Shaggy, I am happy you did this ranking and video. I've much respect for Plant's career post-Zep.
I do have the 'Little by Little', 12" Maxi Single. (with Remix Long Version). It also has 'Sixes and Sevens'.

Appreciate this look at a unique and restless artist, Robert Plant. Being the frontman and voice of one of the biggest bands ever was his jumping off point. Unlike Page, Plant has been able to carve out his own, distinct musical legacy that continues into this century.
It did take him a while to do so. I had to laugh when you relegated those early albums to a "fast food" category. It's probably off of his work with LedZep that he actually had a career (including some radio hits) with those albums. They consistently show up in the thrift bins in my hometown! For what came after, I don't have much to say regarding my own (lack of) ranking. I love Plants explorations into American roots, ancient British song and music derived all the way back to Africa. That he is able to bring them together with his voice and collaborations is a real gift.
I'll only add a couple of random notes: my latest acquisition is the second collaboration with Krauss and T Bone Burnett, RAISE THE ROOF. It's a warm, lovely record with a deep, dark heart. Cuts like "The Price of Love" and "Somebody was Watching Over Me" are amazing; in a more open, parallel universe they'd be on steady radio rotation. There are two other cuts associated with Page's guitar mentor, Bert Jansch (the inspiration for pre-Zep "White Summer"); Bert's own "It Don't Bother Me" and a song he recorded from Anne Briggs called "Go Your Way". Overall, a worthy successor to the Grammy winning RAISING SAND.
On the stellar BAND OF JOY, Plant covers two songs from THE GREAT DESTROYER, an album by the Duluth band Low. I had the honour of working the stage at the Winnipeg Folk Festival when Low played and both "Monkey" and "Silver Rider" were highlights of the show. Low tap into the dark underbelly of America, thematically and sonically, so it's no wonder that Plant was attracted to their songs.
I was lucky to see Plant when he and his Band of Joy band played here. It was a master class in dynamics and revelation: his song choices and the tightness of the whole group made this a magical experience. (He was comfortable enough to cover a few LedZep songs but they certainly weren't the centre-piece of his set list.) I also have a Blu-Ray of that tour, LIVE FROM THE ARTISTS DEN in Nashville. A real band celebration.
I'm glad that your top pick, CARRY FIRE is one of the few Plant albums I've yet to acquire. I've got something special to look forward to.
    Great job, Shaggy!
p.s. What's your opinion of the two albums he made with Page?

    Great Video
I love Band of Joy so I might put it on Top
You are spot on when you say Robert needs a band and when his found a steady supporting cast the results were so much better
For that reason need to mention Buddy Miller for Band of Joy
    And
The great Justin Adams for Lullaby and Carefree
I love African guitar so a trip to Justin’s solo work well worth exploring
Do you know Mdou Moctar another great guitarist from Niger
Would love you to dive in to Ry Cooder , Rock , blues Americana and world music he does it all

Man I really think you are missing out on the Page/Plant albums. The live No Quarter (what an insult to JPJ for naming it that) is excellent with the recreated versions, but Walking into Clarksdale is a real gem - no real guitar solos, but I think all of the songs are great. These are the albums where Plant got his modern sound in my opinion. To me he is the spirit of the Zeppelin sound if you know what I mean. I have a different order of favorites, but I would say Shaken and Stirred is my least favorite and The Mighty Rearranger as my favorite. Since you have seen him live, then you know what it's all about. I do have a live Sensational Space Shifters in London July 2012 that I downloaded in iTunes which is amazing too. Yeah man - how about some Live Reviews of Zeppelin (maybe songs since the official catalog is small), Page and Plant, Robert Plant (live), Jimmy with Black Crowes or Coverdale (even The Firm), John Paul Jones solo (very cool) and Them Crooked Vultures. I think there's some great stuff to talk about and rank if you take it all as a whole.

horrid ranking...my list is the exact opposite pretty much. Kraus crap is garbage as is your #1-5 albums. his best is the "over/poorly- produced 80s . how could you not even mention i believe on fate of nations...one of his best. I'd give a new listener your list and say start at the bottom and go from there. lol
