To answer the questions I forgot to address in the video:
1. I do NOT have a double pedal. I tried asking if I could purchase a second bass drum pad so I could play double bass for this video, but this was unfortunately not available.
2. Blast beats.
3. The ride bell does not ping.
4. sex.
I suppose that you can't get an extra pad if you wanted double floor tom also.
answer #4 is the best
Blast beatability was a must for me. but I still enjoyed.
How are we gonna play _Born for 22 Things_ if the ride won't ping?
Well done for clearing up the loose ends 👍
I didn't know I wanted to learn drums until I saw this video. My wife and I bought the kit and we now play a little everyday. So far we sound terrible but it's fun and we get to laugh a lot.
Did you also hook up your kit to a computer to use with software so you can get better drum sounds?
Can I have it ?
You sound like a good husband mate. Good on ya !
5 months later, do you guys sound any better?

Dude you’re a kickass drummer and also funny as hell

I bought 2 of them thank you!!!!!!
Got one for me and one as a gift for my 11 yr old bro! He always sits in my room watching me play my acoustic set so now we can both have an identical set! He's gonna be so happy!!!!!

@@hangingwithvoid360 Good man. Hope your day is a good one.
Just got this kit as my first attempt at learning some drums.
One thing I noticed quickly is that the headphone output sucks. Super thin sound out of it, and was kinda worried that I'd made a mistake. However, using the audio out into an interface, and then into headphones lets you hear the kits sound like they are supposed to sound, so it def needs some extra power to get the full sound out of it. That plus creating your own kit from the best sounds in the brain make it sound miles better than it did when I first plugged it in.
I received my kit in January 2021. The headphone output sounded perfect. A few months later I set up for my daily practice and the low EQ was pretty much gone, same as yours. I too switched to the "audio OUT" and ran it through an old drum module's AUX IN, and it worked fine.
please use ezdrummer if you can find it, this way you will not be atuck with bad sounds that come with the kit. will take some time to setup but definitely worth it. also that way you can use the sound coming out of your computer
Can i ask what headphones you are using?
Sounds like the impedance on your headphones is just too high
Can it detect rim shots?
Awesome, so I got this for my kid for Christmas this year and was soooo worried it would completely suck.. then this video randomly popped into my feed thanks for the demo!!! I feel much better about our purchase!!! Cheers!
If Sam incorporates the pads into his kit, that would make an awesome hybrid kit.

@@vibratoryuniverse308 what are you talking about?

Highly, highly doubt it.
This kit looks mad capable actually. I'm planning a drum room eventually for demoing stuff and this kit would be a godsend.
Got this drum kit since a few weeks and i love it!Perfect for small appartments!
The fact that this $500 kit comes with sticks and a pedal is amazing, my $1200 Rolland kit didn't even come with those 😂
Rolands are awesome, but this one looks great for the price
Alesis Nitro Mesh for $379 comes with them
I feel ya hahaha paid 1800 to get 2 crashes hahaha
To be fair if you're buying that sort of kit you probably have a preference for a stick model, and ditto for pedals (and you've almost certainly got one already). For a kit at this price aimed a beginner I'd kind of expect the pedal at least because a beginner will be starting with nothing.
yeah i had to buy a kick and high hat stand for my roland..spaced out on the high hat stand and had to wait til the next day to play it...sucked

Welcome aboard dude, thank you!!
These cheap e-kits are really amazing for what they are... and to start drumming or to record on the daw, this is just worth every buck.
These kits really just need a module upgrade. Add a older Roland module like a td-8 or td-11? And you will have a great practice kit
Alesis nitro mesh is also very very good might even be better even though I'm pretty sure it's cheaper.
Not really, they might be cheap and feature rich, but they fall apart really quickly. I learned my lesson with my first ekit and then got a Yamaha.

