I played this non stop on my FM show in Columbus Ohio. One of the most underrated tunes ever!
HONESTLY? Tangier's cuts are so rich that I have to stop, as their tunes can last 5 days in my head.
Tangier was one of the most underrated bands and this song kicks ass! My favorite song off "Four Winds". Which is also one of the most underrated and underappreciated albums. Two of my favorite albums to come out in '89 were Tangier's "Four Winds" and "Giant's "Last of the Runaways". Bands like this would have been much bigger if it hadn't been for the grunge era. This stuff still rocks in 2020!! Heard that Tangier was working on new music, with the original singer Bill Mattson. I hope it's true. Who is listening to this song and still rockin' out to it in 2020? :)
Went through several copies of both of those. Just incredible music for the time. I discovered them at NRM on a demo disc they were playing in store back in '89?. Herd both and immediately bought them. Best choice I ever made. Still listen to them in the Jeep in the summer with the top off, stereo cranked up, and the wind just blowing in my face. Thank god for cd burners and MP3 files now a days . I Can have a copy anytime i need it.
Whatever. Grunge simply finished a process--a reaction against "pretty-boy" pop-glam metal--that had already begun years before.
Met them in Scranton PA. Doing a show in the park next to the hospital. It was pouring rain and they were getting soaked. Still played on. Invited them back to our band room to just hang. They had few local fans at the time and we had beer and women and a dry stage to jam on. That's all I'm gonna say bout that except that I liked Cinderella better
@@nathanlansford1882 80’s rock were the masters of musicianship. Big melody vocals and hooks, screaming guitar solos, big production and actually putting on a show for their fans. Great stage presence. Not like the bull shit that poisoned the music scene in the 90’s. Flannel shirts, greasy hair, singing about suicide, no melody to the music and no guitar solos. No wonder grunge only lasted a few years. It sucked.
I love these Obscure Metal bands nobody Remembers
I'm tracking with you, I don't remember them at all. Loss on my part.
Three years after your comment and I still remember buying this cassette 31 years ago this past fall.
@@sketchyold get tired of hearing you new age mindless people saying that. Only thing yall consider metal is black evil screaming fast or dragging metal. Well there is different genres of metal. That is premium old school hair metal. Along with house of lords, steelheart, southgang, tyketto, tuff and many others. Those bands along with some thrash metal got metal going huge and popular and got metal magazines going strong back in the 80s.
It’s weird to see my dad singing in a music video lol
Would love to see a video of him today singing Southbound Train or On The Line.
Your dad has an amazing voice! I loved this song when it came out (I was 17) and I still love it!
He is an icon from our music scene and a friend to many of us who came up in the scene years later.
Bill…. Was and is an inspiration to all Philly singers.❤️🤙 always a fan brotha!
One of the best bands to come out for this time. Unfortunately the times had and were changing in the rock scene and not for their better. The album, "Four Winds" Is in my opinion their best and a piece of rock history i have not forgotten. Bill Mattson is the vocalist on the FW's album. One of the best. I play this album to this day. When Rock was Rock. Long may it live! Amen.
Love this 💯
Seen these guys back in the day opening a triple bill w White Lion and Cinderella
1989 -- I saw the triple bill -- Tangier - Badlands - Cinderella --- easily one of the best gigs I've ever seen.
Tangier, Hurricane, Warlock and Vinnie Vincent Invasion , nobody knows who they are, I love it
Great voice,great sound!
They were a popular rock band in Hungary in the 90s.. I loved them, very much!
I couldn't ask for more from a good rock band. The vocals are absolutely great. The band is magnificent. They have all of the elements to succeed right up there with the other top bands.
You know one of the 60's biggest label ATCO, had been in hibernation, and chose Tangier for the reissue, and in fairness threw a lot of money at them- Those videos $$$. They brought in one of the top producers , ANDY Johns (wiki) and if you look closely DG got credit as associate producer , nearly unheard of.
one of the best songs of this era!
I think I've just played this 25 times on the trot. Completely missed them originally. What a great melodic rock song. As for the vocalist, Bill Mattson, just fantastic
bE CAREFUL, AS i FIND THIS BAND TOO "RICH" lIKE EATING ALL YOU CAN EAT RIBS, OR lOBSTER bISQUE- SOMETIMES A SONG WILL NOT LEAVE FOR 3-4 DAYS
Such terrific talent, such outstanding vocals. The band is a real joy to listen to.
