@@Royru as a Kid I played SMW like a freaking madman. Still got a shitton of muscle memory but never cultivated it in adulthood (no time, no patience).
Its really remarkable how fast you process totally new levels and act accordingly on first try.

they don't it's just the way the game is made is that enemies will despawn if you get too far but things like yoshi and powerups never despawn, so the mushroom kept going because the muncher despawned and didn't cover the hole anymore, or something like that
