"Japanese Ammo with Misa" is certainly, in my humble opinion, the best channel to learn japanese. I went from 0% japanese knowledge to N4 learning A LOT with her. Misa has an absolute begginer series that she teaches really basic japanese sentences pattern. She's amazing and I'm here to defend her lol. ♥
I still recommend her, which is why I put her in this video! I never meant to shed her in a negative light; I just meant to emphasize that the people who may benefit more from her channel are people who need more thorough explanations, in contrast to people who have shorter attention spans and need quick explanations. I still love her channel and think she's amazing!
@@Shelbyrei You talk about how others have English/Japanese subtitles but neglected to mention how Misas subtitles are not only dual language but color-coded as well! The color-coding is more work on her part but it also means a much better learning experience.

Definitely try to watch もしもしゆうすけ. The youtuber named Yusuke is filming diferent situation you may accounter when coming to Japan. He goes to supermarket, bookstore, rent a car, ets out... recording actual conversation with shop assistants, so you know which phrases are really used. The best this is that he has both english subtitles and japanese subtitles, which are only in hiragana, so even beginners can read them.
@Giamm Lieddack i mean nobody writes japanese in romaji, to genuinely converse. kanji is always important in japanese sentences & two kanjis can have the same pronunciation (which will be how they are spelled in romaji) but sound look different, so people know what it means. matt vs.japan (as he explains immersion & his own methods) is really good!
That Japanese man Yuta has been improving his comedy stat in a sustained and continuous way for the past weeks. I've been enjoying his channel more and more. Also learning, but it's a lot more memorable now. And I agree with Onomappu, he is top notch japanese youtuber👌

I just recently discovered Onamappu and what a find! He speaks naturally but enunciates clearly and so is very understandable. I like how he tells a funny stoty to illustrate a grammar point or phrase. He does a great job of explaining the nuance of similar expressions. Also he has a beautiful voice so he’s pleasant to listen to. He seems like a truly nice guy.
For teaching 日本語 in English, I would say that Japanese from Zero is a good channel for beginners. He is following the book he wrote, but you can just listen/watch the videos and learn a lot.
I just learned that Japanese from Zero is Yes! Japan. Which was an amazing site. I kinda got busy with life but I don't know their content too well today but they were good stuff.
I would highly recommend Matt vs Japan. I learned a lot of great things from him, and his methods of learning languages is very practical and well thought out. He doesn't only talk about Japanese exclusively, he also talks about language learning in general, whether Japanese or not. He also talks about some of the niche parts of Japanese, and some of this information is hard to come by. Nonetheless, pretty great channel! EDIT: I found an amazing Japanese channel! The channel's name is ことラボ Think Vsauce, but in Japanese and is (for the most part) focused on the Japanese language!

Onomappu and Japanese ammo with misa are my favorite channels that helped me make a lot of progress. For beginners I used misa's playlist and learnt grammar, and from onomappu you can learn a lot of onomatopoeia which is used daily, also he is really easy to understand and the content is always super interesting. Its also super helpful that there are subtitles. Basically the same thing you said in the video, thanks for all the recommendations ❤️❤️

Wow, this video is a gold mine of Japanese resources for all levels. Especially ones that include listening practice which is so hard to find! I like art channels of many forms but so many videos in Japanese are captioned and don't have voice overs or the person showing their face. I've been studying Japanese for several years, with a gap in between of several years for other studies, and I still can't hold conversations. This year I've been committed and studying at least 2 hours every day. I'm glad to have found your channel! We're on this journey together. :)
I’ve definitely went through Misa’s channel especially from advanced beginner onwards. It often relates to the grammar points that i learned in みんなの日本語 books 1 and 2. It’s cool that she gives a bit of time for you to practice and come up with the answer before saying the answers. As for Dogen, my wife, who is japanese, says that there are many learners who are fluent but when she listens to them, she can tell that it’s a japanese learner speaking however, if she listens to Dogen without seeing his face, she says he sounds exactly like a japanese person. Plus he’s extremely funny since it’s really relatable to japanese humour and culture/customs.
I would definitely suggest the "Learn Japanese From Zero" Channel. The CZcamsrs name is George and he wrote the book series Learn Japanese From Zero. The channel helps you progressively learn hiragana and katakana as well as kanji as the videos go on. He teaches proper grammar and grammatical structure, along with casual and formal Japanese

