Earlier this year we dealt with the aftermath of many many years of attending Beaulieu for over 40years as we tried to clear out a family friends garages - hidden amongst endless Morris, Singer and Arrol Johnson Spares we found his meticulously kept Beaulieu notebook. He went every year with the same friend to the same hotel, with this note book where he had the part name, number and little sketches of parts he needed. There were additional notes about where he had spotted one on the field and prices and if he had got one. Being that serious about it obviously worked as his cars were immaculate and he had every spare you could dream of at least thrice over!

I was standing about three feet from you at one point and I knew I had seen you somewhere but I couldn't think where! Hope you enjoyed your day. I've been going to Beaulieu autojumble most years for forty years now. I always spend more than I should but it's only once a year. Great video!

Beaulieu Autojumble is older than I am. I'm 53. That's pretty good going by any standards!

Jon is a great guy, very chilled for a CEO and he’s a proper car enthusiast too. That’s his own car he’s standing in front of.

  • @hilltopmachineworks2131

Neat to see and thanks for the walk about. That pretty much is the way our auto fairs/swap meets are here in the states.

Wow, great memories...we went a couple of times in the early rockin 80s...I remember seeing old blokes walking around with cardboard signs round their necks with the parts they were after written on them! Your film makes me want to try it again. Thanks Steph

Did you only go for one day Steph?😂😂 I used to live just a few miles from Beaulieu but didn't often go to the jumble. Suppose if it's on your doorstep you take it for granted. I love some of those characters especially the 'almost 90' Gent bless him. Hope you didn't spend too much money! I think you should go for two days next year.😂 Joking aside do take care Steph and thanks for sharing this video of your rummage. 👍 👍PS I love the Zephyr. ❤

Top quality video Steph, great work.
The only way to do the event in a day is to not stop to talk to anyone, and talking and meeting people is half the fun.

Love the video Steph. I do actually collect old car mags & sales brochures as well. I've also got original reviews of the Motor Shows on DVD and via mags, I also collect models of great old cars and have since Christmas 1988.

That is great Steph, an autojumble is called or known as a swap meet in Australia.

Was the Postman Pat Van up for sale? I recognise it from a eBay Advert just recently.
For me I would be in and out of the car brochures area and trying to find car brochures of my childhood, just like Mr Walsh from Practical Classics.
Great video as always Steph and great guests sharing their buys.

I think I had that same Ford Scorpio brochure that the chap from Practical Classics bought. 😁 Got my copy from a Ford display at the Great Yarmouth Motor Show in 1995 or 96.
Looks like a great day out. Shame I only drive a 4 year old car.

Now there's a classic petrolheads idea of a weekend of heaven. I'd be limiting myself to a budget for magazines etc otherwise the car would be overloaded, and my bank balance would be empty lol

Definitely something completely different Steph l do like you spoke to many people especially the dye cast model collector and that book he bought l would find that book intresting in Australia we never would have an event like this and l don't think they would have any parts for my 1997 toyota hilux any way l can get brand new parts for it l have a very good spare parts shop in the area l live in Sydney Australia
