I was born with Moon/Neptune in 12th. Was abandoned by my mother twice, at 18mos and 12years. Taught astrology in prison, was an activist in the 60s and arrested many times. Ended up taking care of my mother at the end of her life. Conducted many healing meditation circles. My teacher, Ms. Isabel Hickey taught us that 12th house required “serve or suffer”. Wow! I had lost hope on 12th house explanatios already but then I watched this video. So spot on! I have Sun, Mercury, Venus and Mars in 12th house Leo, and a jupiter in 9th house. I have always had existential questions ever since I was a kid and now I attend philosophy classes, which I advise to everyone with 12th house stellium. I also found that all type of spiritual work, meditation, journaling, shadow work, chanting help a lot so I try to do it everyday. I am 36 and I still play volleyball in a team (Probably Mars in Leo helps), I can speak 5 different languages (Turkish is my native language) and I had higher education. I am writing these because I want people to stop thinking that 12th house is a failure!! Also, in Steven Forrest's book "Inner Sky" he refers to 1st and 12th houses as "freedom houses" so any kind of acitivity that you feel brings you freedom belongs to your 12th house purpose. Mine is traveling. I feel refreshed and well educated when I travel and get to know people, cultures and lifestyles. It took me 36 years to reach balance in my inner life (Leo vanity does not help lol) but I understand now that the more healthier you are inside your head, it reflects back to the world tenfolds. I am happy, I love spreading positivity and happiness around me. Don't be scared of 12th house, just enjoy it knowing that everything turns out in your favor in the end - even if you cannot see it from today! Big hug!
Great! I have sun mercury and mars in Leo in the 12 th with the whole signs house. I think the 12 th is so special and I think it is the house of free will because is the “zero” house, before the first. The house where we have capacity to influence things before they become alive. It’s complex but this was my latest insights.

As a 12th house virgo,
I associate with prison concept,
4 me, As an under 18 year old "child",
I felt imprisoned by school.
I resented the experience.
I resented authority (over me).
I felt liberated when i graduated.
I left home immediately,
No more school - no college!
I began to learn after school years; excellerating my interest in intelligence thru every decade since....
I've enjoyed learning, 40+ years post k-12 schooling.
Learning can be fun
& applicable to my curiosity in life.
I was successful in a medical profession, high earning
& i quit when i was 42
To seek love.
My choice was supported successfully. I stopped the pursuit of earning money.
I eliminated economic thinking.
And i cultivated trust.
I eliminated fear.
I am happy - content. Fulfilled.
Estoy contenta!

SAME!!! I have my Sun, Saturn, Mercury, and Venus ALL in Taurus/12th house. My Venus and Varuna (the Vedic 'Neptunian' God) are conjunct my Gemini ASC and Neptune is conjunct my DESC at 0° Sagittarius AND my North Node is in Pisces/10th!!! Virgo Stellium in the 12th. I was conceived in a mental asylum. Given up for adoption and funny enough, bred to be a Catholic. I am the family heretic. As cliché as it may be, having a Virgo stellium, I am a nurse and have spent close to 20yrs caring for others and not myself. Everything you’ve said resonates with me 100%.

This was so helpful!! I have 12th house moon in sag and 9th house sun in Virgo .. and planets in between. 12th house energy is hard for me to put into words but Ari spoke of it wonderfully. The need and desire to be alone is big for me and the yearning to be of service/impact the world on a healing/spiritual level and the capacity to see feel and deeply love all the messy parts of others and the world. The getting frustrated and lost in my own ego bc I feel like the worlds problems are too big and I can’t make a difference..Wow this was just so affirming, thank you Ari and Amanda for bringing this to light !

I am a Cancer and have the sun in the 12th. My main keywords are: hermit, quantum mind, no limit or restrictions, analytical thinking to understand spiritual realms, courage to think out of the box, new realizations, very deep that people don't understand, obsessive on one thing when it gets attention (idea, person, object whatsoever).

Wow I have a very active 6-12 house axis, with Sun in the 6th and Saturn in the 12th. Service and exhaustion are a big part of my life. My saturn in in cancer in the 12th house, so I can say that I've definitely felt imprisoned and enslaved by my family in some sense, and that has extended to my feeling about life as a whole lately, and I'm grappling with that. This was spot on!