Thankyou for the video ive been looking for some more channels to help with immersion. Ive been watching もしもしゆうすけ and あかね的日本語教室 I would really recommend their videos for あかね的日本語教室 Ive found her vlogs very useful and as I learn more vocabulary I watch the videos and start to notice I can understand more and more words, she talks very clearly and the subtitles are nice to go along with it. With もしもしゆうすけ I think his file: series is very good he goes over things like going to the convenience store or a restaurant and will have maybe like 15 different recordings of these types of encounters in one video all subbed in Japanese. One thing id say to be careful with is when videos have english subtitles though because it becomes very easy to start looking at those and not take in the Japanese properly. i find its better to not look at the english subtitles even if you dont understand the Japanese as it is a distraction and i think it slows down how much Japanese you are actually taking in.
Oh My goodness, thank you...I haven''t check all of these channels out (I know several of them already), but 日本語 to 旅 〜Nihongo to Tabi〜 is amazing. He is REALLY clear, and takes the steps necessary for you to understand the next step, with Zero English. I am very impressed with this channel.
If there's a CZcams channel I would wholeheartedly recommend when it comes to learning grammar, it would be Cure Dolly. While turning on the subtitles is mandatory (even though she speaks english, the fact that it's a modified voice can be problematic), the way she teaches grammar is simply perfect. She has the knack for making seemingly hard grammatical rules easy to understand and memorize. Her grammar series is a must see, imho
I follow Misa since years, since she had like 5 videos on her channel and I love her videos. She is the only youtuber I support through patreon because I felt like I don't want to consume all these videos for free anymore.
Yeah, when I learnt Japanese back in 1998 there wasnt a lot of resources back then and didnt get exposed to the real world talking and speed of Japanese today. It caught me out when I took my JLPT test as I got 239/400 which was a fail and it was the listening which got me. Suffice to say when I was in Japan in 2003 everyone could understand what I was saying but when they spoke back it was like trying to hit a tennis ball when 500 are flying at you. Thankfully we have videos like this and others that give their time to help others. Great video!
I think that the most important feature for a video is to have reliable Japanese subtitles. English subtitles are secondary and nowadays most of videos have better insta-translation to another language that real Japanese subtitles.
You could put KORONO there, he makes videos in japanese with english subtitles, and focusses more on the games he plays, and he does not teach any japanese, he just makes SOME videos in Japanese because his audience asks him

Thank you for this video! Taught by previous experience I'm trying with watching videos this time. I was learning English all through school - and maybe I could write, read, but I couldn't understand and speak in any conversations. Learning general, grammar things is okay, but you should be able to talk and understand people. I'm going to start with Japanese so I want to do the both things - learn grammar, written language and become familiar with that listened. :D CZcams is a great option, but it's difficult to find some great channels in other language if in your suggestions/proposals are only these in your own language. XD (and now in English also) So thank you very much once again, it was a video that I really needed. :D

Tbh after you reach the early intermediate level, you won't want English subtitles anymore. You'll start to notice how they can't convey all of the nuances in Japanese speak and a lot of times even have a different meaning just to adapt better to the English language and culture.
Hi! Gotta share two non-youtube awesome resources I've found: - Wanikani Ultimate 2: Electric Boogaloo (on anki shared decks) - Bunpro First one is for learning kanji and vocab with zero effort through Anki (the spaced repetition flashcards app). They have mnemonics for both reading and meaning of each kanji and vocab, so it's both fun and easy. Second one is for spaced repetition grammar.
Yeah, I really enjoy Ononmappu-san's videos too! He is just so cute and looks like a very 元気な人. Dogen's videos are nice too, but they are kind of gloomier, I like them when I am in the same mood. Thank you for the recommendations!

i really think youtube is great if youre learning a language, i learned english through watching minecraft youtubers when i was really young, i got fluent in french because of youtube, it helps because i think it shows us how people actually talks with said language.

