Kentuckian - born and raised here! I live in Danville which is about 40-45 minutes from Lexington, but I can 110% confirm that the drivers here are the absolute worst. I never once thought anything about it until I became a mom, and now driving with my three year old in the car and really noticing other drivers, they are in no way trying to hide the fact that they’re texting and driving. We have both seatbelt enforcing laws AND laws that are supposed to prohibit the use of phones while driving but no one gives a flying fuck about them. It’s insane! Also, there’s a 99.2% chance your driver WAS a functioning drunk....welcome to the great state of Kentucky!

I tried SO hard making it to UK Campus to see you guys, and just couldn't make it down there. I was only a couple hours away, I actually attend Morehead State University.. But long story short, my car broke down, I had no cell phone. It was not my day, I'm glad you guys enjoyed the campus. I wanted to make to so bad, I was heart broken lol. UK is a great campus. 💙
I had always begged you guys to come to Kentucky, and I was hoping you guys loved it. It breaks my heart you didn't experience the best of it. You also have to understand this is the Appalachia, and Eastern KY especially is some of the poorest and hardest places to live in the US. The drug epidemic, poverty, etc.. Car trouble and a headlight out is the least of some people's worries here. It's not easy to live here, guys. I've drove my vehicle for over a year now without a belt tension lol, if that says anything. You guys are fortunate to live in an area with many opportunities. For example, minimum wage is here $7.25 AN HOUR, it's hard to live in this area.
HELLLLLL YEAHHHH lol. I'm still crying because I missed you guys! 😭😭 Next time you have a chance you need to check out the scenery and what not around here. It really is beautiful.
