The automatic subtitles for John Kramer read "giant creamer" and I'm not complaining.
I'm creaming.
Don't look.
@@viscountrainbows6452 too late-Harvey Weinstein
Lol
I was instantly thrown off with Spiral as soon as I heard a foul mouth version of Marty from Madagascar running his mouth nonstop.
Chris Rock looks like he's trying to be Morgan Freeman in Seven.
More like Chris Tucker from Rush Hour.
@@nerychristian lol yeah that too
😂😂😂
Osmosis Jones: From the book of Saw
They might as well have casted Jackie Chan to play his partner. At least it would have been funnier.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Omg Jackie as the jigsaw killer would of been hilarious
Spiral: From the Book of Saw It Already
Instant regret for not thinking of that while making the video.
Nice😁
Hahahahaha, brilliant
Next year... "The Sawshank Redemption". Then... "Saw: Blade Trinity".
Clever
So I think by "Book of SAW," my theory is that this was suppose to be the first movie in a series of anthology movies.
in my theory it is a creative bankrupt way to make a film sound more important than it is. but more clearly, if you have a tight story and great themes in your work titles will be easy. some of the best films ever know exactly how to reach the audience. Parasite, Fight Club, Die Hard, The Raid, Out of Sight...etc. these are all films with high vision thus its never hard to name the damn movie. these ducks had poor ideas and didnt realize it and it showed in their writing of the script(lyrics) and the movie title (album title etc)
@@lowlowseeseeFight club as one of the best movies of all time 💀💀💀
*These anthology movies always fail. Halloween 3 comes to mind*
Saw X... that just have to be in SPACE!
I would absolutely watch Cordery's Southpark cop impression for well over 2 hours.
Thanks for confirming that I correctly guessed the twist months ago. Based on the casting alone, I SAW it coming from miles away. Wocka Wocka!
10:40 honestly disappointed there wasn't a word play about "spiraling down" there 😂
My favorite thing was how after each time one of the victim's body parts was sent to Chris Rock, we saw a flashback of the trap and how said person died.
Then when Chris Rock is sent his partner's skin, there's no flashback whatsoever.
Like gee, I wonder if he's still alive?
You could say the SAW franchise has SPIRALed out of control. (has been for quite some time now)
for that you get the first kill in this film with the train lol
The twist was so obvious, never been so happy to see the credits
I think I already had the red flags when Chris Rock was attached to a Saw movie.
I love Chris Rock but yeah
I can't see a psychological horror thriller tied to his name without seeing Chris. Fucking. Rock. Basically Manhunt starring Jordan Peele.
He was pretty great in fargo. He got range
I think one of those red flags is in a Chris Rock interview, where he said he wanted to add humour to the movie. SAW doesn't need comedy. Its a Horror Mystery and he ruin it!
.... hate to be the bearer of bad news but Saw X has already been in the works for at least a year. *cue loud sobs*
Every time Chris Rock says his lines, I can’t help but think of Marty the zebra saying them.
There was a horror movie called "Spiral" that came out in 2019, so maybe they were forced to add in the "Book of Saw" bit because of trademark or copyright reasons?
I accidentally watched Spiral and was waiting for the saw things to start happening the whole time...
@@User-jn5fl I can imagine your confusion lol. I found it to be an entertaining movie(despite how on the nose it was), but it's definitely not want you want when you're looking for a Saw movie
Exactly 😅
Enjoying that Jigsaw is now a verb. Fun times and I'm all for it :)
I never got around to seeing Jigsaw, and was confused when I heard about this film, thinking it was a sequel to that. Good to hear that I wasn't missing much. Saw 7/3D is still one of the worst films I've seen from a supposed serious studio, and what little interest I had left for the franchise died then.
But I would love to see your retrospective on the series. 🙂
This and Jigsaw are still a ton better than 7, they aren't perfect at all but they're still a better watch than a couple of those original films
my cousin told me about this film and i was mighty confused an dnow that ive seen it I LOVE IT. hahahaha just kidding the shit was god awful
I thought this movie was ... good
It had so much more potential, they were very quick to cut away from the traps, Chris Rock did better than I thought & the copy cat killer was super obvious
I’d give it a 3.5/5
3.5 is not good. It is average.
I don't know what all you guys have against this one.
This was honestly my favorite comedy of 2021!
Chris Rock: I WANT TO MAKE A SAW MOVIE! AND I WANT ALLLLL THE ROYALITIES!
Twisted Pictures: *Look guys just give the crazy man what he wants*
"We'll just mark this as a BLM donation"
When the villain is revealed to be the rookie cop I rolled my eyes. I was hoping Samuel L Jackson would turn out to be the villain.
The Quite Place is the perfect vanity project. The star of the show takes a back seat to the plot.
YES YES IM SO EXCITED FOR YOUR SAW DOCUMENTARY I FEEL LIKE IVE BEEN WAITING FOR IT FOREVER SO TO HAVE YOU BRING IT UP AGAIN IM SO PUMPED
I think Chris rock and Samuel Jackson did fine I just don't like how its kind of the same plot of the last film.