My favorite Japanese CZcamsr is definitely this Guy 13:16 😂 (Got recommend to his channel years ago befor I ever started learning 日本語) For learning Japanese I can't say which one I prefer the most (they r all very good) Some of the channels u was talking about I alrdy subscripted and the other I never heard about... (My content is 80% all about Japanese the other is 20% english besides on this 100% is 40% cooking, 40% study and 20% other) Sankyu Siss for ur recordations I check them decently out
I recommend Yuyu Nihongo too. It's a channel of a Japanese guy who lives in Mexic since his 20's. He talks in español on his videos, but in think it has captions too! I must verify that. Good video! Thank you very much. I'm a brazillian japanese learner

I would recommend cure dolly, although the idea of a robot teaching is a bit creepy, her videos are very easy to understand and she is/was an old English lady who lived in japan for many years.
Those are all great channels that focus on language learning methods, but in this video, I was more focusing on CZcamsrs who regularly speak in Japanese for listening comprehension practice. I watch your channel btw, thanks for commenting on my video!! 😊
I recommend Yamamomo, she does vlogs, beauty and sometimes videos of her eating food. I also recommend minicuteclub, who makes art videos (her english channel is Minori, also does art videos.)
The way you mentioned the way Onomappu doesn’t speak Japanese in a way that sounds like you’re being coddled really hits different! I work with a Japanese guy who talks super fast and I often have to apologize and ask him to speak slower, to which he responds by saying the same concept but like, snails pace with super basic wording. Like bruh just speak the same exact sentence you just said but not jumbled together 100mph 😂

Daijiro, That Japanese Man Yuta, Harada Farm, Paolo From Tokyo, Kaminogi Works, 国歌の輪プロジェクト/NATIONAL ANTHEM INTERACTING PROJECT, Linfamy, ONLY IN JAPAN, Scrum Unison, Nobita from Japan, and Langley Esquire that is the (as much as I can get at the moment anyway) total list of all the Japan-related and Japanese-language channels I have watched a lot and/or subscribed to. For me, Japanese youtube has been quite helpful with my Japanese learning experience.
NihonGoal I think is also a great channel especially if you are using the みんなの日本語 books 1 & 2. Every chapter from 1 to 50 is very well explained. Even if you don't use the みんなの日本語 series you will still benefit from her videos. She also does a separate video for vocab on each lesson.
Some great recommendations, a few I knew about, but lots of new ones. I agree about Japanese Ammo, it's not just the length but the fact that she goes off on tangents from the main grammar point, that become tangents in themselves, I just lose the thread. My favourite CZcamsr is Tokini Andy, he's been teaching the Genki textbooks together with his wife Yuki, really good for beginners.
To all of you guys I can recommend channel with name just "Comprehensible Japanese" on her videos she make a drawings and gesture with hands so it's very easy to understand what she is talking about(for example about Setsubun).There are 3 levels of difficulty :complete beginner, beginner and intermediate. 頑張って!
I am in the USA, I don't speak Japanese, but all I watch on CZcams is Japanese channels. I love Japan, I love Japanese music, and I love women from Japan. I would like to learn to speak Japanese, and I want to visit Japan some day! I watch several of the channels you mentioned, Asian Boss, Cathy Cat, Ammo with Misa, Man Yuta, etc... But I also watch channels of walking around Tokyo areas. It's like I am there, walking around. SO MANY places to EAT! Other channels I watch: CyberJapan Dancers, Sherbetchannel, Naraoka Nico, Nobita from Japan, Mrs Eats, WeatherNewFans Saya Hiyama. For music, I follow LOVEBITES and WAGAKKI BAND!

Thanks for the recommendations! I'll definitely be checking out some of the ones I haven't heard of or haven't watched too much. I have watched videos from some of these channels before (日本語の森, KemushiChan, Dogen, etc.). All great recommendations. One channel that you didn't list that I really like watching is 虹色の朝陽 (Niji iro no Asahi). The channel is created by a mother whose son, Asahi (I think he's 6yo now), is on the Autism Spectrum. She makes great videos of their life and gives tips for others on how to help young children in particular with social skills, motor skills, daily activities, and such. Although some of the terms in some videos when she's talking about the more technical aspects of Autism Spectrum Disorder may be difficult for intermediate Japanese learners, other videos of hers are great for improving your listening comprehension as she speaks clearly and in simple phrases with her kids and her voice is very easy to listen to. One downside for those who really need to rely on English subtitles is that there are no English subtitles on her videos. However, all of her videos are very well subtitled in Japanese in a large, easy-to-read font. I'd say this channel is great for slightly more advanced learners.

