Im a couple of years late but wanted to let you know this is a terrific video for amateurs - you are a good teacher. Many thanks for showing us how!!
Refreshing to see a no nonsense approach to shop furniture. Simple, functional, and inexpensive! Much more applicable to the normal DIYer than a lot of builds I've seen on YT...thanks!
Glad you liked it!
Lol yes. Refreshing that this wasn't made with black walnut and epoxy. 🙂
ofta 2mins into the vid... im subscribing ! this is awsome music man..
Looking at the little ones eager to help dad put a smile on my face!
They are always eager to do something in the shop... and getting of age to help with projects too! :)
Sam - will you be building more cabinets for the new shop ? I would love to see another video of a shop cabinets build ! I have watched several different ones but, they are to complicated for me to do myself. I really like the way you toned it down to my level. Thank you & good luck w/ the new laser biz !
I appreciate you being “real”. Keep up the great videos.
Thank you! Will do!
I really liked the simplicity of the project! I'm always looking for inexpensive projects and builds that are simple enough for a beginner like me. With today's costs, even the inexpensive ends up being pricey by the time a project is completed. I'm like you in that I like to use materials I already have when possible.
It’s so cool to see your boys involved such a awesome dad
New subscriber. You had me at Hodge podge! 😂 If I see one more cnc on an easy diy video I'll scream.
GREAT VIDEO, THANKS FOR SHARING!
You look very happy to be back in the work shop!
You know that cabinet space is like hard disc space, it fills up before you know it😁. 🦀
I totally am! :) And you're exactly right... cabinet's already full. Time for more! :)
Great montage music!!
I like it a loooot!!! As oldman just learning this stuff it's right up my alley. Thanks for sharing!
Watching your boys out there with their Dad and helping out was AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!! Besides anything else going on in your shop that was by far my favorite part!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wow, I'm impressed Sam. Throw a coat of poly on them! 💙
Great to see you getting the kids involved! That’s something kids these days don’t get!
Exactly what I was looking for my basement shop storage build... simple shop cabinets using reasonable materials (lower cost). Great job! Slap some paint on them after a quick sand and they will work perfectly.
I have the same approach. Easy, simple 👌 works for me too. Not trying to please anyone else but me . Don't like how I did something, don't look .👍
Welcome back! What a great project ,I really liked the finished product and I think using the whiteboard was a good idea. They look very professional
Thanks so much!
Great stuff! I’m going to build cabinets for my garage. Lots of cabinets! I like how utilitarian and simplistic to build these are while being down to function first, beauty last. Perfect for a garage especially with the cost of plywood today.
Came out looking great overall! The door material on the back can be a great area for notes or ideas.
You had 2 small helpers that were actually helping?? That’s some fine parenting going on at your house. Well done!!!
Thats all i needed to see! Simple but amazing job!👍👍👍
Gotta love that industrial sound.
Hey Sam, I like your vid nice work, you did what you wanted to do. Thumbs up to you, at least you don't talk down to your audience. You don't have to apologize for making cabinets the way you want to do them. It is more respectable and appealing when you do and creates with what you have on hand, who cares what anybody else thinks.
You must be a great dad,I could never get my kids to work that fast.lol
Great job getting the kiddos involved man.
I love your cabinets, and the step by step way that you demonstrated, and explained.
as soon as I heard the DOOM like music... instant thumbs up
Love the way you involved the kids
Watching you work is almost as good as doing the work myself!
Try spring clamps for quick clamping of thinner material stacks, they're cheap cheap cheap, versatile & remarkably fast. U coulda clamped the 2nd carcass to the 1st (2 or 3 spring clamps), your spacer block to carcass, etc. It'll change ur clamping lifestyle vs always reaching for F clamps.
