I had a 64 Comet R code 289 4 speed 0:00 black on black back in my teens. It was a fun car to drive. The keys were shaped like the Mercury guy on the trunk lid.
@bmepdoc9675 OH ,YES ,YES IT DOES !! I HAD A1963 MERCURY MONTERY CONV. DARKER BLUE !! AND YOU WOULD HERE ME COMING FROM A MILE AWAY IF NOT MORE !! SORRY TO DISAGREE WITH U !!👍👍✌️🖐
My first car was a used 1964 Ford Falcon - similar body to the Mercury Comet. Unlike this red Cyclone, the ignition was on the left side, which was characteristic of Fords of that era.
Nice ride you guys not many left on the road You guy's always make my day you two make a great team Can't wait to see the next ride Al from Alberta Canada 🇨🇦
Actually that k code 289 was not the same k code for the mustang. It would actually be the 230 hp 289 not the 270hp mustang motor Ford wouldn't let mercury have that 289 before the mustang was out for a while beautiful car tho not many left that nice

The k-code was available in the 1964 and 1965 Fairlane also. Nice Cyclone.
Cyclone are the most under- rated cars. The K code was rare and very desirable.
Gonna buy myself a Mercury, cruise up and down the road 🎶🎵

The k code 289 stood alone 👍
Outstanding little car !! Love the 289 4speed wish the price was around 40!! Lol
The very first car I purchased, in 1967, was a 1963 Mercury Comet. I paid $250 for it.
It needs some Road Runner Glass packs from back in the day !!!!👌👍👍✋✌👈❤
