This isn't the frightening part. The frightening part is that he prayed with every punch. He entered a state of mind that Zeno described as being "like a plant". A nen so quiet that pitou and mereum couldn't read from his aura that an attack is coming. It's not just that he was incredibly fast, it was also impossible to observe or feel that he was about to attack.
If you recall previous fights, hisoka showed gon how to faint in heaven arena. That's one level. Then gon fought genthru that would faint with his hands putting aura in them but really was aiming for a body blow. That's a second level. Then there was fietan versus zazan where fietan hide multiple faints in an attack. That is a very high level of skill.
Netero, on the other hand, transcended beyond what mortals do. He does not need to faint anymore. The opponent will never see the attack coming anyway.

      @fredmedrina8180 Před 3 lety +68

Actually, you can consider both as requirements. Hear me out on this:
1.) As already stated by Meruem, 100-type requires him to do the prayer before initiating the attack. Such wasted movement can cause death in battle, thus increasing the nen power.
2.) Zero hand may have 2 requirements if my logic is right. I think they were
--> to have Netero be in a situation where he cannot perform the prayer gesture physically, which is equivalent to him not able to activate the 100-type ability. No ability = death.
--> Another is to do a true prayer that comes from the heart to be manifested. That is so hard to do.
With both combined, it made the Zero hand more powerful than the 100-type ability.

      @fredmedrina8180 Před 3 lety +27

@@insanemakaioshin I think the implied "restrictions" you were talking about were more on Netero not being confined with just Enhancement type alone. His 100-type Guanyin needs to be handled by at least 4 nen categories, thus "no restrictions".
However in both manga and anime, it is always evident that he "pray" first before activating 100-type Guanyin. With his "show of gratitude to martial arts" in a form of pre-activation movement incorporated in his nen, it increased his power. Also, he only activated Zero when he can no longer pray by hands (or he was "checkmated" by Meruem in his words). A final trump card.
Makes sense since it'll be too twisted and not true to the nen logic if he was just too powerful without a catch, right?

I think netero made a lot of choices in that fight to make it harder on himself, and I think he did this because meruem was the only creature that could beat him. not saying he stomps meruem, especially post nuke, but If they stayed fighting above the "tomb" then meruem wouldn't have any of those pillars to bounce around on to 1. re attack quickly enough 2. change the trajectory of his attacks. I just think there was so much more to unpack in that fight than people give it credit for and it makes the fight way more interesting and much less of a "one sided" fight.
Also, I do feel confident meruem would not have been able to beat netero if he didn't get so much smarter playing komugi.
God I loved that Arc and that fight

    • @pulsjax8003
      @pulsjax8003 Před 3 lety +28

Agreed, I believe prime Netero is capable of beating Mereum although probably high diff in regards to power output but in theory Mereum shouldn't even be able to touch Netero if he was over twice as fast/strong (Netero stating he was less than half of his peak so he can't be any more than 49% of his prime during that fight. With that said, I personally put him at around 45-49% and don't really consider anything like 40% because that might & probably would be giving him a bit too much credit and at that point he might've just worded it entirely different if that were the case; the way he did implies less than 50% but close to it) Since Mereum struggled to manage to touch Netero in their fight I don't see how he'd be able to get passed prime Netero's defense especially if you remove the enhanced mindset Meruem received from his experience with Komugi that allowed him to calculate possibilities in movements in a sort of visual-like simulation while simultaneously charging at him. One thing I had never really factored in was the setting, the pillars definitely helped Meruem with speed but especially with recovery so when all is said and done prime Netero wouldn't be touched, would cause more damage with his attacks, Zero Hand might just be enough to finish the job or at the very least severely wound him, Meruem would eventually be tired out and too injured to continue at the same level he had been earlier in their fight and Netero wouldn't have to resort to the rose. Edit: it's a shame we didn't get to see Netero at his prime strength, Meruem was indeed the opponent he had been looking for his whole life to give him a good challenge.

It appeared Netero was doing well, but zero barely did any damage and Mereum was still overwhelming him. If it was prime Netero in a pillar like environment he would lose. The fight in the original "open" area starts getting hard to argue that Mereum would win.