@kal2487 thanks for sharing. I am trying to comfort my brother, who took care of my father and watched him die and all the guilt with it. He has Saturn in the 12th in cancer as well. If you have any advice as to what you do to mitigate this energy, I would love to know!!
@@mtully4624 I can only speak from my own experience, as I"m currently a caretaker for a parent. Maybe you did everything right and had a great relationship with the parent. Part of grieving is simply the trauma of the loss and seeing them go through pain and suffering.
Maybe you felt you couldn't carry the burden the ceaseless joy and patience. Maybe you had passing thoughts of frustration or annoyance. Maybe you felt stressed trying balance jobs/economics and spending time with the parent, and you wished for a moment the burden would be gone.
Maybe you didn't have a great relationship with them, and your time taking care of them was compromised by resentment, or even rage and hatred.
Maybe no matter what you did, you couldn't alleviate their pain and suffering, and so you felt inadequate and powerless and that translates to guilt.
Saturn is about responsibility but also about guilt and doubt. So if you feel someone is your responsibility, you might become a harsh taskmaster to yourself, and be too critical. Saturn in cancer can also impede emotional processing, so you get stuck in grief.
The only thing that has worked for me is grieving. Grieving the trauma of the loss and the experience, including the ways you wish you could have done better, been more perfect and understanding, and even all that stress, pain. confusion you carried in a situation that was simply a tough situation.

Forgiveness, that's it!
In the rainforest in Southern Mexico I had in a very profound love-encounter the experience that something seemed to explode in the centre of my physical body and made energy moving towards the 5 ends of my body and beyond. It gave me simultaneously insight to the origin of all problems in our human world - in short: missing love or incapacity to love - and I felt like forgiveness went through all my cells, what made me cry an "ocean of tears" - in a way of relief.
This had been taken place about 15 months after I had developed at the Mexican Caribbean the healing treatment "Bio-Cosmo-Energy".
My Saturn and Neptun are just 1 degree apart in the 12th house.

It's like my Soul understands the energy of the 12th being the Ending and Beginning simultaneously, but my rational mind is trying to compartmentalize it. It seems like this video was made for me.
With the work I am doing, Jungian psychology and expanding the 8-function model of John Beebee to four sides of the mind- conscious ego, subconscious defender, unconscious ID (also known as the Shadow or inner child), and subconscious super-ego - with the two subconscious sides being protectors and kind of like cooling systems for the ego and ID, I recently had a revelation that it's the super-ego that holds our ability to forgive and also our concepts of shame and guilt.
After watching this video it appears apparent to me that the 12th house is directly linked to the super-ego.
Astrology is amazing. I thank this channel for everything that it shares. ❤️

I have my Chiron and Part of Fortune in my 12th house with the apex of a Yod pointing to my Chiron. I can’t even begin to describe to you the type of intense, earth shattering experiences I have had throughout my life that have stripped my beliefs down and away time and time again. Including a spiritual experience at age 26/27 that was horrible/indescribable and turned my world upside down, but also set me on a path of awakening that I don’t think I would have found otherwise. I am beyond grateful for finding this video. This talk came at a great time. My 12th house is a packed school bus. I have mercury 16 (libra), saturn 25 (libra), pluto 27 (libra), venus 29 (libra), and sun 1 (scorpio). My rising is scorpio 2 degrees. My north node is in my 9th house in cancer.
I've been on a healing journey for around 1.5 years. I feel like I finally have my voice (BML in 3rd in Capricorn) and am able to set healthy energetic boundaries for myself. I have had to let go of long time friends, that was probably because of transiting pluto squaring my natal pluto. ...now I am enjoying many more years of Plutonian energy. My moon is in Aquarius at the 8 degree, but pluto is already squaring my sun and perhaps rising. I look at pluto as a great guide. After all, pluto will come back to my 27 degree mark one more time. Each time pluto has hit that mark, big shifts have happened in my relational life. I do not fear pluto. Pluto is helping me grow and transform into a person I love now more than ever. I feel I understand myself better than I ever have. I feel the energy I am emitting is helping those around me cultivate positive changes for themselves.

Absolutely love this. Scorpio rising, 8th house NN, Leo sun and mars the 9th, mercury, Venus in 10th house Virgo, and Pluto, moon and Saturn at the last 3 degrees in my 12th house libra. I have found that planets we have in the 12 house are very karmic.... negative karmic forces related to the particular planet one has placed there has to be reworked in one sense. !2th house has been called the house of suffering or service. One must learn to surrender and sacrifice some ego attachment for the full 12 house relief to slowly be reborn. The slow awakening that one has learned though difficult suffering ( attachments from running away or holding to much of some ego form or dissolution's) then those becomes the raw compost to help others.

