WOW!!! I have got to make this pie following your recipe EXACTLY!! I mean when you cut that piece and you share that side view so we can see the latyers..my mouth just started to water....LOL It looks so JUICY & DEEE-LICIOUS!! I've never made this before or eaten it for that matter, BUT, I LOVE tomatoes, so it's definitely a recipe I want to try. And, I esp am DIGGIN the cheese/mayo topping. YUUUMMMY!!! I need to hit the fruit market. I live in the city and do not grow anything...LOL Thanks loads for sharing. Arlene

I mean my Mom's had tomato pie before, Kentucky is more middle/Appalachian then south but it's close
That looks absolutely delicious! I recall years ago ( before you tube etc ) when all recipes started out as cook books you ordered through the mail. I have at least 8 of the older cookbooks and still use them all the time.

LOOKS AMAZING. It has been years since I had a piece of tomato pie. I know you said the tomatoes had to be ripe. Is it possible to make an all green tomato pie following the same steps???? It just sounds good to me. If I used green tomatoes, I probably would add just a kick of apple cider vinegar.
Gonna need some brown sugar in there & maybe some .....idk....corn?....just to meld the flavors together ? Idk...I could be wrong, but I love fried green tomatoes cooked that way.

I'm not going to bag on your recipe, but being born and raised in Alabama, I've never heard of this, nor it being a southern thing. Fried green tomatoes... absolutely. But not this. That being said, I may try it. Get enough around the south to claim it, THEN you can make it a southern thing. It might take off.
