I thought your Air Fryer was being polite, when it flashed "HI" on its display! 😂 I buy Ashfield Steaks at Aldi. Have you tried Ashfield ready to eat Sliced Roast Beef from the chiller? It's really nice! Good for sandwiches, and I also use it for a quick and easy Roast Beef Dinner. Yum! Keep up the good work Gareth, we all love you!
That steak looked nice ~ I like them still mooing I used to get the Aldi 21 day Sirloin and cook it for 1 minute in the George Formby grill, cheaper than fillet and good flavour. Last time I went shopping, however, I spotted a steak on the reduced counter in Morrisons, and, as I can't resist a yellow sticker I bought it. A Morrisons 'The Best Shorthorn sirloin steak' matured for 21 days, 227g (8oz) and the most delicious steak I have ever eaten 😍😋👌 You have to try one!
If you’re going to cook a steak for 30 seconds each side you literally might as well just eat it raw at room temperature. Medium rare is fine, even rare for some folk. But one minute? Why not just eat it raw?
@@steroe7965 I wouldn’t use a George Foreman anyway as they don’t get hot enough. Better to fry it on each side over a searing pan for one minute than use a GF, as you’ll just have an unappealing beige lump of meat in that amount of time
Prefer a ribeye myself think it cooks better with a bit of fat Frying pan or grill for me but nice to see how some of these gadgets compare thanks great vlog
Great job and timely as I've bought some fillet for the weekend. You've given me confidence to try it in my air fryer although I'll sear it in the pan first!
That steak looked spot on Gareth. I'm having a nice piece of Ribeye myself tonight with chips cooked in the air fryer, and peas, and fried mushrooms, can't wait after watching this!
I think a sous vide circulator would be a good purchase for the channel. It basically lets you cook things in water in a vacuum bag or a ziplock at a very specific temperature, which the circulator (usually a ‘wand) maintains. The meat reaches an equilibrium with the water bath and never overcooks, so you always get the perfect steak with no grey rings and no risk of overcooking or undercooking. There’s also no particular rush to get the meat out of the bag. You’d cook a fillet steak at somewhere around 54c for an hour or so to get it perfectly medium rare. You can get really big ziplock bags at Aldi and it’ll be a great thing to try out with steaks like this, as well as other random experimental things like beefburgers! You just pay them dry at the end of cooking and sear them for a minute in a searing hot pan to brown them off.
I'm afraid to me, the steak still looked raw in the middle. I would have cut in half first so it wouldn't be so thick. But then again, I like my steak well done. Cheers mate !
I do agree that it's a lot simpler cooking a steak in a frying pan 😋 but as you say it's how we learn...loving your videos..your my new fav to watch thanks to you tube recommendations ❤
Tesco do a similar version, same weight at 170 Gm but slightly dearer at £5. I like the look of the Aldi steak because it’s thicker so easier to cook medium rare. I put a small amount of oil on the steak and then sprinkle on some Sainsbury’s steak seasoning. I prefer the option of a jacket potato rather than chips.
I got a bit adventurous a while back and bought myself a sous vide and accompanying paraphernalia. For those who haven't heard of sous vide, it is cooking in vacuum sealed bags for a long time at very precise low temperatures. Steaks come out tender and moist though lacking in colour. A quick fry in the pan and the steaks are beautiful and tasty. At one time sous vide was only found in the best restaurants because the equipment was very expensive. These days any one can afford to buy a sous vide and enjoy meals that were once only the preserve of the very rich. Thought you might like to give it a try Gareth.
That steak is too rare for my liking. But it is difficult to judge the timing on a thick steak, which is why I always buy ribeye. I don't like steak well done, though. Just not quite as raw as shown here.
@@DLT100 Well, a lot of people like it that way. Me included. As long as the outside is well-seared, it is safe to eat and at its juiciest, and tenderest at that point. My fav meal..Can't believe how well that cooked in the air fryer..But FFS red sauce???,that was crying out for a proper brandy pepper sauce...good luck
Thanks for reply. Think airfry good for parboiled roast crispy spuds but they still need evoo. Or other oil. Airfry things very noisey in kitchen and take toooo long before food crisp or brown. Better to put in 180c oven on tray for 30-40 mins. Drizzled with dripping obv.. Beef dripping with the black stuff on the bottom!!!
