Manipur: A visit to a relief camp in Churachandpur; another camp narrating the same story of despair

- On our way to the hills of Manipur, someone stopped our vehicle and urged if NTT could tell their story too. We were taken to a relief camp at Saidan in Churachandpur and we were told, this was the first time any media had visited their camp, some 20 kms away from the main town. This relief camp was home to more than 170 people and mostly children. There were lactating mothers too, who had no choice but to nurse their new born babies in the relief camp. Most of them have either lost their homes to violence and don't have a place to back to or had taken shelter there since their houses were on the frontline peripheral areas. The community hall was cramped with no fans and the temperature wasn't any kind. People used school benches and made them into makeshift beds and small enclosures. The camp had limited resources and consumers were many. "When do we go back to our villages and homes" asked many but the answer not known to us or any.
