    Supermodel Emulator supermodel3.com/
    Daytona USA 2 was released in two editions, the first being Battle on the Edge which included three courses and three cars to drive. Later, a revision titled Power Edition was released which included changes to the AI controlled cars' difficulty and the game's physics. More notably, Power Edition also included a new course, the Challenge Mix course, and a new car to drive, the Hornet Classic. The Hornet Classic drives the same way it did in the original Daytona USA. It uses a physics model completely different from the other three cars, meaning it might take some practice to get used to driving it around the tight corners of Daytona USA 2.
    The way that the Hornet powerslides is different compared to the cars from Daytona 2. Just like in the original Daytona, the line that the car will follow around a corner is determined only by the car's speed. When approaching a corner, do not release the gas pedal! Instead, shift down to a lower gear very early to start slowing the car down to the correct speed. Then, turn into the corner, and when the car reaches the correct speed for the corner shift to fourth gear and straighten the steering wheel. Practice powersliding the Hornet on the third corner of the Beginner course. Shift to second gear to bleed off speed, steer into the corner, and shift to fourth gear when your speed is around 170 mph/270 kph.
    Additionally, shifting to first gear does not cause the Hornet to immediately spin out like the three other Daytona 2 cars. You can use this to slow down more quickly for a corner; remember to steer gently and avoid using your brakes or else the Hornet will spin out. If the car does start to spin, do not give up! To catch the car, do not turn against the spin or else the car will suddenly change direction towards the outside wall. Center the steering wheel and let the car finish a full rotation before trying to take control again; you can also try to steer gently to keep the car closer to the middle of the track.
    Remember that the Hornet is not as forgiving as the Daytona 2 cars! Avoid contact with cars and other walls at all costs! Since the Hornet loses traction quickly to begin with, damaging the car will make it drive even worse. Additionally, the Hornet accelerates slower as the gears are much longer and the engine only revs to 7000 rpm; shift up in the yellow zone of the tachometer if you lose speed. Because of its unique physics, the Hornet has the potential for lap times faster than the Hard level car, but only if you can keep your speed up through each corner and draft behind opponents to help the Hornet accelerate faster. Note that the hornet does not lose speed after you slingshot around a car after drafting, so once you hit your top speed you can freely move around the track to get into position for the next corner.

    Good thing you didn’t let it finish, the Hornet is practically impossible to drive on automatic transmission. I tried once and after that I never wanted to use automatic for any car.

      @Katana2097 Před 4 lety +20

      I started drifting on Daytona 1 in auto because I was six years old and didn't know how to use manual. You can drive it pretty well on auto actually. Not as nice and fast as manual but it just takes a slightly different approach. To drift, just stomp the brake and turn the wheel while keeping your foot down on the gas. Easy.

    • @ArcadeStriker
      @ArcadeStriker Před 3 lety +7

      @@Katana2097 in Daytona 1, you can to an extent, but Manual lets you activate drifting inmediately and control more the speed/when to stop the drifting arc. In Daytona 2...the brake drifting in automatic for Hornet is even less effective so I feel that Manual with this one is a must unless you really know how to get the drifts off Automatic (which I don't know myself).

      @@onepunchdan4986 of couse, this is one of the reasons why daytona usa looks appealing as an arcade racing game, those damage physics in daytona usa were pretty odd and weird tho, because instead of having scratches, hood and trunk opening, the car just simply gets dented and the wheels start becoming loose and shaky, also when the hornet catches a crash hit, the car simplay just gets super dented, even the roof is dented, even tho the car is equipped w/ a roll cage,*b r u h*, well i mean, its a 1993 game and games werent so advanced, so acceptable enough, daytona usa 2 improved damage physics at a great extent, the car can literally open the trunk and hood, the car can get scratched, the roof dent was removed due to roll cage logic, and better, if the car gets crashed multiple times, the car will look exaggerately damaged, and the front car engine is exposed coz the front car body is ripped away, dat intrigues me the most.

      @@onepunchdan4986 sadly, the new daytona 3 championship usa by sega dumbed down the physics, and made the game absolutely bad.
      1. Damage Physics
      Sega removed the car shake from the game, and instead of improving this, sega just made the daytona 1 damage physics return, which was pretty lazy assuming that i was expecting this system to be improved.
      2. Cars
      Instead of making various cars with various difficulties, sega just made the daytona 1 car selection return, with only the hornet and chevrolet ss, just with different designs at each course, which is again, pretty dumbed and lazy.
      3. Course
      Sega did not improved the courses in this game, because the stages look just the same as the previous games, which kinda gives a bit of blandness in the game, assuming i was expecting new assets in the game, like jets, fireworks, sponsors etc., also the 3 new courses of daytona 3 r just reskins and mirrorred versions of the originals, which infuriates me.
      4. HUD
      The hud is very underwhelming because of the lack of design and appeal but at least they did the 3D map well along with the drivers positions, but they removed the traffic radar, really annoying.
      5. Music and Attract mode
      Sega literally just copied the attract mode from daytona 1, and copied the lets go away from daytona 1, but at least it was slightly improved, but they never improved the music slingshot from daytona 2.
      Overall, the game is a total reskin of daytona usa with additional mirrored tracks, chevrolet ss and better graphics.
      Sega do something w/ this.

If your time is fast enough to reach the total time leaderboard, you get a special trophy cutscene and an opportunity to enter your initials to be saved into the high scores. The machine keeps high scores for lots of other stats too: it keeps track of the fastest corner entry speeds, the fastest laps on each track, the fastest times to complete the entire race in practice/time trial mode where there aren't any computer cars, and even the fastest time to drive the entire race backwards!

    • @onepunchdan4986
      @onepunchdan4986  Před 4 lety +2

      The Hornet may be more sensitive to your inputs than the other cars, but on the original Daytona cabinet this sensitivity was offset by the hardware itself: the original cabinet used a 270° steering wheel which means you have to turn the wheel nearly a half turn from its center to reach full lock, so it was easier to make small corrections to gently steer the car. The Hornet was still twitchy on the original hardware, but with tiny joysticks on gamepads or lower-end 180° PC wheels, it's even harder to make such small movements. I used a gamepad on this playthrough, but it took me a while to learn how to make the small inputs needed to keep the car under control. Keep practicing and you'll get it!

Sega's Daytona series was developed by them in-house by their Amusement Machine R&D division; the concept for the game was said to have been thought up by Toshihiro Nagoshi (who would later develop the Yakuza games) after he saw a NASCAR race while on a vacation to the US and wanted to recreate the approachable and exciting action of stock car racing
