It's her wisdom that I admire. Karen was able to bring out from her authority and brilliance of what she was talking about. Both did a good job tho.

As a political science graduate I agree with Prof. Carlos' approach via regional and even multi-regional alignment. We should be making alliances strategically and economically with other similarly affected countries within the region. As long as China is the factory of the world, they will always use the trump card in inflicting maximum economic pain to their perceive enemies or those who oppose them. That is the reality. However, it also a reality that China is already in our backyard and Taiwan is in their cross air. What will you do if war breaks out between China, the US, and Japan? The Philippine cannot be fence sitter here because it will have repercussions not only with our relationship with China but with our long-standing ally, the US. The Duterte administration tried to pacify China but did the red dragon acceded? Prof. Carlos pointed out that there is a MOA between the coast guards of China and the Philippines, and yet even the Chinese Ambassador is not aware of this. I find that odd and concerning because it only goes to show that China does not respect even bilateral agreement, in principle, when it comes to issues of sovereignty. Do we compromise our own sovereignty in this regard? In real politik one will say one thing and does the other. We are grip in fear that China, a superpower, will decimate us. If Zelensky of Ukraine took America's offer of a ride, they will not be victorious in retaking the Kherson region. Sure, the US and Europe provided the weapons, but it is the will of the nation that fueled the victory. Logistics is what wins war not fire power. Moscow is 1000 km away from the Belgorod bordering Ukraine. China is a 1000 nautical miles away from Spratly, which is within the 200 nautical miles exclusive economic zone of the Philippines. Plus the People Liberation Arm (PLA) are not battle tested. Remember how the Filipinos won over the contingent of North Koreans and Chinese (PLA) in the battle of Yultong during the Korean war in the 50s despite being outnumbered 10 to 1? We do not want war. No one does. We have to find a way to avoid it. But we also have to stand our ground. There is a Russian word which escapes me. A story of a man during the Soviet revolution was struck down several times by the Bolsheviks to submission but he kept on standing up bloodied and weak. Eventually, the Bolsheviks gave up and said " No use beating him down. He wont submit", and the man was eventually left alone. Who do you think won?

Are you sure PLA is not battle tested? The PLA ( PVA) kicked out Gen. Macarthur US and UN forces from North Korea and sent them back to below 38th parallel with US UN forces 230,000 deaths. Gen. Macarthur main plan of reunification was completely destroyed by China PLA. MacArthur planned for amphibious landing in China but changed mind when he received estimate of US UN losses that is half of their entire strength ( unacceptable losses). Besides this Philippines has no real war or battle experience. Fighting rebels who are just armed with rifles can not be considered battle experienced. Battle of Paracel islands involved China MiG17 &19, frigates,corvettes and minesweeper and against South Vietnamese navy with US naval advisor, 4 Frigates, and smaller vessels. Happened during Vietnam war. This lasted 3 days of naval battle ending in the capture of paracel islands , capture of US naval advisors and China naval victory. Johnson reef naval battle ended in China naval victory, sinking two Vietnamese naval ships and killing 70 Vietnamese and capture of Johnson reef. In 1965, China air force shotdown Capt. Philips Smith F104 starfighter in a dogfight with MIG17 . Capt. Smith would spend eight years in China jail. The next months would be a bad experience for US with losses of at least 20 US combat planes( F4,A6,RB66,A1,F105 and other US planes) shotdown thru dogfights with China MIG17. Does Phil. Airforce has dogfight experience? None. Amphibious landing experience by Phil. Marines? None. Did Macarthur won Korean war? Loud No. China won Korean war. Battle of Yultong pass was useless and waste of lives due to loss in Korean war. North Korea will not exist had US won the Korean war.

Both Carlos and Davila expressed their opinion, I don't hear any ideas of how it will help. Carlos thinks she's right of what she knows. I think Filipinos should unite, to make the Philippines strong. It's in the hand of BBM to make the Filipinos and the country strong.
it seems that Pres. Xi Jinping does not have command to her Coast guards to let our fisherfolks do their fishing even bullying our Coast Guards with blinding lasers. It only proper that PBBM will continue the EDCA or even improve it.