I seem to have bought the same kit, except mine is from Millenium, the house brand of Thomann. Nice to see it played on by someone who can actually play, as opposed to me still learning the basics. It does work as an incentive, so thanks for that.
Oh, btw, I do have a double bass pedal hooked up and it kinda works on the single kick pad....separate kick pads were available for this kit so I bought one for my girlfriends kit

@@laszlozoltan5021 Hah cheers dude! I'm practicing as much as possible while also working around my neighbours work hours since they work from home now. It's so obvious when samus plays how much practice he's had on the drums, I had an electric kit for a couple months and decided I needed the real thing about 4 months ago and I'm loving it! So I'm practicing as hard as I'm allowed to.. I'm just pissed I didn't start when I was younger!
How old were you when you started?
@@BegetterVIIEVEN It was only about 6-7 months ago I got my first electric kit and started playing drums. Played that for about 3 month and decided I needed a real kit which was only a few months ago now. I'm 19 atm, I just wish I had picked up the drums instead of sax at 9! I played the sax for 5-6 years and got pretty darn good at it but my interest for bands and the music I was playing fell off so I quit. I then discovered metal from an awesome friend of mine who showed me all the songs he listened to and I was hooked! I gravitated towards drums while listening to this kind of music and thought It'd be waste to not even try and see if I could play drums, safe to say, I haven't looked back!
@@choasfallen7188 Really cool, I barely touch my guitar, but it'd be super neat for a metal band to have saxophone 😁
I don’t have a kit, but this makes me think that learning to play drums might be affordable soon. Thank you Ling Bahee!
I got a drum kit if you want it?
you can also get a very inexpensive deal on ebay or facebook, especially in the us. I got me an alesis dm 10 for 300 bucks with upgrades. Id recomend not settling for anything cheaper than 300 bucks new cause the quality really decreases after that.
Definitely affordable, my mesh alesis kit cost £250
@@chloeturner789 Wow that’s very generous of you! I live in Alberta (Calgary) so the shipping on that may necessitate me selling my oldest boy lol.
Always keep an eye on kijiji. Also if you can't afford a kit, buy a pad and some sticks. That can take you great lengths, and make drumming behind the kit come much easier
Stumbled upon this video today on break, definitely considering acquisition of this kit. Subscribed. Keep up the weird zany videos!!! 🙃
I love my e-kit... though yes it is a cheap alesis kit, I have since frankensteined it with some nicer roland components. Cool thing about e-kits too, I managed to expand the number of triggers by wiring additional triggers to the rim shot sensors of certain pads, then configured the brain to make a cymbal sound on those triggers. I almost never intentionally use a rim shot while playing, so that trigger is bypassed and gave me extra cymbal sounds.
We need a full version of 8:20 - 8:35
Yeeeaa

I need a full version of 9:17

Holy shit, when you connected the kit to the EZDrummer everything sounded 1000x better and clear
Never use a cheap kits module sounds. Ez drummer will improve the sound of just about any E kit, but higher end modules, you know like ones that cost just as much as the kit, usually have legit samples similar to easy drummer. Plus any decent module is gonna have the capability to import your own sounds, so you can sample your own real kit if you have one.
Ezdrummmer is easily (see what I did there!) The greatest thing to happen to ekits in a long time. Mesh pads are also the ONLY way to keep the experience even close to realistic. If you buy a cheap ekit then do yourself a huge favor and snag at least the EZDRUMMER basic. It has enough drums and profiles to git within any type of music. You can also test the basic kit out free for a week
I use an Alesis Surge just to screw around when I'm trying out new patterns or I'm practicing my blasts (I'm sure thats neighborhood appreciated). I use EZDRUMMER with the METAL! add-on and it sounds tiiiiiighhtt. Oyuuurrrrrr

