So sorry you are experiencing the same problem I had with my lG refrigerator. It wasn’t until I removed the shelf below the water filter allowing the door for the water filter to drop further down that I was able to remove the old filter with ease. My problem was solved.
I just came to CZcams to try and find a solution for the same exact problem. I’ve had mine stuck for months and can’t get it out. I’ve tried so many things to no avail. Any luck on your end?
I ran into exactly the same thing with the same model fridge. I finally got it out by turning it counter clockwise and pulling straight for about ~10 minutes continuously, it eventually popped loose. I think the rubber o-rings on the filter spout swell up and it takes steady pressure for several minutes before they start to roll and then release.

Experiencing this exact issue, and was hoping to see if you had any luck removing the filter?
With ya Brotha! No cure in sight yet!
I am having the same problem. Have you been able to replace the water filter?
Try holding the casing door down while you pull on the filter maybe that would work.
did you ever figure this out? i have same fridge same issue
No solution. I contacted Whirlpool and got a generic response. They basically said call a repair man.
