I grew up in this area and became a Commercial Pilot. I often reflect how airlines and pilots soon found out it was much safer to use the coast to track down and then turn to you destination. In this case the Stimson would have flown to Byron Bay and turned right on to Lismore. There are many fatal crashes on the Brisbane Sydney trip.I remember the Lutana especially. And to-day there is VH-MDX. still missing.