I bought the upgraded version because of this video. It’s been a great purchase and I’m having a lot of fun. Thank you.
Some channels are just a good source of damned good information and this channel is one of them. I bought the ded-100. Just arrived 2 days ago. It’s for my 8 yr old 😬. Very well made and good quality. Would definitely recommend the company. I can even adjust the sound output on each head/ symbol in settings. I can Hook up a iPad or phone and learn/jam along with vids. I Added a wireless headset and amp also. You don’t half to hit hard or bang on drum to get a good loud noise since it’s electronic.
I ordered this mate I'm so excited that's for the review
The sound is really good, and the setup looks great.
90% of how good something will sound comes from practice. The other 10% comes from the quality of the instrument. You make this kit sound great. So anyone looking to start just know that you will sound awful on even the most expensive kit out there. This is great to start
Can confirm.
;)
..
I suck at drums now...was "good" back in my youth (80's and early/mid 90's). Then...well, life and shit. Fast forward to about 3 years ago when I picked up an Alesis Strike Pro (11 pc) so I could "get back into drumming" now that I'm living in an apartment and am a cool 51 years old. You know the old saying? "Use it or loose it"? Yeah...turns out it's not just a saying, it's a fact! LOL!
..
So, bottom line, my $5500 (I think that's how much it cost me, maybe a bit more or less) e-drums sit there and get played every couple days, just for fun. I play songs I played in my youth...the easy stuff; mostly "Hair Band Metal" or "Metal" (for those days; AC/DC, Motley Crue, Motorhead, Ozzy, ...Poison, Cinderella, Def Lepard, etc). With my rather bad fibromylagia, I can usually only warm up for 5 minutes then play one or two songs. Then I'm done and need to recover for a day (fibro SUCKS!!! >:( ).
..
But you know what? Just dickin' around with the drums for 10 minutes puts a big ass smile on my face Every. Single. Time. :D Even if it hurts! And "hurts" both physically, and emotionally knowing just how much a SUCK now! ;)
I mean most of the in-built presents sounded decent, but with some, especially the cymbals were very electronic and kinda cheap sounding. Although his playing was spot on perfect, the end result was cheap-sounding recording of a professional drummer. So I don't fully agree, as once again, at least in terms of sound quality it was lacking even with a pro drummer. However, after loading some presets from EZDrummer those problems went away and the sound quality/samples were very good and the audio was matched with the skill of the drummer. It's great that you can do that- in cheap electronic kits the sample quality and how 'real' vs 'cheap' or plasticky they sound it's a limiting factor and having an option to load some better samples it the most important thing from what' I've seen and heard from people.
@@plumfun6750 god damn you’re so cool to me lol
If that were true the best musicians would play the cheapest crap instruments available. I don't see Steve Vai playing a $200 GRX Ibanez. Quality of instruments effects playability and sound. I would say closer to 50/50, and ot shrinks with how amazing you are.
@@burningempire666 I had thought about adjusting percentages and come to the conclusion that it’s too difficult to accurately quantify anyway. However the point still stands. I’d also like to compare another idea to the concept of how we tend judge people’s ability. Once we turn things into a competition, even the most minute of differences become super apparent. Take top Olympic runners for example. The difference between their race times are often ranging from 1-2%. Say they raced with an old pair of ordinary sneakers. That would be enough of a difference to go from gold to possibly no medal. Either way with almost any pair of running shoes they’d beat nearly anyone in the world. But to hang with the best of the best they need their top equipment. In music it’s even more necessary. But either way the most important part to hang with the top people would be practice. Thanks for your input though. It is clear that pro musicians should still buy pro level equipment
I don’t know why I was recommended this, but I’m glad I was. I’m gonna get this drum kit, & also subscribe to your channel. You sir are awesome!

Thanks for reviewing this Samus! I have an Alesis Command-X with the mesh heads, which retails for about double this Donner kit in the US. It's my first drum kit and I bought it when I was living in an apartment so I needed something quiet-ish (my downstairs neighbors would probably disagree on the "quiet" part but w/e, I tried). From what I can see in the video, it looks like the Donner has similar features, if a bit stripped down. I could go on about the differences I'm seeing but it seems to be "you get what you pay for." If I upgrade, I would seriously look at a more expensive but more expandable Roland. There are some amazing drummers on Twitch and YT using really nice Roland kits and they don't seem hampered at all.
Really I'm just tired of seeing "real" drummers shit talk electronic kits. I've played on acoustic kits, yes it feels different, no I don't feel like I'm "not a real drummer." Plus I can record to a DAW like Reaper in MIDI or OGG/WAV. I didn't have to spend $800 on mics and another $300+ on a decent 8-channel mixer to do that. With COVID my drum lessons have been through Melodics and it's pretty fun, even if I'm missing the personalized feedback and guidance of a teacher.
For me, an electronic kit was a perfect starter and does exactly what I want it to. Yes there are things I'd like my kit to do that it doesn't, but for now and at that price point it's great.
I’m in 7th grade now, but when I get to college I will definitely have to look into an E-kit. I will definitely check this one out. Thanks for the review. Ohhh yurrr

I was an OCDP guy back when they were actual custom drums. I was hesitant to go electronic, but I’ve got a Roland TD-8 module, 6-piece set of mesh Rolands, dual-trigger cymbals, and a double Speed Cobra pedal. Have had them a few years and they are still soooo much fun. I still discover something new in the sound options all the time!
That TD-8 module should have some great midi songs to play along to. The TD-11 and 12 even let you edit those songs and build your own in a step sequencer, which is only found now on the TD-50's.
