  • Rosmarinus officinalis/Rosemary bonsai are a difficult species despite being a popular and easily obtainable plant in UK gardens.
    The main reason is their inability to handle disturbance of the roots and repotting. The surprising trick to keeping them successfully is to repot during the hottest part of the summer…in July!!

    I have a Rosemary which I try training as bonsai for 3 years now and really struggled to find information about this species as bonsai. That’s one of my favourite, it has really short leaves and flowers at least twice a year. Now I finally know the best time to repot it. Thank you for this informative and enjoyable video!

    Here in Southern California spring is still best time for me to repot rosemary. I experimented with summer repotting, but it’s never worked out. Good to see more people working with rosemary!

    Great advice about repotting trees , what an unusual trunk on this tree, is that normal for this species Harry ?

      @bonsai4me2  Před 2 lety +2

      Very much. Rosemary will often develop quite ‘different “ trunkline. Embrace them!!

      I think you’ll forward nd folks have found anything from September through to March works. If there’s a sweet spot I don’t know, but they aren’t a problem with regard to repotting. Generally.