It's better version cause it doesn't have that dumb plot twist
@@supervamp78 hhahaha true they did not brink back the cult of saw im glad they didn't
I literally can’t wait until the Ouiji rip off universe to come out!!!!!!!!!
Or the saw movie ripoffs
By the end of it - I thought - why did they bother with that? I was looking forward to a new take, or a new element to be introduced, but it doesn’t. It just goes over the same beats on a lower budget. It felt like a Saw netflix pilot
You know that a film studio has a terrible reputation when it's become commonplace to namedrop them as an adjective for trash movies, lol
I never thought Chris took the movie seriously here. He was trying to put his own spin in the movie but here the thing. The theme behind SAW is its a Horror Mystery movie and adding comedy into it will only sink it. The reason I love SAW was it keep me on my toes and when I thought I know where we were going I would then get a curve ball thrown at me. That would send me over the edge.
Dude I love the different voices you use! "Cop Drama" and "Omg BOIS!" and "Mr. Scott!?" Love them all. Don't ever stop using them please!
You do realize Steven seagal didn't become a bad action star in his old age that was kind of his whole stick he's been a bad action start his whole career.
No offense, but I’m glad we are out of Terminatortown. I know there are a lot of ppl who like/love those movies, but I could care less. I came for the horror and you’re bringing it back!!!
I cant hear anything from this guy's mouth except Marty the Zebra from Madagascar. Hell, those are much better movies anyway.
I really do agree that I expected a book - like, some of Jigsaw's "teachings" and plans for traps he didn't get to enact that got handed down through his followers. That would've at least made sense lol
Finally getting current notifications for your videos again!! Great vid as always, Cordery!
Comedy actors can do serious roles well:
Jim Carey- Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
Vince Vaughn- Brawl in Cell Block 99
Adam Sandler- Uncut Gems
Poor Chris Rock. Can’t cut it.
Brawl in cell block 99 was absolute dog shit
@ Luke Petersen you have bad taste
@@magicjohnson3121 I liked eternal sunshine of the spotless mind and uncut gems but brawl in cell block 99 was absolute gutter trash. Shouldn’t even exist alongside those movies.
I believe he cut it
Brawl in Cell Block 99 is a masterpiece
LOL Not balzzy enough to go to space!
Yeah, Saw - Saw 3 👍 are the best
Literally made my day ❤ . Keep up the great work
Actually the Book of Shadows subtitle in Blair Witch Project 2 was added by the studio and the studio destroyed the movie with reshoots and cuts, also the ''cliches'' like the Dogs and the girl dancing and other stuff are actually references and not just throwed in there cause it's cool or scary. So yea it's sad to see a director want to make something good and get it destroyed and the blame is on him and not in the people who did the worst parts, and this also happened with The Crow City of Angels too. Sorry if I sounded like a smart ass, just wanted to share this info with you
Australian horror daddy giving the goods as only he can. Your voice impressions of South Park were pretty good, not gonna lie.
Thanks for sparing me the headache of Spiral: The Book of Saw. Honestly, I actually laughed at the trailer for this movie.
Sparing you? Honestly, Spiral for me, is the second BEST SAW movie so far, and that is coming from a fan who watched these movies from their release.
As a relatively disengaged fan from the series (e.g. only watching 3 of the mainline series in their entirety: the original, Jigsaw, and now Spiral while watching snippets from the rest) Spiral was a mediocre film that doesn't flounder and misguide the series like 5. It isn't a ballache to watch like 3D. And it isn't dreadfully dull like Jigsaw.
Things I appreciated in the film:
- the use of color to reinforce themes, i.e. the prevalence of the (obvious) red and blue
- the on-screen chemistry of Rock and Jackson is believable and charming
- location variety is at its strongest in the series
- the themes of loneliness and frayed connections, we rarely see couples in this film together and I think the intent could've been more prevalent with the right writers
- the mirroring fates Zeke and William have at the beginning and end of the film
- highest production value being very visible on screen, well-shot and quality audio work
The things I did not appreciate:
- the very weak traps, few of them felt particularly memorable or inspired; the logical setup of these traps is suspect, Williams being able to set up these mechanical devices at his young age after being focused on infiltrating the police academy seems like a stretch; the consequences for the traps are also far too drastic and time-crunched to be done in a reasonable fashion, not as bad as literal unwinnable traps but still quite devious compared to mainline series when they aren't downright braindead simple
- the overall plot was meh, the police procedural is fine but some of the actions taken to progress the plot just don't have the impact they need
- many of the characters, even our hero, do things that are downright deplorable and are never commented on, e.g. Zeke pouring alcohol on the dealer's broken leg or Chief Banks breaking the reporter's nose (obviously it's framed as negative but Zeke never confronts his father about it, there's never an opportunity to and it adds little other fleshing him out as an unfeeling dick)
- the music choice is totally unbenefiting of the otherwise fair adaptation of the original Saws style, it feels dated and doesn't elevate the original nor produce a suitable way forward for the series
- the villian escape is utterly pathetic, all it took was Zeke tearing down the wire on the door to prevent his dad from being killed "suicide by cop" style
- there could've been more first responder or city legislative characters integrated into the plot, e.g. the commissioner, the mayor, the fire chief; more of these people would help flesh out how deep this corruption run and how something like Article 8 was implemented and abused so frivilously, it also would've made Zeke's decision to turn in his partner all the more powerful seeing the full extent of his detractors' influence
- could've used Zeke's name to further Saw's underlying religious tones rather than paying lip service with William's rant
Not bad but ripe with missed opportunities and odd choices that weaken its impact.