It's so unfortunate that this album dropped when it did because it's solid beginning to end..I'm glad this song led me to listening to the entire album and it's been in my top 10 ever since.✌️😎💕💯🥳
Absolutely love these guys. Great music.
This whole album is bad-ass!
Es. Un grandioso album con un sonido. Poderoso y un vocalista extraordinario
tangier is the best band ever totatly rocks the universe need more albums from tangier
never stop hoping of what will never be..that's right
In the middle of the darkness
Creepin' round your door
In the shadows of a foggy night
Can you hear 'em call
Reachin' out for something
That's not really there
Just another lonely night
There's danger in the air
In the back of an alley
Don't step around
Someone is watching
Don't make a sound
With a hush and a whisper
Another teardrop falls
Gotta fight this feelin'
Can't you hear your momma call
As you gaze in wonder
At the things you see
Never start hopin'
What will never be
That's right that's right
Never walk the streets at night
No not alone
You wait for a reason
You're puttin' your life on the line
Can't ya get back home
Backed in an alley
Up against the wall
Can't move but you're fallin'
Gotta try & grab a hold
Your heart keeps pounding
As you close your eyes
You feel it slippin' away
Gotta find some place to hide
Never start hoping what will never be. Not stop but start, my friend..
THIS SONG ROCKS
still listening to this September 2022 & still sounds as good as the first day it came out
I think the remaster really brings out the interesting touches I had not heard before.
Todays youths miss these kinda awesome having inspiring lyrics melodic hard rocks and guitar tunes, unfortunately.. thanks for posting
What a great band
Headbangers Ball changed my life....
What a wonderful band. Must be discoverd.
Very inspiring melodic hard rock!..
The guitar player in this video is fantastic. Goooo Gari! 🎸
Criminally underrated band!! It was the damn timing. They, along with many other great bands were victims of great band kill off. So very sad!!! This is a stupendously great song!!!!
Good one
I saw Tangier with Badlands & Cinderella in Bakersfield,CA way back in the day !!!
Badlands !! yes. the were top-notch too.. Winter's Call ..what a rock gem
Always have loved this band, awesome vocals, guitar work, the songs are all great! Prefer their music over many of the mainstream bands of that era.
i like this kinda Rock
Got to see them with cinderella and badlands back in the late 80's , great show.
I saw these guys with Cinderella & White Lion in 1989 in Roanoke, VA at the Civic Center. What a concert! Met them & Cinderella after the show. Still have my pics. That was 30 years ago. Thanks for posting this video!! Love Tangier!
Aww cool! I wasn’t born until ‘90. but my uncle is Doug Gordon - guitarist 😀
Georgia Gordon Oh how cool that Doug is your uncle! What a great bunch of guys! They took time to meet their fans and that speaks volumes. Tangier were awesome!
🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
VOLTA Tangier !!!!!
Se reúnam de novo, VOLTEM com a banda TODA !!!!!!!
Bill mattson what a vocals
I loved and still do this whole album! Ripcord was a personal favorite!!
Still listen to Four Winds. Great album. Bill Mattson vocals just incredible. Wish someone like Frontiers would put something together with them. Unfortunately I wont hold my breath.
Excelente balada ♥️
I absolutely love this song, its one of my favorites!!! this album is bad ass I love it. love his voice too, its soooo sexy!!!
Bill is a close friend of mine. I'm definitely showing him your comment. I want to see the look on his face when he reads it! Lol
I love these Obscure Metal bands nobody Remembers too. People are missing out. Anytime -MSG and No Justice -Harem Scarem are two others.
great album
RIP Gari🙏😔
Great stuff. Came along late in the cycle....Cinderella, Britney Fox and Rough House.......Tangier got lost with Heaven's Edge!!!! End of an era....Philly was the best rock town in America in the 1980"s......
Pretty cool song that I've never heard before.
Yeah. I remember. Their was great ones.
Good band and album, big surprise for me.
Sure miss you guys. I hope all is well with you bill, my brother Ray loved working with you guys. 👍
Gary Saint passed away. R.I.P.
Rip Gary Saint!
Perfeiçãooo!!!
I remember them they are from my time. You folks should consider that .Its Southern Rock
Tangier with Bill Mattson was amazing. Tangier should have been huge but instead that grunge crap out of Seattle displaced bluesy hard rock bands like Tangier. Four Winds is an outstanding album.
I remember reading Bill got fired from the band and Doug Gordon took over vocals.
For me it didn't work, I love bluesy rock, and love this album. But the second album just not the same.
Then the grunge thing happened.
