I'd say some of the earlier bands like Budgie started it all. Some of the Budgie guitar riffs appear in many later bands songs.

They took their name from a film apparently. It was a Boris Karloff film so probably a horror film.
@@annmonaghan4360 it was a horror movie. The band were rehearsing and saw across the street long queues for a scary movie. The thinking was that the public paid good money to be scared, so they thought let's do that with music!
That is correct they were rehearsing in the studio before they called their band Black Sabbath saw a Billboard for a movie called Black Sabbath and thought that sounds scary and would scare people Plus it's a cool title for a song so they did both made a song and called the band Black Sabbath.
Also, War Pigs, Crazy Train, Iron Man, Children of the Grave, Voodoo, Sign of the southern cross, Heaven and Hell, Snowblind, The Wizard, supernaut, Neon Knights, all great picks for songs from Sabbath!!

I'm 66 years old and I was around 15 when I first heard him and fell in love with Black Sabbath,been listening to him to this day.Sabbath ,eagles and pink Floyd was my favorite !! Can you believe they have been around this long!!! Go Ozzie!! I love it when young people listen to these great bands!!!
Tony Iommi, the guitarist lost his fingers in a machine accident. Had to re learn the guitar. Pretty inspirational guy.
He had to loosen the strings on his guitar in order to play and that toned down sound turned into the classic metal guitar tone.
Most of their music actually gives a positive message.
Live N.I.B from Black Sabbath is a must. One of the greatest songs ever, blow you away

He was in Black Sabbath until he was told his drug problem was too out of control in comparison to his band mates and they kicked him out and took on Ronnie James Dio instead. He ended up doing mostly solo music after that but reuniting with Black Sabbath periodically. Ozzy is great! Anything by him or including him is completely worth taking a listen to!

Ozzy then re-started his career as a solo artist with his own band. Black Sabbath is my absolute favorite band (original members ), Paranoid my favorite song, Ozzy my favorite front man. To me, Black Sabbath was about taking Gothic stylings of classical music, mixing it with blues rock, and setting it to electric guitar, bass, and drums. There was a medieval influence to rock that's maybe overlooked. 🎸🔥👍

Went to concert with multiple group called Ozzfest in Pitts PA. So Ozzy would talk before his songs and you couldn't even understand a word he said. Then when he got to the songs every single word was clear Amazing.

Notice ring finger of guitarist (Tony Iommi) is an artificial extension he made himself, he cut the end of his finger off working in a factory & still went on to be the master of heavy riffs! Sabbath are the godfathers!