A couple of things I use to hang cabinets: a cheap cargo bar from Harbor freight with screw adjustment when there uppers go in before the lowers. Reverse the jaws on a quick clamp and they expand and free up a hand
Oh, that would have been great to have! :)
I really enjoyed the cabinet project. And thought your so. Was the cutest addition. Thanks for offering the idea of using the piano bench hinges. I didn’t know cutting them was so easy. Hay. . .many thanks. I have a counter project which will incorporate upper cabinets for tool storage. Your videos helped me solidify my design ideas. Many thanks again.
You're very welcome, glad it helped!!
Great job!
Another awesome project, well done !!!!!
Nice job Sam!! It's amazing what you can do with scrap lumber!!
Much appreciated, I was pleased and surprised that it turned out so well. :)
Bigger is better so don't worry, well done with the project. Liked it heeps, will make mine similar in my "Car Port". I've got NO SHED. So I made an extension shed at the back of my carport, being W12'x D4', yeah, I'm in Australia but still work in feet and inches when it suits me, then other times it's so much quicker and simpler in Meters x Millimeters, it's more exact with out saying a LONNNG measurement like 12' 1/3"'s long, silly measurements. Anyways, whatever works in your shop you use it, YOUR way. Now I've got the back shed made, it's got a side door and front, but the front door has a 900mm small door plus a larger door of 2.7m making up the rest of the measurement of the width of my carport. Next I'll be putting a wall between me and next door neighbor, then I can put this wall cabinet up and a Tool cabinet being 2400x1200mm sitting on top of my bench, with a further cabinet with 2 doors to hold my tools that don't have boxes for them inside here. So, with your setup, it's going to be great once finished. BLOODY RIPPA MATE. Take care buddy and thanks heaps for your input.
Thanks Sam. My husband Andy I are building shelves in the basement and are trying to avoid the mortising the butt hinges. The piano hinge looked like a great idea but we'll have to do a lot of adjustments because we've used 2x4's as a frame and they are not flush. The vertical supports are further out than the horizontal ones. It was the simplest method to make them. White boards look a lot nicer than plywood and probably lighter. ✔️👍
I love your attitude! Too many vids out there on beautiful workshops far to nice to do work in!
Good job,I learned something today for the piano hinges how to cut them.
Well done! Looks great.
I think it looks great 👍!!!!!
Nice job. As always !!!!
Great job Sam!!!
Cabinets look awesome. # 1 helper says ooh as his shoulders tense dad says just kidding he relaxes says ok nice big smile. too cute
Fancy music at the end for some real fancy storage...make sure you film restocking it...I’ll watch it 🥰 great work team...yes loved the boys helping ...real family time! 🙋🏻♀️🇬🇧💕
Thanks man. I was looking for something simple like this. I plan on doing this for floor cabinets but with similar design.
Glad I could help
Those turned out rather nice, I like them.
Nice to see you back and a great project!
Thanks! I miss my shop-time. Hope there will be more in the near future!
Those helpers were really helpful 😁
Looks good Sam, I learn so much watching your projects, thank you
My pleasure!
They look very nice good job
Thank you!
Looks good I like idea of white board for panel doors
Thats the kind of cabinets I need to build! Nice job!

Good use of resources at hand to make a great improvement.
Thanks Jim! Hope you're getting settled in your GIANT SHOP too! :)
Looks like a good set up! 👍🏼
Looks Great Sam!
Looks really nice

You are so creative.
Good job
Dude.that just look pretty ,nice work
Excellent job and low cost, which is my main objective!
You and me both!
Hell Yeah I like your style!
I appreciate that!
Super clean man, very inspiring!
Looking good
Thanks 👍
Enjoyed your video! Very helpful
Another great video!
So good !
Maybe some additional support under the shelves across the back to help prevent sagging. Looks great and they should work well for you. Your doors looked better than mine in my kitchen. I just used plywood and routed the edges.
Nice job, Sam.
Nice!
Well done...
Great cupboards.
Thank you!
Can't follow the SPEED of the video, thanks for the effort.