But both albums had great songs. Four Winds I still play.
@@fearhim2 I think Mike LeCompt did an incredible job handling the vocals on the second album. They do seem like 2 different bands. And I like them both versions. I got to see Mike and Bill both sing together on stage a few times at LeCompt shows.
Whatever. Grunge simply finished a process--a reaction against "pretty-boy" pop-glam metal--that had already begun years before.
love this band, saw them on mtv on headbangers ball
I'm down with it all as I grew up in the 80s nothing better ❤
当時MTV見て一目惚れ
I so have loved this song for a long time have the cd, its got all the rock elements, its just kick ass seeing live would have been a treat.
jou812 I saw them live with Cinderella & White Lion in 1989 in Roanoke, VA at the Civic Center and let me tell you, that was a damn show buddy! They put on one hell of a performance! Met them after the show. That was 30 years ago. Man, how time flies.
@@Tracy-Lee-Staton To see White Lion Live would have been amazing as well, Cinderella caught them in home town in Iowa 88-89 I know time does fly keep on rocking
Yes they are !!!!
Cool !
Great sound and vocals
Seen them at the san diego sports arena .....toured with fellow jersey..rockers Bon jovi
Winger, Extreme and Tangier at the Boathouse in Norfolk, VA. Great Memories...🤘🤙✌
Gary Nutt on bass , I love stranded with Mike lecompt and Pam Anderson
Awesome love the video
What's real fun, on the re-master- only listen to the guitar fills" of DG, and sometimes 20 seconds after the song, you can hear him "screaming that Les Paul into the sunset . A drummer is known for ingenious fills, but lead guitars also-" Gari and He were two to beat. Thin Lizzyish
Epic
Love the fucking 80s
Que som 💙
Τα σπάει!!!!!!!!!!!!.... Η Κομματαραααααααα!!!!!!!!!!!........

I'm one of the MILLIONS!!! who later learned that I was one of the mere hundreds...that purchased the TANGIER "STRANDED" Album on Cassette back in the day.....but that is FUGENAWZOME!!! #2Lame2Care
Fantastic. That sound. Fuckin' hard rock.
Bad ass
La voz del cantante me recuerda a David Coverdale.
2021🤙
There is is a major theft going in country music taking the great key changes and the subtleties that resulted in ballads that HAVE to hear the multi layered work of Douglas Gordon. when it was time for the big guns Doug was number 1
Unknown band for me, but they were very good
Glam metal anos 80
I was all over this when it realeased great stuff. I’ll never understand how the likes of garbage grunge bands shut bands like this out
This song should have been a huge hit but wasn't. Because of the video I bought the album on CD and at least half the songs on it were great. This band and that album should have gotten really big. I still don't know why it wasn't.
Only knock is that it looks exactly like the Here I Go Again video. Other than that this is bad ass
Give this baby to Tom Jones- Can you hear him??
They look and sound like whitesnake. They even took the same sort of stage idea from whitesnake's still of the night.
Auctually they are considered southern rock dont forget Molly Hatchet
2:15 ...gotta be a band members Mother...100%
Tangier with Bill Mattson was incredible, classic "hard 'n blues", after he left they became a banal hair band, SAD...
Todd are you on here? You Tube? Atlantis1791~. Good sound quality...
Good song but there's nothing really impressive about this band. He has a good voice but nothin ground breaking. I like it but it just sounds like they just know how to play there instruments
Whitesnake wannabes that showed up late to the party...
THIS LOOK IS WHAT KILLED TH 80S ANOTHER COWBOY HAT AND SPANDEX..THIS WAS THE PROBLEM NOT ENOUGH LEATHER, LEATHER NEVER GOES OUT...DENIM AND LEATHER.....THE GLAM SHIT, EVERYBODY STARTED TO SOUND THE SAME AND LOOK THE SAME YOU SEEN ONE OF THESE BANDS, YOU SEEN EM ALL AT THE TIME, I KNOW I WAS ONE OF EM.
There was nothing popular about them. They weren't anything other than a blip on a screen, just like other painfully average bands such as Cats in Boots, Hericane Alice, DAD, Shotgun Messiah, Electric Boys.
Dad was better than most of the yankee bnds.you should listen to laugh n half pal
I absolutely love this song, its one of my favorites!!! this album is bad ass I love it. love his voice too, its soooo sexy!!!
This entire album is a blues rock masterpiece. This band was so fantastic.
1989,Atlantic.
YES ,,!!!
They produced a second album called ' Stranded ' .
