  • Parking brake not holding as it used to? Cables stretch and here is how to adjust it in under 2 min with a 10mm deep socket or wrench. Lift plastic, tighten bolt, lower plastic, done.

    Helpful video, thank you 👍 just to note: it needs 10mm Deep Socket ( not the regular one, as it won't fit over the thread). Thanks again....

    perfect video, nice and short, no endless rambling or details, gave me the info i needed to fix my parking brake in no time and saved myself an hour drive to the car dealership for repair, thank you!

    Also worked for my 2014 1/2 Mazda 6. Thanks! Mine was so loose that hitting a pothole would cause it to turn off the cruise control - and I always forgot to mention it when I took it in for the free oil change.

    If you lack a deep well socket, a ratcheting wrench works great.

    Nice video, I can access the nut, but how tight should I go for? 3 click? 5 click? 7 click?

    Is this the same process after you've replaced rear pads?

    • @s.b.1713
      @s.b.1713 Před 3 lety +1

      NO only IF the cables are stretched which is not as common. After replacing pads you have to re-adjust the "arm" that is bolted to the rear calipers, it's not difficult but search on YT and it should show up

    Thank you! I brought my Mazda to a tire shop and they messed up my parking brake by pulling it completely up at a 90 degree angle which I couldn’t even do

    Shouod be adjust at rear or cable may stretch ...small adjustments maybe

    • @wecarespares
      @wecarespares Před 3 lety +2

      This car is not adjustable at rear, it's using rear brake pads as parking brake not shoe and drum

      @@wecarespares hi yeah I've now 9rdered new discs and pads for rear I think my issue 8s they're low etc and discs too are a bit worn hence the vibes when hard braking thanks buddy

    • @wecarespares
      @wecarespares Před 3 lety

      If you feel the vibration from the foot padel while braking, normally it means your rear brake disc are warped, if the steering wobbles it means the front disc are warped

      @@wecarespares doing front soon back is done cheers yrah I could see no true adjustment at rear Oddington as some cars have a bolt or similar you can adjust at the rear I defo had a better feel after replacing them

    Looking to remove the cover of the handbrake, any idea how to do that?

    • @MakerMaxCorbett
      @MakerMaxCorbett  Před 4 lety

      You mean farther then I took it off? I would think you keep working around pulling up on the friction tabs and then it should slip off the handle. The leather sheath might be tricky. Sorry, I never took it all the way off.
