Imaging a third party company took the concept of doom island godzilla figures but ads way more possibility, extra detail and more accessories. I would honestly buy it cause these figures have potential. They definitely deserve a chance
7:52 I think Destoroyah's chest opening is likely a reference to a scrapped power he was originally going to have in one of the deleted scenes of Godzilla vs Destoroyah where his chest would spilt open and he blasts a beam out of it. Since there's concept art of him using this power. There's a likely implication that TrendMasters was heavily informed about it and the sketch was given to them by Toho while the film was probably still in production at the time.
Very possible. But it's also possible that it's a coincidence, according to the trendmasters prototype group on Facebook, all the mega mutation toys were planned to have chest openings.

I had arachnophobia BAD as a kid, especially with large, exaggerated fake ones. Fondling around in a K.B. Toys discount bin, only to accidentally grab one of those would have sent be running out of the store.

Wow. I’m just realizing my VERY first Godzilla toy was from Doom Island. Has the exact same pose as one of the Godzillas towards the end.
Found it on a vacation in PA a long time ago. And I actually got it for a few bucks. Not bad for a kid, considering these are sought after. That one toy is what actually got me into Godzilla, I just saw it and thought “cool dinosaur”. Dad saw what I bought and told me as soon as we got home, he would show me some old Godzilla movies. And that day, my love for the franchise was born.
Thanks for helping me solve a decade old mystery, MiB. I knew he was from Trendmasters for awhile now...but I never knew exactly which line he was from.
The T-rex from that canceled Doom Island series, looks like Sharptooth from the Land Before Time.

Great video MIB! As someone who grew up with trendmasters Godzilla (particularly the Godzilla wars line) I would have loved the doom island line as a child, especially with Destoroyah. Damn shame these have never been released and is now like a holy grail for Godzilla collectors. Looking forward to your next video on the especially rare Godzilla the series toy line!!!
I must say, it's quite fascinating how the community has managed to uncover more chapters in Trendmasters's story

For an April fools release SHMA should make a Minilla. It would be hilarious.
They had a 1994 Little Godzilla; I don't think Minilla is very far fetched honestly

I love the action feature on the Mega Mutation Destoroyah. It's apparently based on an unused ability he would have had in the movie, and why his belly looks the way it does.

Very awesome dive into these cool figures history man! I love that 4inch Goji with the huge tail too, really menacing looking! I had almost all the figures from the original run, 10inch etc. I really wish I took better care of my stuff as a child lol. I still managed to hold on to some of them despite a few being in bad condition.

I had that 10in. SpaceGodzilla as a kid, it was one of my favorite toys. Really loved the colors on it and its roar. I really wish I still had it and would love to get another one, one day.
I like the Trendmaster figures, just the Biolantte always looks strange with legs.
I still have Mecha Godzilla, Godzilla and Mecha King Ghidorah double packs complete with T. rex raptors stegosaurus and pterodactyl. Opened but still pretty mint from a Christmas way back in the 90’s.

I just had an idea for what this toy line may have been. A sort of “Heisei era what if”
Plot: Recently, monster Island was blown up by scientists and is now a firey wasteland. Several new, super dangerous monsters, including Destroyah and his army of resurrected dinosaurs, were created by the blast. The military has found a way to communicate to our heroes, and have supplied them with an arsenal of weapons to fight with. Can Godzilla and his allies save monster island from Destroyah’s rampage of terror. Collect all the toys to find out.

online i saw that there's someone who is making custom Trendmasters kamakurusis and they have great articulation and pretty spot-on paint and there rare to come by so if you are able to get one i recommend it.
I saw some of these at a Big Lots in Marion Indiana, as a kid.
That Mega Mutation Godzilla reminds me of the Hasbro Inhumanoids Decompose figure with that exposed rib cage.
I would give an unreasonable amount of money if a company like NECA or SHFiguarts remade this toy line the way they did with Kenner's old Aliens and Predator lines.

Also, there was supposed to be Godzilla The Animated Series Toyline that was planned in late 1998 or early 1999 by Trendmasters, but that Toyline was never produced.
The packaging for the doom island toys look like the new hollow earth monsters packaging
Holy shit as soon as you mentioned the double packs with the dinosaurs, I remember picking up the Mecha King Ghidorah at a car-boot sale when I was a kid! I pointed it out excited and my grandparents paid for it for me, it was like, a maximum of £5 but I don't even think it was that much! Boxed and everything!
My favorite thing about this is that I can't help but think if these all got released it would have been easier to think of Godzilla monsters that weren't included, and the only ones I can think of are Ebirah, Gabara, King Ceasar, and Titianosaurus,
