I own the G9 (non-Neo) and the value here is versatility. You get a zero compromise Gsync 1440p 240hz 16:9 display for competitive shooters, with a seamless double 1440p setup for everything else. Pricing two displays with those specs (and bezels) and the G9 makes a lot of sense.

Great review as usual, but I will disagree with one point. I have the first G9, and haven't decided if upgrading is worth it yet, however I think this monitor is made for FPS gaming. While it is true the extreme sides do stretch a bit its hardly distracting and honestly I'm generally concentrating on the center of the screen. It does give somewhat of an advantage with all the peripheral real estate, but again not grossly unfair in any way. BF, COD, APEX, Titanfall, Doom Eternal, etc all perform flawlessly so I definitely recommend for FPS enthusiast.

Hi, great review from a gaming standpoint, but I wish you'd cover more than just gaming. I'm a music producer and CZcamsr, and I work with wide timelines both in my DAW as well as video editing. I currently have two screens side by side, and I'm considering something like this to help boost productivity. It would be great if you had talked more about how the curve of the screen works in that regard? For example, right now I have to constantly move my head around to see the edges of the two screens, and because they are flat, whatever is on either end becomes much further away, and more difficult to see, so I tend to place both screens in a kind o "V" angle to make it easier to see.
I think the curvature of this monitor could help elevate that problem since it wraps itself more around you?
I'm also a casual gamer, and I love to play some Battlefield, etc every now and then. I don't have the best graphics card, but I would probably just use the middle of the screen anyways for that.
It would be used probably 90% for work and 10% for gaming. :)

I got the G9 neo because I like the versatility of the monitor.
And I'm not the biggest Fast paced FPS shooter.
And I play more slow games like Insurgency sandstorm, squad (the game) FS2020 And many more.
And I think you forgot to mention the fact you can split the monitor into two input sources, (picture in picture). ( can't recheck cause I commenting on the phone.
Then just also for productive work it's great. The amount of apps you can have up on the monitor is insane.

Not perfect but a very huge improvement from firmware 1006.1 and there will be more firmware updates to tweak things even better. Awesome monitor and it's a good thing Samsung just updated the firmware or else it was going to be returning it because of horrible HDR. This one is a keeper and super happy.

I think the my biggest problem if any with this monitor is that I didn't think about the inputs. I am coming from the CRG9 to the Neo G9 and I wanted the 240hz, 1000R and mini LED display however my CRG9 had 2 Display Ports and 1 HDMI. So I was able to run my M1 Mac mini and my PC (5800x/3080) at 5120x1440 resolutions. Now, seems like the only way for me to have both the Mac mini and the PC with 5120x1440 is to use the PC with a HDMI 2.1 and the Mac mini with a Display port to USB C. So I am limited to 120Hz on both the Mac mini and the PC. Since the M1 Mac mini doesn't support HDMI 2.1 my resolution was limited to 3840x1080. And with the size of this monitor, I mainly play Warzone and I don't think I really saw anything over 120fps with my 3080. Just wish this would had come with the same 2 display ports as my CRG9.

Hmmm, I don’t seem to encounter the issue you describe in Apex and FPS has been glorious when a game supports it. Even if it doesn’t with nvidia scaling works wonders. I do use win 11 so perhaps the issues are more win 10 related. I love my Neo and would recommend if the price doesn’t shock you. I do hate the on-screen setup button and menu, but there is a ton of configuration options that make it a work desk power house. For gaming it can be incredibly impressive if you have the video card to drive it. With a 3080 12G I can run cyber punk at ultra (minus blur and bloom cause I hate it in all games) and it truly is awesome.
It’s just so expensive unless you can catch a deal on it (Mine cost $1300 on a sale from Samsung with extended warranty (at this price you want some security if it goes belly up). Mine was a gift and personally would have probably not paid so much, but after using it for awhile now You would have to take it from my cold dead hands.

Depends on the FPS. For cod it's brilliant as you can switch between 21:9 and 32:9 in the game menu and there is no vertical cropping. I actually play in 21:9 for cod MP and it's awesome. it's actually more immersive still than a regular 21:9 as the black bars kind of draw you in.

I have seen 100 if not more reviews about this panel, everyone says that it is a productivity beast and the gamers dream (if you have powerful GPU) but no body and I mean nobody talks about this monitor from streamers perspective. We all know how frustrating it is to manage multiple displays, so is this panel a great solution? What if you want to play 16:9 and have OBS on the one side and chat on the other side, will it work when running games boarderless full screen 16:9? Sadly no1 talks about these things so yeah this holds me back.. Dont want to pay thousands of dollars just for immersion. Still love this channel tho, dont you think that Im hating or anything like that. Cheers.

I've been looking into this as well, and from what I can tell, you need to use either 2 HDMI or 2 DP cables, which gives you Picture By Picture mode. Then, you essentially split the screen into 2x 1440p monitors. The reason for this is that, if you're streaming at full screen with it, your OBS will receive a MASSIVE source, which you'll either lose the sides to get full height, or you'll have to shrink it to fit the whole source. Also, worth noting that the Neo only has 1 Displayport 1.4 input and 2 HDMI 2.1, while the Odyssey has 2x DP 1.4 and 1x HDMI 2.0.

I am rocking the older version: Samsung Odyssey G9 AKA not the NEO, and one thing i noticed in your video is that you are sitting way to close to the monitor, my head is about 88cm away from this monitor (CENTER)-screen, unless you want the PILOT/DRIVER Feeling, then you need to get real close, but in general, you need to fit all games, you allso have to turn down the field of view to make it more normal in Apex, Warzone, Cyberpunk+++.
One really good way to compliment this screen is by buying a cornerdesk, since the screen is so curved, it fits perfectly in the corner of the room, unless you want to display the back of it which i see no point in.
in the beginning this screen was horrible for my eyes since i was sitting to close, but now, one year later and one new costume corner desk stronger! this feels like the only monitor for me.

well if ur game hasnt got ultra wide display just play it on half ur screen and play some music on the other screen. or divide intro three and move the game to the middle, idk i think the amount of customizability pays that off, ANNDDD the ultra wide display settings arent in all games but thats not the monitors fault..... i think in the future more ultra wide games will appear due to the amazing reviews on this powerful monitor Samsung Odyssey Neo G9!~~ good video!!!!

Was thinking the same. You can also plug 2 things in. If it’s to big like you said, I was hoping maybe to use half to game and the other half to stream. Depending on how the monitor works lol. Also if can do 2 inputs, be great for split screen but able to use own systems.

Seems everyone is forgetting (or to young to have experienced) The function on FPS of FOV, I would think that setting the field of view at 120 degrees (or diddling with till "right") would cure this issue with gamers. Also those FPS gamer's (cheats) that play in 3rd person would experience less nausea if screen perspective matched character focus point.
will let you know when my Neo arrives next week. 😉 👍

I find it so weird that tech youtubers only assume people will only ever use this monitor for full screen playing. For people who have 2 1440p 27 inch monitors. This make your setup super clean and you can plug your PC into the Display port and HDMi to allow you to treat the monitor as two distinct monitors with a seamless design and get 120hz which is more than enough. But I have only heard one or two people on youtube mention this. If I was to get 2 monitors that are 1440p with 1000 backlighting zones both monitors would be $1k each or close to it and have a less seamless design. This monitor only sale for $1700 is good value if you are in that market
