As an old Norton rider these are underpowered for the price!
Good to see Norton back and much evolved without losing it's distinct style. as most bikes today look like pissed off insects, I really enjoyed my Norton 850 commando roadster 50 years ago. Though far out of my affordable means, The Ranger appeals to me now days, as i am in my 70's and find myself missing my 1967 Triumph 200 Mountain Cub,
When it comes to motorcycles the Brits make really good beer.
Brings back great memories of my Commando Interstate and my Norton Dunstall 810. Few if any bikes had the handling of a Norton! It’s great to see the elements of the old Norton’s reborn! It’s a little late for me as I’m now 79 yo and I envy the youngsters who will have the thrill of the Norton heritage.
Absolutely Spectacular bikes!, I love Norton!!!
Yeah. Norton does have quite a lot of potential.
I wish Norton well - I once owned a Commando 750 - but this could have been written by the company's ad. agency.
Greed!!!! At these prices...get ready for bankruptcy.....
The Commando sp all day long 👌💯👍
Norton, BSA, as will as Triumph were the pride of UK...thier rivals were japanese innovation bikes...
Nice but far to expensive for my tastes.
It would great to have Norton in Canada.
77hp seems a bit lacklustre for a modern near-1000cc motorcycle? My 1971 Commando Combat wasn’t far behind that with nominal 65hp for a 750, so they say. And you don’t even get a six-speed box? Guess it’s a step up from the old four-speed. I’ll admit the twins are nice looking machines, but if I was to part with that sort of cash I’d be looking to get one of the original Mk-3 Commando Roadsters instead, with most of the bugs ironed out.
only riders that can feel the difference between concrete that is rebar reinforced, and non-rebar reinforced, are the people that can tell the difference between full soft and full hard settings in Ohlins suspensions
12cc V4 engine...cant wait for that one.....makes Honda's 125cc 5 cylinder of the 60s, look huge.
Talk to Al Gorithm. Only he can explain why the absence of two zeros is meaningless.
Coming from the Norton Dominator 88-99 era as l do l believe it was the best bike they built. they had an enviable reputation for handling...Featherbed...it fact it was so good...for its time...we would swop out the Norton engine and stick a Triumph Bonnie engine in its place..
The ranger is a great new model and the fit, finish and QC at Norton is top notch and there are no shortcuts on the materials used or the craftsmanship. Better even than Triumph and their sppe triple 1200 is gorgeous and faster but even the great fit and finish on the triumph is tip top. The 765 street triple is the other one i like and the bonneville 1200 scrambler but the commando 961 TT edition is really gorgeous.
No dealer network switches ownership every couple of years or so huge money ! Sorry a poor man like myself will have to stick with my Triumphs
Of course the benefit of sticking with Triumph is that you get to own a far better bike 👍
All look very sophisticated, but has any one actually seen one on the road...the ad talks a good fight!
Good to see Norton making motorcycles by hand Hope they stick to air cooled motorcycle the best
Hope so!
“The 16 liter fuel tank for the long rides”
On a 185 hp V4?
Are they taking the piss on us? Where’s the Joker?
961 is very likeable, the rest is unsound trash?I'm not confident about Norton's future!
Oh dear, I just had a look how many 961’s were licensed in the UK in 2023, if I’m reading it right it’s around 150, doesn’t sound great does it 😕
The price is probably keeping that number low.
@@bobmarlowe3390 Yes Bob, they are very expensive, also it’s a niche market, the retro cafe racer has had its day in terms of fashion , Triumph have just stopped production of the 1200 Thruxton due to declining sales (glad about that as it makes mine more exclusive! 🙂), so you have an expensive retro bike with quite a few weaknesses compared to its competitors (low power, vibration, poor dealer network, high price), it’s doomed to failure I would say, the only thing that potentially will save it is TVS’s future plans for the brand as a whole, nobody knows what they are, 125cc Norton’s?, who knows!
Did not Norton scrap production plans for the Atlas at the beginning of this year?
sadly they did. I rode one in 2019 and it was fantastic
Can u stop saying bad boy?5.29 the engine is chain driven ??
I do not like the fastback tail section. I trying to be really optimistic about Norton making a comeback. So far the V4 SV is probably my favorite offering. I seriously doubt I will ever even see a Norton here in the US. THEY BETTER BE BETTER THAN A LAND ROVER OR JAGUAR OR MINI. Come on UK get it together. Doing pretty good with Triumph.