As for Dogen, my wife, who is japanese, says that there are many learners who are fluent but when she listens to them, she can tell that it’s a japanese learner speaking however, if she listens to Dogen without seeing his face, she says he sounds exactly like a japanese person. Plus he’s extremely funny since it’s really relatable to japanese humour and culture/customs.

I would definitely suggest the "Learn Japanese From Zero" Channel. The CZcamsrs name is George and he wrote the book series Learn Japanese From Zero. The channel helps you progressively learn hiragana and katakana as well as kanji as the videos go on. He teaches proper grammar and grammatical structure, along with casual and formal Japanese

Thankyou for the video ive been looking for some more channels to help with immersion. Ive been watching もしもしゆうすけ and あかね的日本語教室 I would really recommend their videos for あかね的日本語教室 Ive found her vlogs very useful and as I learn more vocabulary I watch the videos and start to notice I can understand more and more words, she talks very clearly and the subtitles are nice to go along with it. With もしもしゆうすけ I think his file: series is very good he goes over things like going to the convenience store or a restaurant and will have maybe like 15 different recordings of these types of encounters in one video all subbed in Japanese. One thing id say to be careful with is when videos have english subtitles though because it becomes very easy to start looking at those and not take in the Japanese properly. i find its better to not look at the english subtitles even if you dont understand the Japanese as it is a distraction and i think it slows down how much Japanese you are actually taking in.

Oh My goodness, thank you...I haven''t check all of these channels out (I know several of them already), but 日本語 to 旅 〜Nihongo to Tabi〜 is amazing. He is REALLY clear, and takes the steps necessary for you to understand the next step, with Zero English. I am very impressed with this channel.
If there's a CZcams channel I would wholeheartedly recommend when it comes to learning grammar, it would be Cure Dolly. While turning on the subtitles is mandatory (even though she speaks english, the fact that it's a modified voice can be problematic), the way she teaches grammar is simply perfect. She has the knack for making seemingly hard grammatical rules easy to understand and memorize. Her grammar series is a must see, imho

I follow Misa since years, since she had like 5 videos on her channel and I love her videos. She is the only youtuber I support through patreon because I felt like I don't want to consume all these videos for free anymore.
Yeah, when I learnt Japanese back in 1998 there wasnt a lot of resources back then and didnt get exposed to the real world talking and speed of Japanese today. It caught me out when I took my JLPT test as I got 239/400 which was a fail and it was the listening which got me.
Suffice to say when I was in Japan in 2003 everyone could understand what I was saying but when they spoke back it was like trying to hit a tennis ball when 500 are flying at you. Thankfully we have videos like this and others that give their time to help others. Great video!
I think that the most important feature for a video is to have reliable Japanese subtitles. English subtitles are secondary and nowadays most of videos have better insta-translation to another language that real Japanese subtitles.
You could put KORONO there, he makes videos in japanese with english subtitles, and focusses more on the games he plays, and he does not teach any japanese, he just makes SOME videos in Japanese because his audience asks him

I was learning English all through school - and maybe I could write, read, but I couldn't understand and speak in any conversations.
Learning general, grammar things is okay, but you should be able to talk and understand people.
I'm going to start with Japanese so I want to do the both things - learn grammar, written language and become familiar with that listened. :D
CZcams is a great option, but it's difficult to find some great channels in other language if in your suggestions/proposals are only these in your own language. XD (and now in English also)

Tbh after you reach the early intermediate level, you won't want English subtitles anymore. You'll start to notice how they can't convey all of the nuances in Japanese speak and a lot of times even have a different meaning just to adapt better to the English language and culture.
The problem with subtitles to me is that I instinctively pay total attention on reading and forget about listening to what is being said in japanese

Hi! Gotta share two non-youtube awesome resources I've found:
- Wanikani Ultimate 2: Electric Boogaloo (on anki shared decks)
- Bunpro
First one is for learning kanji and vocab with zero effort through Anki (the spaced repetition flashcards app). They have mnemonics for both reading and meaning of each kanji and vocab, so it's both fun and easy.
Second one is for spaced repetition grammar.
Yeah, I really enjoy Ononmappu-san's videos too! He is just so cute and looks like a very 元気な人. Dogen's videos are nice too, but they are kind of gloomier, I like them when I am in the same mood. Thank you for the recommendations!

i really think youtube is great if youre learning a language, i learned english through watching minecraft youtubers when i was really young, i got fluent in french because of youtube, it helps because i think it shows us how people actually talks with said language.

