    Ottimo il presentare il grande lavoro che sottende a quella mirabile impressione di leggerezza che poi apprezziamo nei balletti. BIGHIN GIULIO RENZO 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊

    Amazing for a school project. Really, the only give-away is the voice and a few mispronunciations. Great archival stills and footage and comments on Balanchine style.

    Hey, girl! Your video was one of the only "Balanchine 101" that I could find on CZcams, great job, specially when considering that it was a mere school presentation. Don't consider all those mean comments, you did great!

    also on Balanchine, the technique is very angular, has fast footwork, winds in a bit of modern and jazz movements and close intrequet footwork really moving the feet about, this is also a bit in the vein of Roland Pettite and his style of movement.

    Nice pic of him with Gelsey ...before she had facial surgery. She was beautiful. Too bad she didn't think she looked enough like Farrell. We didn't need 2 Suzannes.

    I'm not a part of the dance world, so I don't bow down before any of its gods, nor do I nurture any sacred cows. I admire the dancers as people because of their dedication to their discipline & their passion. They're called on not just to be artists, but athletes. And as far as Georgie here goes, I suppose he was some great genius and icon who changed the face of dance and all that. Whoopie fucking doo. But he also killed ballerinas with his arcane, egotistical demand on the body shape he required of them. Demands that everybody kowtowed to because they were intimidated by HIM. What horseshit. I've got my own theory, however philistine it may be, on a guy who terrorizes women to be wraithlike, thin, and flat-chested. I think Georgie boy was a closet misogynist and pedophile trying to get mature, full-bodied, healthy females to look like little boys. The ballet world produces some amazing weirdos, and he should never have been granted that much power. What he perpetrated should be a lesson to not maintain such a closed, incestuous little system with no reality checks.

      If you're not part of the dance world, then you don't know what you're talking about so maybe you should just shut up.

      On the contrary, it gives me an objectivity that maybe is harder to come by from someone caught up in the culture. Nothing quite works like being able to think outside the box. BTW, I can only conclude that your irritation at me stems from some smashing of a sacred icon. If you think what Balanchine did to those young dancers is ok, it might be time to take a step or two back yourself. The lofty esoteric preciousness of the ballet world needs to get real and hear a reality check on itself.

      would like to add on that his "training style" is actually horrendously incorrect and ruins dancers legs lol, the russians had it right but george didn't fully get how they performed so well so he invented nutty bad ideas like putting all the weight in the ball of the foot etc to try to compensate, hence why balanchine dancers are bulky, less long and graceful (which is why they felt the need to starve!!) and get injured often. voila.

    • @minissa2009
      @minissa2009 Před 2 lety +1

      You know a lot about ballet for not being part of the dance world! This is actually not a bad read on Balanchine, although the characterization as a pedophile is mean and unfair. The man was a genius and dancers did sacrifice to work with him. He did think "ballet is woman," so call that misogynistic if you like, but as men capable of more virtuosity joined, he gave them great variations to dance. He was also color-blind when it came to talent and hired both Native and African American dancers when this was unheard of for a classical art form.

    • @DivineSimply
      @DivineSimply Před 2 lety +1

      @@minissa2009 I wrote that 3 years ago and have not changed my thinking. The man put personal, biased, subjective aesthetic ideals over the health and well-being of young girls. And for many of those poor kids, that translated into malnutrition, illness, breakdowns, and even death. As an outsider, I see people serving art instead of the other way around, with art instead serving people. Balanchine wasn't a god and Art isn't a religion, it's just a discipline, a means of expressing something about life and people. Human beings come first. As far as being mean and unfair in speculating that his intimidations were fueled by closet pedophilia, perhaps, but perhaps not. It's the outsider's objectivity that allows them to be devoid of bias. We see that he shamed and intimidated healthy young women with normal body shapes into thinking there was something wrong, that they'd never make it in the ballet world, unless they conformed to his subjective body ideal of flat chests and hips which more than anything else indisputably resemble the physiques of young boys. And still objectively speaking in terms of what could be his possible closet pedophilia - if it looks like a duck, quacks like a duck, walks like a duck . . . it's probably a duck. I'm thinking how horrorstruck our Monsieur Balanchine would be at the body shape of Misty Copeland. HA!! You go, Misty!!
