- Wie einige seiner älteren Geschwister hat sich auch Ky-Mani Marley früh in seiner Jugend dazu entschieden, in die Fußstapfen seines berühmten Vaters Bob zu treten. Er ist nicht nur als Musiker erfolgreich, sondern arbeitet auch als Schauspieler.
1976 auf Jamaika als Sohn von Reggae-Ikone Bob Marley und der jamaikanischen Tischtennis-Meisterin Anita Belnavis geboren, wächst Ky-Mani ab dem Alter von neun Jahren in Miami, Florida auf. Dort hört er als Jugendlicher vor allem HipHop und Pop, spielt Fußball und American Football.
Nachdem er ein wenig Erfahrung mit Rap und Deejaying gemacht hat, arbeitet er mit seinen Brüdern Stephen, Julian und Damian zusammen an Reggae-Tracks. Sein Debütalbum "Like Father Like Son" ("Wie der Vater, so der Sohn"), erscheint 1996. Die Single "Dear Dad" wird ein Erfolg in den britischen Reggae-Charts. In der Folge arbeitet Ky-Mani mit u.a. Pras vom Refugee Camp All-Stars und Pras von den Fugees, P.M. Dawn, Shaggy, Protoje und Alborosie.
Sein drittes Album "Many More Roads" wird 2001 für einen Grammy in der Kategorie "bestes Reggae-Album" nominiert. 2007 tritt Ky-Mani im Vorprogramm der Hardrock-Band Van Halen auf. 2016 bringt er gemeinsam mit dem deutschen Reggae-Star Gentleman das Album "Conversations" heraus. Neben seiner Musikkarriere arbeitet Ky-Mani Marley auch als Schauspieler, vor allem in jamaikanischen und US-amerikanischen Produktionen.

Ky-Mani never plays enough reggae it’s pretty much a bunch of hip hop with a couple of his own reggae tunes and the rest is all his dad’s songs. 😴