Looked a trifle raw for my liking but you did a nice job of it. Im just wondering would pressure cooking it first for 5 mins have helped with the process similar to like you did with the Brisket? But yes its a learning curve. Im learning and getting ideas from you that I can do with my Ninja Foodie Max. So your videos are great. Cheers!
Hi Gareth Yes these steaks look so nice! But Would you consider re doing this one again and cook the steak well done please! I personally always ask for my steak to be well Done! and the first thing i do is to cut it in half and if its pink it goes back to be cooked longer. Cheers Martin
You're asking him to ruin a perfect piece of steak. As it heats up, the muscle fibres in the meat get firm and all the juices cook out. That leaves you with a chewy, tough piece of meat. If you want the meat to be well done, you need to stew it but that's not done with beef fillet.
I'm only 30 sec's in so far and paused it. Now I have that same steak every week and I absolutely love it,will you to. I also do my chips in an air-fryer which are also great. I predict by the end of watching this vid' your answer will be the same as mine....roll the tape !
Can't beat a decent bit of rare fillet. I tend to get mine at Lidl as around here (Hull) it is definitely more tender than Aldi. Mind you that looked spot on from Aldi that time. My misses keeps nagging me to get an air fryer and to dump my trusty old deep fat fryer. I'm still not quite sold on one yet. I'll watch a few more of your reviews first...
I'm enjoying looking through your vids Gaz, this made me chuckle, when you patted down the raw steak l was thinking that would do for a black eye from scrapping! ( The previous one l watched you were reminiscing about a doorman from Leicester lol)
I think they were more French Fries, not “chips”. I’m sure I saw a weight of 170gm on the back of the pack 😵💫😵💫. In answer to your question, I like all cuts of steak. But for me, I do really like Sirloin as my go to steak. Add to that some chips and a creamy mushroom and pepper sauce. Sometimes I go for either a large grilled tomato or a fried egg. Yum yum. 👍🏻👍🏻.
Hi Gareth nice video on your steak & chips, from ALDI but I think you need to back and try there turkey& stuffing crisp for 79p per bag and let me if you like. Regards.........Barry.

I bet, I'll be having one soon after watching that. Rib eye too which is part of the T bone i recently found out. Cowin lush man
Thanks for reply.
Cheers!
Cheers Miles
Looks delicious, but I can’t eat steak, but I do cook steak for the family. Great review Gareth.👍
Thank you 👌👌
Hi there fantastic work on the video steak look really nice made me feel hungry think I will have for my tea tomorrow 👍👍
Thank you 😋👌👌
Hi Gareth Yes these steaks look so nice!
Haha let me know 👌👌
Can't beat a decent bit of rare fillet.
Cheers Andy 😋👌👌
Lidl do an 8oz thick cut fillet which is superb.
Cheers Robin 😋👌👌
Can’t fault ya cooking there Gareth looked well nice 👍
Thank you 😋😋👌
After watching the steak an Ninja air fryer is on my Christmas list!
I'm enjoying looking through your vids Gaz, this made me chuckle, when you patted down the raw steak l was thinking that would do for a black eye from scrapping! ( The previous one l watched you were reminiscing about a doorman from Leicester lol)
haha yes worked with a couple of lads who worked on the doors and in their spare time done debt collecting lol

Was that the hot chip spice you put on the fries? A wonderful condiment I’d not seen before it was recommended to me…we don’t get it up here!
We only have a cheap tower one but it usually beats the cooker everytime.
Tomato sauce 😂 all about the peppercorn for me and steak, good vid mate
Cheers
I think they were more French Fries, not “chips”. I’m sure I saw a weight of 170gm on the back of the pack 😵💫😵💫. In answer to your question, I like all cuts of steak. But for me, I do really like Sirloin as my go to steak. Add to that some chips and a creamy mushroom and pepper sauce. Sometimes I go for either a large grilled tomato or a fried egg. Yum yum. 👍🏻👍🏻.
Cheers Gerry
Hairdryer 😸love it
Their steak are soooo good love watching your video
Cheers Helen thank you 😋👌👌
I know you said you prefer medium rare to medium but that was rare but still looked good
Hi Gareth nice video on your steak & chips, from ALDI but I think you need to back and try there turkey& stuffing crisp for 79p per bag
and let me if you like.
Regards.........Barry.
Cheers Barry, 😋😋👍