I would recommend cure dolly, although the idea of a robot teaching is a bit creepy, her videos are very easy to understand and she is/was an old English lady who lived in japan for many years.
So many smaller creators here but no Matt vs. Japan, Steve Kaufmann, or Lindie Botes? My mind would have jumped to them first.
Those are all great channels that focus on language learning methods, but in this video, I was more focusing on CZcamsrs who regularly speak in Japanese for listening comprehension practice. I watch your channel btw, thanks for commenting on my video!! 😊
JUJUWORLD is one of my favorite channels to watch in free time.
I recommend Yamamomo, she does vlogs, beauty and sometimes videos of her eating food. I also recommend minicuteclub, who makes art videos (her english channel is Minori, also does art videos.)

The way you mentioned the way Onomappu doesn’t speak Japanese in a way that sounds like you’re being coddled really hits different! I work with a Japanese guy who talks super fast and I often have to apologize and ask him to speak slower, to which he responds by saying the same concept but like, snails pace with super basic wording. Like bruh just speak the same exact sentence you just said but not jumbled together 100mph 😂

that is the (as much as I can get at the moment anyway) total list of all the Japan-related and Japanese-language channels I have watched a lot and/or subscribed to. For me, Japanese youtube has been quite helpful with my Japanese learning experience.
NihonGoal I think is also a great channel especially if you are using the みんなの日本語 books 1 & 2. Every chapter from 1 to 50 is very well explained. Even if you don't use the みんなの日本語 series you will still benefit from her videos. She also does a separate video for vocab on each lesson.
I live my life every day with “Nihongoal” 🥰🙏👍 Without her channel I would have a hard time to study JP from zero. 💞

Some great recommendations, a few I knew about, but lots of new ones. I agree about Japanese Ammo, it's not just the length but the fact that she goes off on tangents from the main grammar point, that become tangents in themselves, I just lose the thread. My favourite CZcamsr is Tokini Andy, he's been teaching the Genki textbooks together with his wife Yuki, really good for beginners.

Kimono Mom is also a awesome channel. Is a cooking channel. All the videos have english subtitles and she uses very simple language.
To all of you guys I can recommend channel with name just "Comprehensible Japanese" on her videos she make a drawings and gesture with hands so it's very easy to understand what she is talking about(for example about Setsubun).There are 3 levels of difficulty :complete beginner, beginner and intermediate.

I am in the USA, I don't speak Japanese, but all I watch on CZcams is Japanese channels. I love Japan, I love Japanese music, and I love women from Japan. I would like to learn to speak Japanese, and I want to visit Japan some day! I watch several of the channels you mentioned, Asian Boss, Cathy Cat, Ammo with Misa, Man Yuta, etc... But I also watch channels of walking around Tokyo areas. It's like I am there, walking around. SO MANY places to EAT! Other channels I watch: CyberJapan Dancers, Sherbetchannel, Naraoka Nico, Nobita from Japan, Mrs Eats, WeatherNewFans Saya Hiyama. For music, I follow LOVEBITES and WAGAKKI BAND!

Thanks for the recommendations! I'll definitely be checking out some of the ones I haven't heard of or haven't watched too much. I have watched videos from some of these channels before (日本語の森, KemushiChan, Dogen, etc.). All great recommendations.
One channel that you didn't list that I really like watching is 虹色の朝陽 (Niji iro no Asahi). The channel is created by a mother whose son, Asahi (I think he's 6yo now), is on the Autism Spectrum. She makes great videos of their life and gives tips for others on how to help young children in particular with social skills, motor skills, daily activities, and such. Although some of the terms in some videos when she's talking about the more technical aspects of Autism Spectrum Disorder may be difficult for intermediate Japanese learners, other videos of hers are great for improving your listening comprehension as she speaks clearly and in simple phrases with her kids and her voice is very easy to listen to. One downside for those who really need to rely on English subtitles is that there are no English subtitles on her videos. However, all of her videos are very well subtitled in Japanese in a large, easy-to-read font. I'd say this channel is great for slightly more advanced learners.

I really enjoy shufu channels and recommend them to anyone who wants to learn how to cook, clean, and organize in Japan. My personal faves are Shiho Channel and Rinako Channel. I've also recently gotten into Japanese Booktubers because I am reading novels in Japanese. Bungaku CZcamsr Beru is great!