You know, people always talk about how studio interference in movies tends to ruin them and oftentimes they're right, but I think complete creative control in the hands of one leads to disaster more often. No one likes a studio forcing a creator to make changes that they think will bring in more money, but oftentimes it takes a third party or other outside perspective on things, to make a project better overall. Sometimes you need someone, who's not connected or invested in a project, to give the creators a more objective perspective on their idea.
3:05 damn that new lt. Jangles trailer looks lit
He's right, you know. Stick with the first 3 and you'll be fine. Venture out after that and you're going down a slippery slope.
Excellent use of that Jay and Silent Bob clip 😂
This is the review I didn't know I needed.
The intro is too perfect
Would have been better if Samuel L Jackson was the killer then in every sequel they could milk his catchphrase.
I'm glad to finally see a real review of this movie. Everyone keeps trying to say this movie is top notch and superb. It was SO bad 🤣
Samuel L Jackson yelling and beating up cops after Chris Rock got shot was hilarious!!
I would love to see a Saw retrospective!
The south park cop voice made it better lollll
This is beautiful🎯
To be fair, when I saw Saw for the first time, I was thinking, " man, they should make this more orange and play some rap music"
Great flick! Loved it - Best saw YET. EXCELLENT
i liked this film. it was a 7/10 for me.
Cant wait cordery! I know its going to be bloody fantastic.
Hahah that opening was hilarious. P.s. Brisbane represent!
Saw in Space...sounds magnificent. They could have weightless traps! 🙄
One thing I hate about the new saw movies what was the point of saw the final chapter because think about it it says the final chapter but now it’s not over
Yeah! Go to space and revive John Cramers body like Frankenstein style while he uses space lasers and stuff and traps future people and aliens! I’d watch that for a dollar!
Chris rock: “THERES NOBODY IN THESE COMMENTS I CAN FUCKING TRUST!!!”
Can't wait for your The Conjuring 3 review
Jigsaw: Alright World's Greatest Detective. Oh wait, that's BATMAN.
You will never be batman.
*Chris Rock punches the wall and cries.
2 minutes in and im already crying of laughter lmfaoo
Your review of this is more entertaining than the movie itself.
Look forward to your video on the SAW franchise!!! Just as you was honest about The Terminator series after T2, you did well on that video “Terminator Dark Fate is a WASTE OF TIME” video, I know you’ll do the same with the SAW series. Go ALL in hard when doing it…, the over all take for the SAW movies etc.
Great review.
Ive been waiting for thissss! Now i got it in the morning, this is special day for me, special because this is my first time wake up early in the morning and i managed to sneak past around 7.8k early viewer ! Hands down the funniest movie I’ve ever seen
That intro earned you this sub
This movie was amazing
I say you make that saw documentary, I think we would enjoy it
good stuff
>"No one's going to like this movie"
Hate to break it to ya, champ...
Glad I never planned on seeing this. Good video though!
I cannot see him without thinking "The big piece of chicken"
I haven't thought about Jay and Silent Bob in decades. Thanks fucko
Maybe you could say the saw franchise is going through a... SPIRAL?
I'll be waiting
Chris Rock: Hey, if Jordan Peele did it, why not me?
Great review, Cordery!!! Please do the same for the zombie movie Army of the Dead , and by zombie I mean it's emotionally dead and has no brains....
Damn 🤣
I have now a head cannon that Will Smith just slapped Chris Rock because deep down he didn't like Spiral in the first place. Who knows.
You won just from that intro my dude. Lmao.
Can't think of Chris Rock as a badass cop as he gets smacked around like a bee-otch by will smith.
Your Cop Drama voice is awesome lol
What ending song is that?
Agreed on the Samuel Jackson part! Thank you!
Close your eyes, watch the movie and its just a twisted version of Madagascar
“You’re a maverick Chris Rock”
The "South Park Cop Dialogue" you do is "awersurm".
Someone did a rise and fall already hope you u make yours soon
I thought the movie was really good but you making fun of it is pretty funny 😆
We need a saw movie in space...
he should have made a full length "how not to get shot by the cops" film.
Ok but imagine saw in space
One of those films when it was announced I thought was an actual joke.
Good luck on the saw documentary man, take your time on it aye and try not to burn yourself out.
I know you’re taking the channel in a new direction, but what are the chances of the Rise and Fall of Saw doc still happening? We’re getting Saw X this year so I’m hoping you’re still working on it.
