The most confusing part "the sky was so blue that it wasnt blue any longer"
The story is the narrator is in isolation in a mental asylum and has been for a long time. And all he can see is his room with bare walls and one window with a patch of blue sky in it and a kite flying past everyday. He's seen the same scene for so long that he's now questioning if it' real or not or if he's hallucinating.
They're supposed to be insane-what do you expect??
