Exactly. It's the yin-yang madness of life. The darkness and the light. The hope of innocence/purity in a young child and the fatalistic nihilism of our worst adult nature. There's a sense of resignation in this song. Eminem knows his life is over because he murdered Kim and her lover but he loves his daughter and takes consolation in the fact that she can escape the cycle of pain/torment and live a better life than he did.
This song is more eerie than scary, he's trying to sugar coat all these horrible and awful things like murder, dead bodies, and the disposing of one's body.
The thing with these Em songs is you can actually follow the whole STORY in your mind and imagine it happening, just like he is narrating. Not many ppl can do this.
this is the epitome of dark genius. it's a really good and creative song. i don't care if its messed up it's better to express his feelings creatively in a song rather than actually killing someone.
If you want to feel a thousand years old, here is a fact: Hailie turned 25 on Christmas day 2020, which means that she is now the exact age that Eminem was when this song was recorded.
Me and my dad used to listen to this all the Time when I was like 5, now that I can listen to the songs lyrics it makes me think about the mindset my dad was in
But if Eminem never became a successful rapper, he would have become a serial killer and his first victim would have been Kim, he's not a good man he's just a rich man now.
Em's ability to create a whole vivid picture at the same time as a musical piece, with good flow and wordplay, is truly amazing. Its dark and its really thought provoking. He's one of a kind.
But if Eminem never became a successful rapper, he would have become a serial killer and his first victim would have been Kim, he's not a good man he's just a rich man now.
Haile is an honors student! She's never in the spotlight. She didn't end up being a whore, or center of attention like EVERYONE thought she would be because of eminems songs...She did the opposite and that's to eminems parenting! He was always honest with her.
I remember hearing this song for the first time back in 1999 when i was 14. I heard My Name Is on a TV channel in the UK called The Box and asked my parents if they would buy me Em's album. Thankfully they brought me a the CD (cutting edge technology at the time for me! lol). When 97 Bonnie and Clyde played i just sat there in silence with my jaw on the floor! I couldn't believe what i was hearing! Crazy, crazy song! Been hooked on Eminem since!

Especially one as dark as this??? Absolutely nobody lol
Aside from the dark nature of this song, the writing and storytelling behind this song is fucking amazing. Em paints the picture so vividly It almost feels like you're at a lake in the woods watching a crazy dude and his daughter getting away with murder.

One of a very few songs which still has power to bring a tear to my eye.... maybe it's just the nostalgia.... Damn I forgot how good Em was in his prime
This song literally gave me chills listening to it back to it in the 1990s. the guy that sign Em heard this song and it gave him the same feeling. still listening to this in 2017. not one rapper in 2017 can tell a story like this
@Baconmaka I'm a huge Tyler fan, that song feels a lil incomplete to me, but still good ASF. But what makes this song so crazy is when it was written. No mainstream artist was doing this crazy shit back then.
I remember listening to this years ago when I was little, it calmed me down when I was upset, so now this is where I come when I feel sad or just stressed, bit of a fucked up lullaby but it works for me I guess
+Gamer Geek Risto I can relate to what you say. But "Love" in full effect, is a VERY dangerous power. If one is not prepared for the contingency of it "failing" - which is Catastrophic for many, it can Totally destroy a man or woman & ruin ones life. Or turn one into a Monster. Even when one is successful in other areas. That is the sentiment I get from this track. The "role" of Hailey in this serves as theatrical contrast with with the core theme is INTENSIFIED. This is pushed to its limits by the "airy" yet ominous sound track with added little baby chirps thrown in for good measure. This is NOT the solitary genius work of Marshal Mathers , but the combined work of his professional producers and sound engineers from the record label with college or University degrees, who KNOW how to use the science of the medium to make lots of money, by "Boosting" Eminem". In Any event, although I myself am not a big fan of M.M. I do like this track more than anything else I've heard come out of his "crew" and although not really objectively "funny" I still get a laugh out of it & think it is a great track.