    • @TheMelnTeam
      @TheMelnTeam Před 3 lety +9

@@drewpocernich2540 Doubt Mereum would lose either. In the open he could just run away. Netero's goal was to kill him after taking considerable effort to isolate him, so having Mereum escape would be really bad. Nuke in contained area was also more likely to connect/be harder to escape. Since he knew he was outclassed those moves made a ton of sense, but even if it was closer trying to guarantee target can't run would be an issue.

i think netero's hatsu include all nen type except specialist, but he only use the fundamental from all type. remember what hisoka and wing said about castro ? he use conjuration to create double + manipulation to make the double move just like him. hisoka said it waste memories and wing said its "ineffective" because its hard to make the double move like a normal person when he's an enhancer type. *but* thats what makes netero really a scary person, because he make "ineffective" become "effective"
you cant use complicate technique if its not your affinity because it is ineffective, BUT you can mastery the basic thing from all type, for exp : the basic thing about emission is to release your aura from your body (bisky told to gon). you cant have a strong hatsu like emitter, but if its only about releasing aura from ur body, you can learn it.
    100 hand guanyin include :
*basic conjurer* : Creating an object (statue). it just a statue with no special effect like any other conjurer affinity users (kurapika' chains, shizuku's vacuum, kite's crazy slot)
*basic manipulation* : make an object move (its still basic because netero dont use complex command, it just move following netero punch)
*intermediate emission* : zero hand (intermediate because enhancer close to emission and transmuter)
*intermediate transmuter* : zero hand (it is said he change his aura to looks like a thousand stars) plus his aura looks different when he throw pitou
*enhancer mastery* : this is only my guess, but i think he only use a little amount of aura to surround his body, he use it to enhance the hands of his statue (either all hands or only hands he use to punch). why ?
1.because he dont really hit his enemy, it just the statue hands.
2.think about it, why he need to put aura on his body when there is no one can match his punch speed ? netero so confident about his punch speed, even meruem still cant match his speed, he can cut netero because his incredible brain, he know what kind of punch netero will choose. if its me, i better use "restriction and pledge" to strengthen my hatsu, because even if it dangerous to only have a little aura on your body, i know no one can touch me. so just leave a little to protect your body from the aura pressure (you will loss your hair like knov if you dont use aura at all :D)
thats why he is known as the strongest nen users, because what people think ineffective, he combines all of it and makes an absolutely effective and terrifying hatsu, 100-hand guanyin

To be honest we know little to nothing about how conjuration and nen beasts abilities comes to be.
Netero trained like an enhancer, you punch infinite time.
He added a prayer on this, his hatsu must have naturally developped into what it is today just from the training he did, it naturally took the form it has.
This may sounds insane but Biscuit explained how she gained her abilities to a suit guy in the sucession war arc and basically she wished really hard to become a cute girl, became one and gained a cool abilitiy about it.
So netero prayed really hard and gained that ability that appears to be prayer (hands) related too.

@@slevinchannel7589 you can see it when wing explaining nen to gon and killua, even he wrote how much each type of nen you can learn from your type. Basically only tokushitsu type ability have a 0% chance to learn. Go rewatch it
And the end, just seeing netero ability:
      -high speed punch
-he is a kyouka but can summon a statue, give a physical body + command it.
      - have an aura beam + can change his aura beam (if you listen carefully to what narrator said when netero using zero hand)
Netero is a kyouka, but when he is fighting, its not him who actually attack his enemy, but his statue. So obviously, he using his ability to enhance the power his statue.
If you have a high speed punch so no one cant touch you + using a statue to hit instead of your hands, will you use your nen to enhance your body? It will be useless, you just need a little amount of your aura to protect yourself from the enemy aura pressure.

It’s clearly emitted, as even the HxH Wiki points out: Conjured would make NO sense cause of Buddhism-Reasons.
In the End, it’s an Emitted Statue that is extremly-much Manipulated.
Emission+Manipulation, probably Enhancement is used at least to make the Statue never break BUT it absolutely does make Sense Netero is still Enhancing himself, as remember: The Statue mimics Neteros Hands.

