It still surprises me video's can feel so different. After watching Bald's earlier and Yours now, it almost feels like your not in the same place for the majority of the trip. Its not just this one, other collaborations in the past all over the world with different creators often gives the total opposite view and feel.
It just proves the point, no matter where you are and what is happening around you, the person next to you is not having the same experience as you despite what you imagine.

Yeah, Simons is more real and shows the realties better. Bald's seemed edited a lot to cut out criticism of the Syrian government and spent most of it whining about 'western media' like usual. It was great to see Simon managed to show the different sides and views like how the people in Lebanon at the hotel quite clearly did not like the Syrian govt with talking about how 'too many' people go there.

That was fun. In 2009, I was touring around Europe with my family in a car. We went to Turkey, and then decided to keep going through Syria. The border was a little difficult, took us 2 days to pass through, but the people at the border were very friendly, they all wanted to drink tea with us. Once in Syria, it was very much the same, we were a little cautious (healthily so perhaps), but again, the people there welcomed us.

I meant that Damascus has more cultural, historical, religious sites than fun places.
For fun an American can go to Los Angeles but for visiting the church where Saint Paul was baptized, the shrine that has Saint John's head, the remains of Jupiter temple and the Umayyad Mosque this American needs to visit Damascus. And as a bonus the same American will visit one of the oldest cities on earth, enjoys very delicious food, enjoys very beautiful hotels with an Arabic style and enjoys the low prices of goods and services.
And when you are in Damascus-Syria you can visit almost 3000 historical sites. Syria was the cradle of our civilization.
      Have you heard this saying:
“Every person has two homelands, his own and Syria.”
It was said by Andre parrot
      Former Director of Louvers Museum
. A French archaeologist specializing in the ancient Near East. He led excavations in Lebanon, Iraq and Syria, and is best known for his work at Mari, Syria, where he led important excavations from 1933 to 1975.

First, the political regime of Syria needs badly to restore tourism to its level that was before the crisis and therefore it will protect tourists very well.
Second, few thousands tourists who visit Syria a year will not help the political regime of Syria but they will help the people of Syria. They will make them have some hope. Tourists will also inject little amounts of extra cash in the markets creating few hundred jobs for some needy Syrian people.
I am sure that tourism is Syria will never get back to its magnitude that was before the crisis until a serious political change is made in Syria.

You are learning what many of us Americans who have lived in Syria for many years already know: the generosity, patience, and magnanimity of the Syrian people and other Arabs of the region is incomparable. Your reporting is years too late, as this isn't just another worn torn country to be dissected. The Syrian people have suffered and have been enormously traumatized over the last 15 years due to the United States' abusive hegemony and twisted foreign policy in the region. Syria is not just another playground for curious westerners like a trip to Disney World: it's a country rich in history, culture, architecture, music that deserves deep respect and intention.

Lots of UK cities are also full of trees as well, no. I used to live in Edinburgh for a few years it’s less green but still can be quite green. Anyway, yeah - city trees are awesome!

I had the pleasure of visiting Syria in 2008 with my family and friends. Coming from New Zealand it was a dramatic difference, but I will never forget how beautiful the cities of Damascus and Aleppo were. I count myself incredibly lucky to have seen the beauty of this country and other surrounding nations in the middle east. Most people react with Why would you go there... I tell them about my experience and show photos.. They are amazed they I had that opportunity. The middle east is such a beautiful part of the world. Lebanon, Jordan, Israel, Syria... such beauty and yet the worlds media will portray the dark side and turn people away from ever wanting to visit.

Cafes, restaurants, mountain areas and the sea. Everything is beautiful in Latakia. The city of Latakia is one story and its countryside is another story. Also, its residents are more open.