well if you knew anything about em he doesn't curse or let her listen to any of his songs but she prob heard most of them now since she is what 21-22 years old now
*I love the way he talks (raps, whatever) with his children in a song* ❤️ *btw 2018 anyone ? Cuz I don't think people appreciate the old gold they like "Gucci Gang"* 😶😒
It’s fun to see new Em fans coming here and react like WTF Em? While i’m sitting here wym wtf? This shit is why i fell in love with him 20 years ago 💯🐐
When I was growing up my big brother would play Eminem so much that he was my favorite and I would sit on my brothers lap and drive from to the movies to watch blade and he died last year n now I can’t stop crying listening to this album
Lynched Killer kind of just because he is talking about killing Kim does not mean nothing he has other songs about killing Kim yes the lyrics are dark but there is some more artists are my dark and morbid and that is what horror core is about
this song is so beautiful really it is, its really beautiful eminem may not be the best husband, son, or person in general but hes a great father who really really really loves his fucking daughter and he knows how to treat her right and take care of her perfect song to dedicate to someone
Attempt? I wasn't attempting to do anything, I actually love this song. But if you think that's being a good father ( not saying he's a bad one now ) then maybe you shouldn't have children in the future. But really.. you're probably in middle school i'm grown asf so kiddo isn't anywhere near my description.
ha, sure. im also "grown asf" and you seem like a fucking moron who cant distinguish between different kinds of relationships and judges those relationships when you barely know shit about them. marshall treats his daughter like a princess and hes an amazing father and both hailey and kim herself have testified to that so yeah GG nice failed attempt AGAIN
Okay AGAIN I'm not making an attempt to do shit, you seem mad, when i first commented it wasn't an attempt it was my sarcasm. If you don't know what the fuck that is then look that shit up because apparently you don't. But you're missing the point sweetheart, whoever takes their daughter to make a murder song about their mom, isn't fit > AT THE MOMENT
When Em wrote this song (well, it's a very long song, 3 parts) it was the very beginning of him just saying Fuck it, and writing the craziest shit he could think of. he talks about it himself, where he wasn't being taken seriously as a rapper. better to write about sick shit than to do shit sick. Big fucking difference. All I know is, anyone who has a crazy baby mommas can relate to this feeling.
“Kim” is the prequel to this song, it opens with the same sounds that “Kim” ends with and is about hiding Kim’s death which happened in that song. Also, the album cover is depicting this song.
He's a rappers rapper now, most who aint in the art would say hes weak now but ask any MC who takes the craft seriously, he has patterns, double entendres, and metaphores that only a real lyricist would get. Thats whats great about dude
Fun Fact: In order to record Hailie's part for the song "'97 Bonnie & Clyde," he lied to Kim and said they were going to Chuck E. Cheese

If you have a husband who can sing or rap and says they are going to chuck. E. Cheese. DO NOT BELIEVE THEM!!!
Ok good to know
i really enjoy vent songs like this. it's a nice look into the mind of artists and how they're faring. they're human too
The way he raps he makes it sound so easy lyrical beast 🔥🔥
One of a very few songs which still has power to bring a tear to my eye.... maybe it's just the nostalgia.... Damn I forgot how good Em was in his prime
Now he's a woke cuckold weirdo lmao
This song literally gave me chills listening to it back to it in the 1990s. the guy that sign Em heard this song and it gave him the same feeling. still listening to this in 2017. not one rapper in 2017 can tell a story like this
I know this comment be 6 years old now but you ain't heard sarah by Tyler, the creator. It ain't even on Spotify it that bad
@Baconmaka
I'm a huge Tyler fan, that song feels a lil incomplete to me, but still good ASF.
Just realised this rhymes lolll I guess that’s what happens when you go on an Em marathon
Crazy how amazing this song is after all these years. Wow. The way how the beat rides out at the end. Dre killed that. Em is a fucking genius
As a teen in the 90's i thought this song was hilarious. As a parent in 2015 I feel a little uncomfortable listening to it.
+Gamer Geek Risto That's how it should be
em is a true artist
Young Tree Agreed
+Young Tree Even though I'm not his biggest fan - I do respect M as a fine Artist. No debate there.
+Gamer Geek Risto bitch be soft
HAPPY BIRTHDAY EMINEM YOU ARE 45 TODAY AND
YOU STILL NEVER KILLED ANYONE. I LOVE YOU SO MUCH. YOU ARE AMAZING GOAT
It's actually a really heartfelt song the last minute is kinda heartbreaking when you have a willing father being forced away from their child.