Doesn't Netero's insane speed utilize his enhancement? He's only super fast when he's making the prayer gestures and that seems like a condition for his ability to either slow down time or speed himself up.
It's always come through that his main ability (and his original one) was to either create a space around himself where he can pray at lightning speed or to maximize his speed only for the action of throwing seiken. The whole flashback sequence where we learn about Netero developing his ability is all about him practicing seiken and becoming so fast he can throw tens of thousands of punches in a ridiculously short timeframe.

Even with the databooks, I don't know... I think that Netero fits better as emitter. His strongest ability is an emiter ability (Zero hand), and we saw that emitters can mold their aura with different forms (Razor and Tocino create soldiers, so Netero is allowed to create a Buddha). Then, emmiters are 80% efficient in manipulation and enhancement, that's why Netero can manipulate all the Buddah movements and the attacks are physically soo strong. Also, if he was an enhancer, should have used more transmutation powers and he didnt. Even Hisoka's personallity test is not extremely accurate for Netero as an enhancer, but emmiters are similar in personallity with some differences.

@@andyquinn3996 That's what i meant. Nen mostly works like "point buy". With the addition that it's not distribited "fair". Meaning some just have more then others. And as an enhancer manipulation would be expensive as shit. So you attach tons of conditions.
My idea is it works exactly as proposed in the video:
summon weak statue, enhance it and control it.
So in order to not bind up too much potential in one of his weakest categories add a bunch of conditions. Referencing Hisokas critique towards Kastro here.
      Overly simplifed examples
So let's say Netero has like 10k points
      Hisoka has 3k
Hisoka mostly uses his at 100% efficiency so the "raw power" stays closer to the 3k. aka all 3k points in his 100% effective manipulation
      Kastro has 3,5k
Kastro splits like crazy without adding conditions so he ends up below 3k just due to bad management. Because if he puts in 1k in manipulation he gets a 600 result baseline.
In this case Netero would achieve full efficiency manipulation via restrictions:
      Needs to stay close
Needs to perform movement + prayer pose
Similiar to how Kurapika exchanges his life force to gain 100% everywhere and that just sucks him dry rather fast. At this point i wouldn't be surprised if he activates an implied condition by killing himself with emperor time.
      Basically:
Use up all your life to hunt the spiders.
To get a result similiar to Gon.
Netero just does something more directly tied to the ability: Doing the movements himself + 1 extra
As alternative to just sinking in more nen. So he can us more on enhancement for more power.
The full calculations get quite a bit more messy even if we had exact numbers.
      short example:
Assuming the same values as above.
To do 1k points of damage at 2m a natural emitter might use 1200points of nen.
That would be the "100%" baseline
So if your emission potential is just 40% you would do 400 points of damage at 2m using the same 1200 points of nen.
And even then we still don't know how much restrictions influence those values and where and how that modifies the values
      To add even ore confusion:
Even if it all worked exactly like that comparison would still be very hard.
      Examples for why:
Assuming the above number 4 Hisokas would have a higher number then Netero.
Reason the 4 Hisokas would win:
Action economy, being at 4 places at ones and having 4 bodies is in our physic a lot more efficient in terms of interacting with the environment. (i.e. number of hands)
Reasons the 4 Hisokas would lose:
It also comes with the same inherent drawbacks, if one is disabled i.e. killed. the number instantly and permanently drops to 9k and so on.
      real life example:
Like you can kill a bee hive but a bee hive can also kill you. Even a non allergic dies to a few hundred stings within a few minutes. But when a human 1v1 a bee the human doesn't necessarily gets stung. In fact the odds are rather low.
And this fight is pretty much decided by what boils down to:
Hit point total (even if the bee lands its best hit its at best an inconvenience)
damage output potential (one of the 2 can crush the other with no effort between 2 fingers, it costs in fact so less energy[in comparison to the reserve] that the average human could do that to an entire hive within a day)
Moral of the story theory is extremely useful and interesting but almost never the full story because there are simply to many variables. Even if you already have a lot and those are 100% accurate.
That's why i dislike the black and white approach people apply to power scaling all to often. Just because it is not everything and doesn't even necessarily predict the outcome of a battle. That doesn't means it's useless or dumb.
I think even early DBZ had a nice basis to built on even if it was accidental:
      Vegeta told Nappa to dodge.
Nappa relied on the single number form his scouter
And Vegeta just understood that that wasn't all that was going on there. But he still continued to use his scouter. It's just a parameter. A useful one, like gravity. But how many things can you really do in todays society just considering gravity and nothing else? That doesn't mean you should ignore it.

