Dennis Wolf Talks About the Injury that Forced Him to Retire

- The May 2nd episode of “The Menace Podcast” was a first for host Dennis James. He had talked to featured guest Dennis Wolf many times, but James said this will be the first time that he had a full conversation with the 2014 Arnold Classic Champion in English. Wolf and James both grew up in Germany, so their conversations had always been in that language. Another language they both know is the language of bodybuilding, and the old friends talked plenty about that.

I almost skipped it... but man glad I didn't. Dennis Wolf is such a down to earth guy...a dude I could share a drink with over a fire and bs with. A great perspective on life and a much NEEDED breath of fresh air in these weird times.

Wow, Dennis Wolf, "I never placed worse than second, in the Arnold Classic." that's fucking awesome! He definitely was a top 3 Mr. Olympia before his injury, he just kept improving. Sad what happened, but he accomplished a lot and made some money. Most important thing, he was able to retire young mid 30's and he has his health. Happy for you Wolf. I also had chronic back pain. I suffered and the surgery changed my life for the better. My spine was split in two, the L4 and L5 were split right in the middle and my nerves were pinched. best decision i ever made so i know what it's like.

Dennis wolf is one of my hero’s and a really nice guy I’m glad he is in a good place and has a good soul mate and I wish him total success with his shoulder surgery in Germany and I wish him a bright future in whatever he chooses to pursue.

This was one of the better interviews I’ve seen on your channel, i had no idea what injury forced his retirement, glad i got to see this. Keep it up Dennis!
i worked for the americans in a german facility for years in Bavaria, and the jenitor who was from michigan talked perfect bavarian. He sayd that this the easiest to learn. BTW he married a millionaer and still was doing his job - but than he was winning in Lotto, became a Millionär as well - and still was working with us a complete year. WOW! When is grandson was born he was leaving us. What a great guy he was. Thank you Mike!

Dennis was one of my favorite bodybuilders and until now, I never knew how much he sounds like Arnold.

I haven't been to the doctors that check it out but I'm pretty sure I have a similar situation. Because I'm right side dominant. But within this last year-and-a-halfI've noticed certain movements on my left are stronger and my left side from my shoulder to the triceps and biceps and even trapped in chest. It's bigger.and I really have to try to concentrate on mind muscle connection to even feel a good pump. So essentially if there's a different type of training that goes well with this type of injury. I'm all ears.I'm not trying to put size on anymore because I'm 40 years old and 6 years ago I had well the start of back surgeries and then a fusion l3 l4 l5 and L6.like I said I know I have some kind of nerve impingement or atrophy due to the pinched nerve. I just don't want to get surgery. From 32 years old up until 35I've had two back surgeries, left rotator cuff, two hernias, my left ACL my right MCL both of my shins and my right ankle along with getting shrapnel taken out of my lower back and right quad. And someof my best friend will in my lap. Yes I said that right or you read that right. Bone. We got hit by a roadside bomb over in Baghdad 2008. And wellnot only shrapnel from the explosion but shrapnel from by the way of shards of bone from will that was sitting behind me. I guess the saying is true you always have them with you right? LOL
One good thing though about my back surgery or surgery is rather. In Pennsylvania is name is Dr rajjoub.and the government actually sought him out to do surgery on President Carter's back. So I figured if he was good enough to do President Carter's back he can do mine. I am proud to say thatto this day through all those surgeries I've never once taken pain medication. Except when they gave it to me in the hospital. Not even a Tylenol.
I am surprised with his look that Dennis has never considered acting.
As far as action heroes there is a gap in the market. When Arnold acted a violent scene, it looked much more convincing compared to other actors.