This part two of "Kim" by Eminem
how is Eminem going to explain this to Hailie? o-o
KylaGamer well what he said in this song
KylaGamer He probably didn't have to. He probably gave her the list of songs to listen to about their relationship 😂!
I already have long ago...
well if you knew anything about em he doesn't curse or let her listen to any of his songs but she prob heard most of them now since she is what 21-22 years old now
Kylalala rightttttttttttt
Such an underrated story teller. Fucking dark poetry! always loved Em, he's a genius, Marshall Mathers LP was my first rap album, I was 8 years old.
The beat is also one of the darkest beats produced
Bass brothers did a great job
such a dark song but the beat is almost dreamy so calm.
*I love the way he talks (raps, whatever) with his children in a song* ❤️
*btw 2018 anyone ? Cuz I don't think people appreciate the old gold they like "Gucci Gang"* 😶😒
Sumukh some people still appreciate it 💪🏼
@@mariaeltahan2431 what abt 2020
em was crazy AF when he was young
markesha profit slim shady*
It’s fun to see new Em fans coming here and react like WTF Em? While i’m sitting here wym wtf? This shit is why i fell in love with him 20 years ago 💯🐐
When I was growing up my big brother would play Eminem so much that he was my favorite and I would sit on my brothers lap and drive from to the movies to watch blade and he died last year n now I can’t stop crying listening to this album
Its funny how slim told the mom that he was talking his daughter to chuck e cheese but it was was the studio.
@Dick Swett you must be fun
Her name is Kim
Horrorcore is my favourite hip hop genre...
yo this is not horrorcore
colton pearson it kind of is. Sort of. Not explicitly but if you read between the lines.
Lynched Killer kind of just because he is talking about killing Kim does not mean nothing he has other songs about killing Kim yes the lyrics are dark but there is some more artists are my dark and morbid and that is what horror core is about
colton pearson yeah there are darker artists but not all horrorcore has to be explicit. This is more subtle I think
not this. But "Kim" is.
Eminems music used to be so dark. But it was beautiful.
Imagine how awkward hallie feels now she’s grown up 😂😭😭
this is my dad's and my song together 😂 we both can rap the whole lyrics 😂👌👊
+Rosie T'Raw savage
fuck ur happy family
I spell my name the same way. :) Except my name is french and everyone say it like u would amy. Is urs french?
+Amie Ayers Nice dad that you have pretty girl, take care of each other
peace
+Free At Last "Get an IQ", oh my god
this song is so beautiful
really it is, its really beautiful
eminem may not be the best husband, son, or person in general but hes a great father who really really really loves his fucking daughter and he knows how to treat her right and take care of her
perfect song to dedicate to someone
+vivian james * Eminem * yea i'm just gonna take my daughter to make a song talking about us 2 killing her mom... great parenting. 😕
thats not the point but GG on your massive failed attempt kiddo
Ultimate love song….. thank you em for paving the way for the rest of us broken families
this is like a cursed lullaby
When Em wrote this song (well, it's a very long song, 3 parts) it was the very beginning of him just saying Fuck it, and writing the craziest shit he could think of. he talks about it himself, where he wasn't being taken seriously as a rapper.
better to write about sick shit than to do shit sick. Big fucking difference. All I know is, anyone who has a crazy baby mommas can relate to this feeling.
yesssssssss
Eminem true Hip Hop Legend
Cristiano Dean fact
Thank you for taking your time to make this song I love it
“Kim” is the prequel to this song, it opens with the same sounds that “Kim” ends with and is about hiding Kim’s death which happened in that song.
Also, the album cover is depicting this song.
No shit.
I'd love to watch a Music Video of it.
YES
hmm. gave me an idea
SteVe13 yes
That ship done sailed Man
You dont need to, the lyrics do that for you
I wish Eminem was still this gnarly
He's in his freakin 40's he's mellowed down
He's a rappers rapper now, most who aint in the art would say hes weak now but ask any MC who takes the craft seriously, he has patterns, double entendres, and metaphores that only a real lyricist would get. Thats whats great about dude
U should be wishing that Eminem would get back on these funky beats again
no
I find this song VERY relaxing.
The slim shady LP 20th anniversary , congrats EM 💯
asvpxedy if it wasn’t for Dr. Dre, where would Eminem would end up?
@@courtgizzle Still better off than you hatin ass nigga
