In your opinion. When are good times to use contact,normal,or power?
I struggle with one thing, well no, all things lol. How to recognize pitches when they are released. Not recognizing them makes me swing at all kinds of crap I have no business swinging at. It sucks tbh. It makes me just dislike the game because I don't feel like I have a chance. How do you recognize them so quickly AND get the PCI in the right position that fast? I'd love an idea. I see it but trying to apply it to my game is irritating me 😂

I have been playing the show for a few years now and every year searching for good hitting tips and i normally watch a lot of people's videos but after I watched this I can honestly say this by far is the best in detail video I've ever seen in the over 3 years I've been watching. Keep it up and look forward to more vids.
I watched this whole video last night, played 3 ranked games in division series with a half gold half diamond team against kluber and Newhouser and won all 3 and scored at least 8 runs in each game. I would struggle to hit those guys but now I have so much confidence. This is such a good tip video, I really appreciate the help. Everyone try this you will get better 100%

Your anticipation of where the pitch is hitting the strike zone is sick. I slowed each hit down to 0.25 just to watch, I realized that I place my PIC higher or under often which is also because I have the habit of swinging early. I think I need to settle down wait till later in the pitch to place PCI and swing

They got to fix the pitching right now is super inconsistent, even when you make perfect imput is still bad.
The hitting feels kinda easy the pitch speed in all start are closely to mlb 18( Super Slow).

Yep. Pitching is awful.
it is based on player stats. So if your pitcher has terrible control, you wont get perfect pitches even if you have perfect input. Of course it is frustrating

My problem is I just freeze when I get a good pitch. I also struggle at following the ball. I just push the pci to it and get awful contact every time

Is strike zone view that much more helpful? I’ve been using directional hitting for so long I feel I’d struggle using PCI too
Yeah dude, it kinda takes awhile but keep hitting with the PCI on custom practice cause after a few tries you’ll get used to it.
The most important thing for me when learning is knowing why to do or not do something. You did a superb job explaining that.
Good tips my man! I used your tip on keeping the PCI up a little bit just in case for high fast ball in and it works well for me. Also sweet name
People who complain online about “they need to fix the hitting, etc” should watch a video like this and then hopefully realize they just suck.

you just gotta get through a few bad games with zone , but once you do you'll be so much better
I felt the same way as you. I’ve been doing directional and couldn’t stand using the pci. I forced myself this year and just kept doing it. It got to points that I went back to directional and it was annoying me that the pci wasn’t moving so I just kept at it and I’ve actually gotten better and see waaaayyyy better results. Keep at, I promise you’ll get better.
DUUUUUUUUUUUDE.... The fact that you showed how you hold the left stick with your thumb, I’m def subbing!!! All people do is talk about slightly this, slightly that, and I always wondered how people were avoiding so much tension on the PCI. You’re a real on for that!

Yeah, that guy's team looks like a high school team against yours. One of the main reasons I've never had any interest in online play is how unbalanced opponents are. No one stands a chance when their opponent can outspend them.

Also it goes more on your rank then how good your team is. If you got a bunch of gold cards and just started you can easily beat a all mid to high 90s team!

Do some batting practice and set it to whatever difficulty you play online. If you play any other offline modes like RTTS or just even against the CPU It helps a lot if you make it the same difficulty as online

Great tips. The few adjustments especially playing up and in a bit helped me alot, went from being inconsistent in veteran to smashing homeruns quite frequently on HOF difficulty. Subscribed 👍

the trick is being able to distinguish a ball from a strike and that is best from playing and finding the batting view best for you as mentioned early in this vid.

New to the channel, kinda new to MLB The Show as well, (I played 18, and just bought 20 the other day). I've been struggling in Road To The Show. Well, maybe not exactly struggling. I'm doing all right, I guess. My guy's got an average in the .380s, and seems to get at least one hit in every game. I also seem to have something of a knack for hitting doubles - this goes back to 18 as well. I can hit the daylights out of some doubles. Can't steal a base to save my life though. My guy's "The Anomaly", and has a good rating for speed. I just can't seem to get the knack of actually doing it, is all. I also can't seem to draw any walks. Whenever I take the first pitch, it ALWAYS seems to be called a strike, and once I'm 0-1, I have a REALLY hard time not trying to put it in the stands. Any advice for a hopeful rookie?

I use basic inner only for a pci and ever since I switched it to that and got used to it I’ve Been doing so much better. The middle pci dots / altitude/ diamonds are pretty distracting I’ve realized especially for someone like me who has very bad ADD / ADHD. Would recommend people to give that a go

When the pitch is coming are you looking at the pitchers hand to see where it goes and what pitch it is or do you wait for it to come towards the strike zone
Con 14 follow the ball all the way through. Lock in the pitchers pitching motion and time how long it takes from the ball to releases his hand. Don’t literally time it 1 2 3. Time it as it is

Hi, I'm new to MLB 20 and all your suggestions/tips are helping me but I still don't know how to time my pitches is there any way I could get better at timing the pitches.
It is all easier said then done. All comes down to being able to lay off balls, and I'm sure a monitor helps but people make WS on tvs too. I enjoy playing on my 55 inch and make WS. Especially if pitch speeds are slower this year, haven't been able to play yet so idk. But good tips, good video!
i get frustrated when i get late on fastballs and then i try to be earlier and an off speed comes and i swing way too early. i just don’t know how to adjust, but i will be using these tips to try and get myself into better situations. thank you for the tips!
