I wonder if that was her grandmother's sifter. I have my mother's -- I'm 64, and it's painted a creamy white with little red roses and a red wooden ball at the end of the turner. She would let me sift the flour when she baked for Christmas when I was little. It's one of my happiest childhood memories of my mother. If you have a vintage sifter, you do not wash it. You use it, and knock any flour residue from it, and put it back in the cabinet -- yes, you can use a modern seive, but it's something about turning the handle ......
Hey Sara! Those pancakes look gooooood! Sometimes, I like to shred Apple's and chopped walnuts into the pancake mix.... Also, a handful of rolled oats and raisins.

I love this video because it reminds me of my Mom. The recipe is almost exactly the same as one I got out of my Mom’s old Betty Crocker cookbook many years ago. I remember my Mom teaching me how to make buttermilk, or “sour” milk. And I have my Mom’s sifter, which is just like Sara’s! Thanks, Sara, for bringing back all the Mom memories!
Just a suggestion. I was always told that if you let the batter sit for about 15 - 20 min before frying helps make them even fluffier! I do the same with all cake batters etc. If you put it in a measuring cup you will actually see that it does rise.

Awesome! Buttermilk and sifting flour makes for the best pancakes. I put oil in my batter to make a crispy pancake but cook it in butter to give it that flavor. Also, I use a ladle too
I'm a waffle girl. I bought this amazing cusinart waffle maker a few years back, and its amazinggg! I'm Canadian, so I always have that pure Canadian maple syrup + butter.

I love banana pancakes very ripe bananas added too batter so delish!! And l Love blueberry also. But I cook mine in cooking oil browns up nicer then put a little butter on top with favorite syrup

You don’t get lumps if you add the liquid gradually. Just sayin....and you won’t have to add more flour cos you then only add what you need....you pressed all the air out of that flour lol
If they are supposed to be "fluffy" why did you press down the dry ingredients after you sifted it and pressed down on the pancakes while cooking them? 🤔
I know it's not fashionable anymore, but we use butter flavored Crisco in the pan instead of butter. These look delicious and I would top with real butter and real maple syrup!

I sometimes slice up a banana and put it on there when I flip it over. That is really good, and the maple syrup all over.