Jig!!! Sweet
Awesome job Sam and boys! Looks great!! I would love to do something like that in my garage, but it's cement block walls. I can't tackle something like that. Getting up in age lol!! TFS :)
Strong work!! I enjoyed that you involved your Sons in this project. You're creating memories. Keep going!! I liked and subscribed😃
Very nice work
This was great! I am a 65 year old female and just learning some very basic skills. I need to put doors on the cabinets in my partially built out CamperVan. I believe I picked up some tips from you that will help me.
Question: Is it necessary to make a frame around the cabinet opening?Thank you!
I like it. Simplicity. I have the same issue. Has the glue held up
Awesome, subbed.
Why do you need a back board? My house come with a garage cabinet without back board and looks well.
I like your style, plus the fact that you have a R4512 I pimped mine with an Incra TS LS Joinery System. I noticed something I bet very picked up on! How you held the brad nail gun perpendicular to the part you were driving the brad into! This does help in keeping blowouts from happening (brads exiting the side of the work)
The piano hinge trick is pretty neat! For door clasp In the future I suggest neodymium magnets! Order on line they are much cheaper and the 54 series are stronger magnets. The cabinets look nice!
😀🛫
That's a good idea for magnetic clasps, I like it! Thanks for the info. :) Also I'm drooling over the Incra on your R4512. ;) Thanks!
R4512 does dress up the Incra TS LS Joinery System. 🤣🛫
Great work. I am planning something similair 👍👍 subscribed!
Awesome! Thank you!
Well done, Sam. I'd give you two thumbs up, if I could.
LIKED & SUBSCRIBED . LOVED THE TAPE / SUPERGLUE TRICK .THAT WOULD HAVE HELPED WHEN I WAS WORKING . NOT YELLIN GOING BLIND CAPS ALLOWS ME TO DEFINE THE LETTERS LIKE ON A KEYBOUAD / EYE CHART .
Thanks for the sub!
Nice job. BTW, nice 1930s Sears Companion tilt top saw.
Thanks 👍 I bought it from a local thrift store for $20 for some reason LOL No clue what I'm going to do with it!!!
@@Samcraftcom Nice! I have a slightly newer 1940s Sears Dunlap I use for dados and secondary operations. Mainly when I don’t want to move the settings on the main saw.
Good cupboards to keep your little shop helpers in when they are not needed! 😂👏🏻👍🏻🇬🇧
So true! Hahaha
What a great project. BTY, you can use the inside chalk board to write what's in the cabinet, and maybe a place to put a honey-do list. Keep the chalk close :>)
Great idea!
@@Samcraftcom I was hoping (while watching) that you were going to make wooden hinges for the cabinet :>) I do like the tip on how to cut piano hinges though. BTW, your helper looked like a good worker. Mine are all grown up now and if I want them to help, I have to bribe them to help :>)
Ĺove it
I need to put doors on some garage storage myself and I like what you did with the doors! Are you concerned with the doors warping since they are plywood? I have been advised to stay away from plywood because of warping but keep seeing it in many shop build videos. Thanks!
These doors aren't perfect by any means, and I've been meaning to do an update video on them. However, they're still fine for what I use them for -- hiding junk! :) The corners need reinforced to make them stronger and less flimsy, otherwise I'm happy with them for their cost and process.
Maybe use the blackboard to designate what's in each section.
Outstanding! What was that gadget you used to drill the hinges with?
You mentioned glue and staples for the panels on the doors, but I didn't see any glue applied. Was there glue used? Nice project.
Love it Sam! Want some free hardware? I stop any time I see someone tossing out furniture, and toss it in the back of the truck. I take it home, remove all the pulls, hinges, closers, slides, glides, screws etc and toss them into a clear Ziploc bag. If the piece is real wood I'll break it down, if not, it gets dropped at the dump on my next visit. You would be amazed how fast the hardware adds up! So if you want some pulls let me know. The cabinets sitting off of the left wall is screaming for some stacked shelves to fill the gap now....
Hey Tim, you have my ear! 😎 Send me an email!
Have you built tall storage cabinets
