  • Hollywood's Hallowed Grounds: Episode 2 - Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure (1989). So my friend Pat from Arizona texted me and told me that the Metrocenter Mall used in the film Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure was closing on Tuesday June 30th forever to be torn down. So I called my buddy Adam The Woo and said let's take a road trip to Arizona. The next day we were on the road. It was quite an adventure too. I appreciate the video you shared! It really took me back to my childhood days at Metro Center Mall. I have fond memories of playing a game with my siblings where we would only step on the brown tiles, avoiding the white ones. Ah, those were the good old days!

I grew up in the Phoenix area mostly in Scottsdale Arizona.
I graduated from Coronado high school in 1975. Watching the movie brought me back to those days and those images are almost identical to the ones I would have seen just a dozen or so years earlier. In fact toward the end of the movie the camera passes a classroom where I took latin in 1972. The mural they speak of At the school on the auditorium was designed by Joe Gatti who was my art teacher and also a crafts teacher at the school for many years during the 60s and 70s.
Thank you for posting this it was really nice to see that again.

Well, now that excellent Shout! Factory Blu-ray set is complete! What an episode. Thanks so much for hunting down the HHG of this beloved Classic. Went to University at ASU, and visited Coronado High way back in 2000. Wish I had taken pictures of the Campus then, as I knew there was something strangely familiar about its' distinctive architecture. Awesome Stuff. RIP MetroCenter Mall, and "Party On Dudes!"

@@malfuncsean Well, it worked out great. A little more distance from the filming, and coincided perfectly with the closing of the Metro Center Mall this year. Would a HHG episode work for "Bogus Journey?" It feels like that was mostly set bound, with the elaborate "Heaven & Hell" sequences. Although, of course, the legendary Vasquez Rocks played a large role. Thanks again for the 'excellent' trip.

Where the Antique photo store was you could turn left around the corner and exit. the photo store ran along that part of the alley. I remember it well. In fact I was at Metrocenter mall When I saw the movie for the firs time. The whole theater screamed "metro" at the escalator scene.

Fun bit a trivia, We lived on Carson the street behind the bowling alley. When we moved into the house the bowling alley did not exist. We played on the slabs before they were titled to become the walls of the bowling alley. If you look at the wall behind Napoleon when he gets tossed out the door. you see all those black skuffs. That is from us kids all parking our bikes and leaning them on that wall. Those are from the tires of the bikes leaning on that wall. We would then go inside and play pinball and other arcaded games in that little alcove next to the door.

Some more info about "The Alley"... you know how there are service corridors running behind the stores, for employees to take out garbage, and to receive deliveries? Imagine if someone said "Hey, let's open up one of those corridors to shoppers, and use the back of the retail space as the front!" So you entered a narrow space between two stores and found yourself in a brick-walled corridor of little shops behind the mall-facing stores, with some old signage and junkyard-type props on the wall for decoration. The old-west photo booth where Lincoln takes his picture was an actual store.

Cool video. I always figured that wasn’t really San dimas. Cause you don’t see hills or mountains n the background

I had commented on Adam's mall video, but figured I'd say the same here, if you happen to have a business email I have a pretty big collection of B&T memorbilia and collectables, some production prints and various artwork, if youd like to see I'd love to share it with you, I unfortunately dont have any social medias so I'd have to email photos I have of the collection, great video tho really dope you took the time and love to share and go through the locations I've really been waiting for someone to do the bill and ted spots for years and I'm stoked to finally be able to see it done! Party on dude! 🤙🤙
