Hey guys, got the american P-63A-5 for you today. aplane requested, and on the to do list for about a year and a half now ;) but i got around to it! Never loose faith hehe. Hope you enjoy the review! Jengar Sorry to rain on your parade but 37mm has always been spark like mad, so better rely on .50 than the crappy potato gun, the 37mm spark is also why my P-39N-0 gone from awesome to joke planes.
their fixing a lot of the bigger calibers in the new patch though ;)
i will never understand why 37mm rounds can't take down a bomber in one pass, but 6 .50cals shread everything

I have this plane as a premium on USSR tree, one of my fav, no idea where the premium came from though I recently got back into War Thunder after playing it for little bit when it first came out.

One of the most underrated (and undertiered) planes in the game!
there's plenty of competition at 3.7, i wouldnt consider it terribly undertiered, maybe slightly, but there's a lot of planes at 3.7 that could be slightly higher.

@@tariqsingh3747 yeah now at 3.3 it's AWESOME. Especially the Soviet premium P-63 has 450%SL gain so it's both fun and grind friendly
Excellent planes, all of them! I've been flying the A-10 and C-5 out in RB, and they're just incredibly versatile BnZ planes and energy fighters, which are also very fast on the deck! The 37mm can be tricky, but I absolutely love them.
Edit: I also heartily disagree with you about turn time! At low speeds, yes, the turn rate is mediocre, even with flaps, and a 109G-2/trop will outturn you (I learned this the easy way in a 109G-2 vs 2 P-63s ;) ). The rollrate is decent at low speeds but also becomes excellent at higher speeds, outrolling most opponents that aren't FWs. Overall, at higher speeds it is remarkably maneuverable, partially attributable to its resistance to compression. I've out turned/maneuvered yaks and 109s (though only at medium to high speed) with this thing at a variety of altitudes, it's really quite impressive.
Edit2: the A-10 and C-5 variants produce much more power, and the superior energy generation allows you to turn and maneuver harder and/or for longer than the A-5 variant.

Varyag The P-63A-10 is amazing, definitely a step above the A-5. Not sure about the C-5
yes, i said its quite maneuverable for a turn or two, it looses speed in anything but a diving maneuvering though, and you'll quickly come into the disadvantage. but if you keep the speed up by staying in the vertical, you'll most likely win the engagement also indeed trough the lack of compression, which i also mentioned ;)
The A-10 is better at low- medium alt and the C-5 is better at high alt

This plane would be a good CAS plane, but I hate that there is no belt for the 37mm cannon.

A fast and lethal plane, that for reasons I cannot fathom the Americans and British hated. The Soviets got most of the hundreds built, and tore up German ground units with them.
ProjectFlashlight612 US hate them because they can't go to space with the freedom cargo delivery, UK hate them because it's no Lf MkIX.
yeah, its an interesting bit of history, the tale of this plane.
ProjectFlashlight612 The Americans and British hated the Kingcobra’s predecessor, the P-39, because it lacked a second gear on the supercharger (This made it unsuitable for the needs of the air battle over Europe) and because of handling issues (it had worse low-speed characteristics than the P-40). But the P-63 actually came with a second supercharger gear and the US were actually pretty pleased with its performance. It’s just that they had no reason to use it because by then they already had the remarkable P-51D which was (even though the P-63 was great) even better than the P-63.
The P-63 was hardly ever used in combat. The Soviets received it too late to have any impact on the war. I think you’re confusing it with the P-39, which the Soviets used extensively. Two completely different aircraft.
@@dogeness In addition, most US pilots preferred the .50 cals in their planes. They were familiar with their use and enjoyed the larger amounts of ammunition afforded by them.

he just rolled with ailerons and used elevator, then continued rolling after that.

Looking at the RP gain you made makes me sad. In the past you used to earn almost that much WITHOUT premium...but unfortunately Gaijin reduced RP and SL gain multiple times over the past few years :(
As for the Kingcobra, I hope I can get my hand on one of the Soviet Kingcobras. I have the Soviet P-39N and it is an absolute UFO, and apparently the Soviet Kingcobras (just like the US one tbh) are not too far off
Not surprised; it's expected from a free to play game, they need a source of income which of course is premium.
Brian Sun Soviet N-0 is awesome but firepower is really RNG-related, if your 37mm sparks, you would only got hit all days.

Fahd El Khamlichi What was wrong with keeping the game at its original grind? Players were happier long term, there was higher player retention, a much more positive image of the game, and I bet Gaijin made even more money than they do today.

I feel you there. You have pretty much side climb for 10 min or more just to get the altitude advantage, but only if 109s dive on other friendlies or they will still be above you.

@@jengar6258 everything that flies against it is faster and has a better climb rate or turn rate.
The only thing going for it is the weapons.
Even the German bf109s out turn it while simultaneously outclimbing,, outrunning, and has a higher thrust to weight ratio.
@@Psiikix everything eh? no, a few will be faster, but not many. This thing is very fast at its br. speed and energyfighting are top notch in the cobra's.
@@jengar6258 can't gain speed when everything outclimbs you.
The Japanese fighters are even faster. Their dive speeds are greater and their wings rip at a higher speed.
The ONLY thing this has going for it, may be the flat line speed, but that doesn't matter if all the enemy has to do it climb 1000m above you and dive to gain speed advantage over you.
So yes, everything it faces is better, Stat wise. It's a useless plane and that's why you rarely see anyone play it now.
@@jengar6258 all you have to do is look at the stats of all other planes it faces.
I'm not talking in game stats, I mean the spreadsheets people have put together on the multiple planes in the game.
