    Thanks for the review! I'd like to pickup this tank at some point. I always wanted a small nano tank!

      I think it could use some work in terms of the functional design...but it's definitely a nice little tank.

    Thanks for the video. I'll be picking up one of these soon. Also, you have a PENNY Poster on the background so, You're cool!

      Yo! Thank you so much. Penny was my favorite player growing up, and is still probably my favorite NBA player of all time. Just a genuinely good guy and a great player marred by injuries...

    Curious, how does the skit in the return line work? Or I guess, is it just small enough that some water Flores’s out of it, but the majority goes back into the tank?

    Hey, great video. Do you know if the regular spec V can be converted to saltwater (fish only) with it's stock equipment? Thanks.

    • @TheFishTankGuy
      @TheFishTankGuy Před 2 lety

      I do not know for certain, but I don't see any reason why not, especially if you are going for a fish only tank. I'm converting a freshwater 5g tank to saltwater currently...however, I will say that 5g is not much to work with in terms of adding fish. Maybe only one fish and some inverts...

      That's awesome man...when I was young I was a huge MJ fan...until he retired the first time....I started following Penny and he became my all-time favorite player. Would've loved to see what he could've done without all the injuries.

  • @Tetrastuctural_Intelligence

    Have you considered just running your heater a little hotter to get the right temp in the display tank?

    • @TheFishTankGuy
      @TheFishTankGuy Před 3 lety

      Well the issue is that due to the organization of the chambers, the water doesn't cycle through that last chamber very well, the heat trickles into the display.

    Here's a tip for all of you I got this tank and you're not satisfied with the flow from the pump. Take the nozzle off the end. It reduces the pump by about half. You'll gain all of the water flow you need by just simply removing the nozzle

    • @TheFishTankGuy
      @TheFishTankGuy Před 11 měsíci

      Didn't realize it had that much of an impact!

      @@TheFishTankGuy oh its horrible lol....i set mine up and was like what? Then i took it off to see flow without it....and ya...like 5x more flow

  • @MarieHalle
    @MarieHalle Před 4 lety +5

    The slit in the back wall makes little difference to the flow. I added a hydor nano 240 for flow, I also am using only the biomax pack and a small bag of seachem matrix in the filter compartment, nothing else, a small heater and the hydor nano on the back wall. Water changes, and everything is good. The light supports low flow, low light corals like lps easily enough lighting for those. Too bad you gave it a bum review, I feel you probably neglected the tank to the point it started to fail. Its a small tank and if you don't maintain it, with simple regular maintenance, its will slowly fail to the point where you dislike it and give up on it. Its easier to do the maintenance than to try to revive it later after a period of neglect.

    The fluval tanks are great, for what they are..... they function better if you have a decent light. The stock light is a pile of crap. Upgrade to a much more powerful lighting system and a little minor tweaking on the filtration and a tank runs like a charm

    • @TheFishTankGuy
      @TheFishTankGuy Před 7 měsíci +1

      I think the EVO 13.5G is the perfect starter saltwater tank...and in my experience, the stock light on the 13.5G worked great! No SPS, but everything else grew and looked good.

    • @surfpanther
      @surfpanther Před 7 měsíci

      @@TheFishTankGuy it's okay but lots of people have had issues with them failing so I just upgraded . But I agree the 13.5 is a good starter size! Although in my experience all of these small tanks are difficult to level off your nitrates.... less water means faster swings

    Never plug that hole in the back of the wall! It prevents the chambers from drying up and keeps your heater submerged.