Agreed A LIMEY g
961 classic: tail shape concept directly from a space ship
My first street bike was a 750 Norton Atlas 1965 model. She only had 7,000 mi on her... $ 250. Dollars
A Georgian mansion in Surrey,England, sitting in 22 acres was only £22.000 in 1968,I just found an old magazine, so $250 was a lot of cash,if that house is worth a minimum of £22m today ?
Call me old fashioned but i think wrap around rear fenders are naff.
Are they going to make more than 2 bikes in 2024?
The ranger was scrapped last year!
I’m a Commando 961 lad, but, unfortunately, this lovely machine is out of my reach nowadays😢ATB, mates🍀
Didn't Norton go bust a while ago?
And where can they be maintained?
Where is the green bike on the thumbnail?
Best option is to wait for used ones to hit the market. Would never want to pay full price for any of these.
timeless that bollocks its not all britsh its more EU
I wanted see the green bike
Rich man's plaything.
🥱
I have a question ❓
I want to be a TRUXTON 🏍️
Naked ones would look great but very much spoiled by blued discoloured downpipes which look absolutely terrible! All are too expensive!
Blom masuk indonesia 7 jenis type motor norton keluaran terbaru
Is there a difference between a 961 and a 9…61?🤔🤔🤔
Only your algorithm knows for sure.
“Its not pocket change but can you put a price on ____…” YES. Yes, you can and its not $10k more than the next bike.
Only available in the UK. Not in the US or Europe.
Not exportable to countries that have airpollution regulations.
Over 20,000 dollar's with tax for commando ,if you could get one in usa.
Wow
Basically the same two bikes they have been selling for a while now plus one fictitious one. The 650 is not in production and there is no published price.
The world is mad ............too complex , too much to go wrong . Completely impractical on today’s roads ......DaveH
Royal enfield is going to own the market. Look how far they have come. Time is up for these companies.
Anyone had a quote for insurance for these bikes!
Yes, bloody expensive.
Unless, of course, you park it in your living room.
Matchless and AJS were the first marque with swimgarm rear suspension. Full length oil damped rear shock absorbers, telegraphic front suspension and actually purchased Norton in 1954. When the Norton Commando went into production, the Norton factory was already closed and all assembly was done at Plumbstead. They were really a Matchless/AJS in disguise.
NoMorgan in about 1911
@@franhealey644 The 1911 Morgan Runabout was a three wheeled car, it was not a motorcycle. It had seats, door and a steering wheel. It was not even an outfit. You do know the difference between a car and a motorcycle do you?
All lovely bikes but such a pity they are so expensive so as to put them out of the reach of so many that would genuinely want to own and use one as a daily ride.
Maybe onday they might put a road going version of the Manx together
@@TheBlibo I have a brace of both in my garage, as well as a lifetime of basket cases to restore. I started collecting 30 yrs ago and people thought I was a few cents short of the dollar with all my purchases. The reality is that I couldn't purchase what I have now, values have risen so much. In the end we are only custodians. Other people will have the joy of ownership when I pass on.
JAWA had swinging arm in 1953..
Again!
Who owns Norton now?
16 grand for 70 hp no chance
norton made their last good bike before 1935
To expensive for what you getting
are these engines made by Norton, they have a history of rebadging engines since the 1950s AJS/Matchless. the Commando is OK but the seat has to go, does anyone make another seat and rear end as the one it has now is awful, a nice big fat flat seat like the original Commandos had would be much better, this so-called review must have been paid for by Norton, not one single negative and showing bikes that will never go into production, the Atlas was scrapped before this video was posted,
Foreign engines in Nortons have a history dating back to the first Isle of Man Tourist Trophy win in 1904. Peugeot engined Norton.
Tosh
Norton, Hand Crafted by a real human not some heartless machine, So why then, use some DOS 6.0 powered AI to really bugger up the english language and make a good experience awful?
there not building the 650 sorry
Terrible machine narration for beautiful machines.
They are hardly Bad Boys.
British bike being reviewed by an American .....come on
Only for rich people so why bother to watch this crap as you get all the performance for quarter the price
that atlas is horrid!!! looks like a group of 18 year old students designed that.....with lego......
