Have you tried trimming up when in reverse? Thats helped me around the dock. I guess it helps blow water under the boat. It was advice another boater gave me and seems to help. I have the 266 Cayman as well. Coming out of the Hendry Creek area.

I am looking for a family friendly bay boat for inshore and nearshore fishing in NC / SC. I found your videos when initially researching Tidewater 2500 CB. I saw one at the boat show and really liked it. But, I was also seriously considering the Robalo 266. So, you have a unique perspective as you have both boats I am looking into. Which one do you recommend if buying new? is the 266 worth the extra money over the 2500? what is the MPG difference in the Tidewater and the Robalo? I really enjoy your videos, very helpful and entertaining!
The Robalo 266 is about 2x the cost of the Tidewater 2500CB. For the money, you can’t beat the tidewaters performance imo. I went Robalo for 3 reasons 1) full head 2) layout 3) my good buddy has a tidewater so I wanted something different. The Robalo is finished better, it’s got a little more room, has a more luxurious feel to me. But it For the money, you can’t beat tidewater. However, I’m super happy with Robalo and love my dealer.
Thanks! great answer. One of my main concerns about the Robalo is local dealer support. I have a Tidewater dealer about 30 mins from me, but the closest Robalo dealer is over 2 hrs, with most being 4 hrs. So, that was also a factor. This boat will be used occasionally, since I dont live on the coast, so the Tidewater should be adequate for my use I would imagine. You see all kinds of differing opinions, so good to hear honest answers from a real owner. one more question, would you get the leaning post live well again on the Tidewater? the rear leg room seems lacking with that option, but it is a nice feature as the live well on the rear casting deck doesn't seem as accessible given how far back it is towards the transom. was that a hassle? the Robalo live wells seem more accessible with larger openings for netting bait, what's your experience with these two?@@CanalLifeSWFL
@@rickylong3346 I would go without the livewell in the leaning post. Mostly because it’s hard to get your hand into it. I never had people sitting back there because they sat on the side but it is tight too. If you are live bait chumming a lot, would be nice.