base stats the ants are stomping the entire human species no questions asked.
      Fight to the death?
All the ants that are not royal guards or the king got completely obliterated by hunters.
Netero could have killed all the guards providing he fought them 1 on 1 despite them being better at base then them.
The strongest was Pitou and all it managed to do was kill Kaito because he lost his arm.
Pouf and Youpi could have been handled by the team if they were all there including gon, killua, palm and ESPECIALLY KNOV.
Morau managed to do a pretty fine job with Knuckle and Shoot.
OFC you will say easy everybody can win in teams but with ants it is different.
I highly doubt the top 5 nen users can even take down Netero wearing the heart t shirt (in fighting state)
He is just too strong and nobody can do shit against his abilities INCLUDING the strongest ant outside of the kng Pitou. It got swatted, had zero damage but could not do shit.
The king had zero damage too but it could adapt fast to netero and actually beat him during the fight.

Here's a question that comes up for me:
I believe that, somewhere during the fight with Meruem, Netero said something that, to me, sounded like the "hands" he uses in his ability are not his own originally.
That they "come from the vanquished enemy", or something like that.
Could someone more knowledgable on the topic look into that? Because, since he dedicated his life to practising only one type of punch, it would make little sense for him to be so proficient with a hundred different ones, especially when nen is involved.
Maybe his ability originally made only his one punch that fast and powerful, but each defeated enemy that had similarly practised punch was added onto the roster and made just as powerful?

There is a reason the universe is hidden within her mouth. If many western fans would understand the importance of Avalokitesovara then the final conclusion being a bomb would hit them even more than it already does.

It's crazy how netero isn't even that crazy in terms of how strong he really got after all those years of unbelievable amounts of training. Other people who don't even come close to his amount of training or even years of life have reached a point where they would be able to actually give him a proper fight; sure they might not be as foundationally sound as netero in the basics, but they would still be able to fight him and don't night potentially beat him.

In terms of Netero’s nen abilities being able to seemingly disregard affinity limitations. I had thought of the crazy idea that possibly Netero figured out how to “Enhance” his other affinities. While this idea is outlandish considering the many years of training he has done it could be somewhat possible. We also know very little about the true limits of nen and if anyone would figure out how to cheat the system it would be Netero.

Wow Wow cmon now... netero certainly had mercy, he even laments to some extent the graciousness he has shown throughout an entire lifetime. Meruem for Netero was the opponent the challenge he had waited decades to face. It isn't surprising the old man was keen for a fight, even more so he was not in a position being the Hunter chairman and the representative combatant of the human governments to negotiate with Meruem much less Meruem's generous terms which was some kind of unconditional surrender and to create a special zone ghetto so small amounts of humans could survive... This arrangement being completely contingent on Meruems word, and assumes Meruem would not himself die when a new generation of chimera ants are born.... I mean is that even a discussion ?

  • @greedier-7661
    @greedier-7661 Před 2 měsíci

I think he is enhancer and he specifically chose to have his statue be made of conjuration and manipulation as he wanted it to be as difficult as it could be.
So, to put it simply he nerfed himself while fighting meruem. That could also explain, why his creation was completely the opposite of his thinking, he once again nerfed himself by using his nen to opposite to his ideals.
And lastly he nerfed himself by completely removing any martial arts from his fighting style, he leaves his body completely open to attacks, while making himself stand in a way that makes it hard to defend himself.
He even makes the statue be behind him, while it would be better to make himself be inside or behind it to use it as a shield.
    ----------------------------------------------
So he either was looking down on Meruem, wanted him to kill him.
or he made his battle style to be as bad as it possibly could be to seek challenge.