Wonderful stuff! As a Piscean, I explain myself, as the feeling of having one foot on earth, the other in heaven, or rather the material or the spiritual. Yes, I so understand and feel that Judeo-Christian part. (Others have said how difficult life is for the 12th house and the Pisceans. Yes, I have always felt earthly matters were so strange to me. Money has little to do with my existence on this earth plane. I am a counselor, and this work is very natural to me. Ari surely is the first one I have heard able to get into the deepness and understanding of this energy. It IS hard for Anyone to get and to understand.

Wow this was amazing! I have Virgo in the 12th house with my North Node and Pluto both at 7 degrees and Venus in Pisces 5th house at 5 degrees. I can see how this part of my chart changed my life. I was very committed to the Judeo-Christian life and in several leadership positions. At 38 yrs old I left it all, I was depressed and couldn't find truth in what I was taught to believe. Now I explore various religions but love tarot, astrology and all the woo woo stuff. I guess it all was meant to be because I've never been happier in my spiritual journey.

Meaning ...is in the moment...so loved what Ari shared, resonate. Recently I have thought of life as a paradigm. To keep looking for there is another view to not get stuck in one view. Also to consider life as water, I'm 75% water to flow in this life as water. Speaks of flexibility, adaptability, freedom. I am working with Chiron in the 12th house...all fascinating.

I would like to suggest an explantion for the 12th house place - when you look at the sky it is the place where darkness rises in the evening and the light rises at dawn ( with no human control on when it happens or abilty to stop it or make it happen). I am gessing for the ainchent ones this was a miricle and something they had no control over and so - they assosiated this area with things that were bigger then them and godly like.

I began studying astrology in the early nineties and there were topics almost no one wanted to talk about. One of them was the twelfth house where my Part of Fortune resides in Cancer. No one wanted to talk about that, either.
These past three years have taken me to depths of despair that i have never felt before. Considering my abusive upbringing and religious indoctrination, this says quite a lot. A former partner almost succeeded in killing me. He tried twice and raped me as a final act. I stopped caring about everything concerning my life. I looked out at the world and saw nothing but sickness and violence. I wanted nothing to do with it. Countless times, I raged about surviving just to live in this awful world. I felt trapped here. Why didn't I just die? My suffering would be over. On and off for the past three years, these have been my thoughts.
After listening to this podcast, I understand why people don't want to visit the twelfth house. I have a few painful areas in my chart; my third house with Pluto and Uranus, Chiron in the 9th, and Saturn in the 11th. There's not much in my chart untouched by Saturn. But the twelfth house lies the deepest pain for me. I disconnected several times listening to this podcast because it's the sort of pain that can undo a person, and maybe that's the point. I worry that I wouldn't survive, and maybe that is also a delusion. I'm not sure I want to test it while idolizing death, even part time.
Everything my Part of Fortune says about me feels like a fantasy. Just like me in life, it floats in my chart without anything touching in it, aside from repeating patterns. It's a dangling carrot always out of reach.
Surrender used to be a filthy word, a lot like forgiveness. I would love to surrender to a higher power now, but it's an abstract. How does one connect to and trust the abstract?
I was introduced to A Course In Miracles in the late nineties and hated it. I was opposed to anything that sounded even remotely Christian. It also had parts that seemed self serving and out of touch. A friend, for example, told me that I only existed because she brought me into existence for her enjoyment. I lost quite a lot of respect for her over that comment. Oddly, this course has flitted across my consciousness a few times in recent months. I thought of checking it out again now that I am in a much different space, spiritually. Here, it appeared again.

Especially appreciated the question about the paradox between all the dark/heavy traditional connotations for the 12H and the fact that it is the place of the new day/sunrise. For those of us with 12H sun this seems particularly challenging to get to grips with as it is not “logical” initially. I came into this incarnation with Sunrise along with Venus, Saturn, Mercury, Ceres, Juno and Pallas Athene all having a gathering in the Dawn (12th) house. In Scorpio. T-sq to Pluto in the 9th and Mars in the 3rd. This discussion was one of the most meaningful I’ve ever heard to help unpack and understand the star map of my birth that I’ve ever encountered….and I’ve been studying astrology for over 40 years…..so, A deep and humble bow to you Ari for the wisdom you transmit and to you Amanda for asking and reflecting what many of us were no doubt resonating with as Ari spoke. Mental health is just part of life. And prisons and people in it are also part of us. As is self imposed isolation. Our perceptions can change towards all of this. We may not need to like it. But it's so real.
