- Documentary on Pandit Bhimsen Joshi from Jamia Millia Islamia Center, created by James Beveridge Associates Ltd Canada in 1971. Panditji was 49 years of age and has presented a bandish in Miya ki Malhar.
The film comprises 3 sections as
1.Chota khayal - fast paced - 00:00 to 2:17
2.Bada khayal - slow paced - 2:17 to 21:00
3.Chota khayal - fast paced - 21:00 till the end.
People that want to watch quickly should watch sections 1 and 3. We can hardly find any videos of Panditji performing live before 1980s. This documentary captures the gestures that he exhibited during his prime times.

I’m awestruck! Every note is so perfect! And it’s not like a studio recording... it’s just him singing on a simple mic in front of a bunch of audience!
This can’t be replicated even with all the high-tech music production softwares. We’re so lucky that his work survives today so we can listen to it and cherish it forever!

This is such stupendous performance by the great Panditji... True Bharat Ratna. It is an ode to the Mughal emperor Mohammed Shah Rangeele' who who ruled the North around the first quarter of the 18th century. He was great music lover and patron of arts and gharana flourished during his reign.
When he sings, I would think even gods would stop and listen to the master and express awe.

My father was a big fan of Pandit Bhimsen Joshi and thanks to him, I learnt to appreciate such artistic renditions. He puts his whole heart and soul into his performance, unmindful of all else.
No comparison in the world. Surprising spiritual chanting song. Hearing this blood gets purity and encourages himself in order to meet the supreme power. Nobody can tell this delightful bliss living in this world . It makes us feel of the 2 world staying in the soul. ॐ

This is more a documentary on Miyan ka Malhar, than on Pandit Bhimsen Joshi. I wish that the film maker had included a little more about Panditji’s life, especially about his learning phase. Anyway the rendition was good.

It was not a concert but a special recording done by James Beveridge Assoc. If you are asking for unedited footage, it could be with the original producers / directors in Canada.