Could the devil/satan who written *DARK SONATA* actually be the top dog of the Dark Continent and what would happen if all four pieces were to be play simultaneously? I think Netero is the prime example of True Mastery. It sounds simple, but hear me out.
Think of the best of the best in any field of knowledge or performance: musicians, athletes, scientists, etc. Compare the depth of understanding of someone who is considered a master or really accomplished professional to an amateur or untrained person; even as a pretty average-level musician I myself have seen people getting impressed by the simplest polyrhythms I showed them, and being unable to grasp stuff like how rhythm and pitch are kinda the same thing at a certain level of analysis. Now think of the depth of understanding of people who actually discover and formulate this type of knowledge and take them to the next level, or how some musicians like Jacob Collier and overtone singers can do things that might seem impossible even to very accomplished performers.
Netero's 100-Type is a hatsu that blurs all the lines: it seems to be a Conjured construct, it can fire Transmuted energy (and might display some unique material properties too), it is extremely strong and durable as what we'd expect from some Enhanced weapon, and may also have been imbued with a more abstract/metaphysical strength or force representing his level of discipline and sheer will; it moves as fast as Emitted and Enhanced techniques (the Zero Hand is also emitted), and is Manipulated to follow/respond to his movements to attack, besides the manipulation of his own body and mind that might come with it. It could be argued that Specialization techniques are also built as a combination of multiple other types of hatsu, hence why they seem not to fit any other 1 category, and the 100 Type could simply be considered that type too.
Netero's skills and accomplishment with Nen blurs the lines between the hatsu category themselves; he challenges the very foundational theories of how it all works, because he is just that level of powerful and a reality shaper. I really can't see how those percentage/compatibility limitations would apply, and even if they do, he has made it to such a level that they are essentially meaningless to his use of Nen; he is probably the one character seen in the story so far that can bend "the rules" because he has reached a level of mastery over the very essence of what Nen is, making pitch out of rhythm, and playing all rhythms at once.

I actually have a Small Theory maybe Netero is Using Emission and Transmutation to create the Statue and then using Manipulation and Hand movement like Zeno does to control his dragon he is controlling the state, using Hand Movements like this to control the statue which is a strong Condition as because no one other than Netero can actually use the Hatsu, even someone like Chrollo were to Copy it, he wouldn't be able to use it, Properly not to Mention maybe the Aura cost would kill him right at the Moment, or maybe his Statue be same size of a Person so this is Pretty Stong Hatsu and it does fit him as an Enhancer as he is in perfect place allowing him to use Any affinity he wants

Netero manipulates the statue, which has to be conjured. The final move transmutes his life force into an emission type attack. I like to think it's a specialist type which requires total control over the entire wheel, including enhancement to move fast enough to summon the statue efficiently.

The main reason why Meruem was able to beat Netero that easily was because his critical thinking was enhanced and polished by leaps and bounds due to his several defeats in gungi against Komugi. Had he not had those experiences, Netero would've had a chance, though not by much since Meruem's endurance and durability was clearly unmatched.

I really do feel like Netero's nen type should be emission. Since his main ability the Guanyin is an emitted construct. And him being an emitter makes more sense since the adjacent categories are manipulation and enhancement. Both categories that complements the Guanyin. (Manipulation to manipulate the hundred arms, and enhancement to round out the ability). As an emitter, his manipulation and enhancement would both be at 80% versus if he were an enhancer, his manipulation would only be at 60%. Not to mention his most powerful move the zero hand is an emission technique.

A lot of people think he manipulates the statue. He doesn’t. It’s called 100-hand because it has 100 different trajectories. Netero is limited by fixed angles. If he was manipulating the statue this would obviously not be the case. These fixed trajectories best correspond to emission of nen aura, where he has 100 different angles to choose to emit from. The aura is reinforced into a hard Buddha hand via transmutation. And he no doubt uses enhancement. I think he’s an enhancer.
