    20,000 Miles on my 1199 Panigale S "commuter." Solid throughout. BTW safety wire or ziptie your rear wheel nut retaining clips....both sides. When washing / rain, put aluminum foil tape over the yoke ring nut so water and rain doesn't infiltrate the steering head...rebuilt mine at 18K. Look for oil leaks near every service interval. Enjoy the greatest bike on two wheels.

    Hi, just ordered a 1299S due at start of May, only had test bike for an hour so not much experience riding one so far, first impressions after my 996, I was amazed how smooth and refined and easier it was to ride.
    Great bike be safe.

    Test drove the 959 couple a days ago and I was amazed ! So light easy to turn and small feeling. Alot of punch too...
    So no question I am definitely going for the 1299, can't replace displacement. Thanks for this vid, helped me make up my mind. Thank you for the CAN error too... good to look out for. Can't wait !!

    I've come into some unexpected money and could get a new V4S but at 12 thousand less for a 1299s with more than I have skills to match it seems like a no brainer, it could just be the heat issues for me if I have to minimise as much as possible for the summers I have in Australia.

    Commuting on the 1299 isn't daft, i heard it is very comfortable actually. More comfortable than alot of the competition.
    Its like they took all the good and the bad in the 1199 made it all good.

  • @manutoni
    @manutoni Před 8 lety

    Hey mate, great choice. I have a 2015 1299S used on street and 4 times on racetrack. You may consider a 38 teeth rear wheel ratio instead of the 39 teeth which makes the 2nd gear too short.
    To ride on the race track you must set TC level 4 or less and the anti wheelie to 4 or 3, otherwise the monster is not coming fast enough out of the corners.
    I have put on the Akrapovic w/o cat and set up the Ducati mapping that comes with it... I can't tell you what happens then... it's "different" :-)
    Cheers Manu

    By far Best Review on CZcams! Thank you for the effort in putting together a great video.. Im in the market to get a Panigale or an s1000 as a daily/commuter. and I cant seem to decide Ive been riding my uncles 1199 all week. and im really disappointed in the low end mph and how jerky it can get riding around under 50mph. any improvements on the 1299? more stable acceleration? Would panigale spacers help this problem? What about leg room? im 6'3 and it felt fine on stock rearsets but we installed the rizomas and i started o feel slightly cramped. Im not sure if it was because I rode it for a longer peroid that day or if it actually was the rearsets that affected it. do you notice a leg room difference from the 899 to the 1299? s1000 seems like the better commute bike but it lacks the soul of the Ducati and its Ltwin. can anyone help with any of these questions?

    Californians complain about the engine heat, here in Wales it's most often a bonus. But really though, the combination of rain and road salt will eat your bike like Alien blood. Wouldn't it be better to use something like a ten year Bandit for the winter, just to keep the bike special? As much as you try to keep on top of it, the salt will get in places you can't even see.

    • @BelterBikes
      @BelterBikes  Před 8 lety +1

      It definitely would be sensible to run a winter hack. Have an 89 GSX600F but just never got round to getting everything done to it for tax and mot.
      I'm a one pair of shoes kind of guy. I like to buy things and use them and whilst I understand owners wanting to keep their main bike pristine. I'm not worried about wear and tear and corrosion so much. I want to see how the bike withstands it given a decent amount of care and attention. Plus I don't feel I could justify the outlay on a 1299 if I was only doing 1500-2000 miles a year on it.

    • @Trickshot72
      @Trickshot72 Před 8 lety +2

      Belter Man, you're a rare one, in the best possible way. I had a Suzuki tea pot, I loved the thing. There's something about a bike that gets you home. You will build a relationship with your Panigale like very few will. I envy you for that. I don't envy the cleaning though. All the best, bruv.

    Such a great review. I rode a 916 as a commuter bike for 10 years, but sold it when life intervened. Always planned on getting a 998 after my kids grew up, but the Panigale is such a better bike. You've all but convinced me to get the 1299 over the 959. I'm curios if you think the 'S' model active suspension is worth the cost? Great review. Thanks.

    • @BelterBikes
      @BelterBikes  Před 8 lety

      Hi Ray, it's 1299S is something I talk about in the video I'm working on at the minute. Personally if cost is no issue at all go for it. However, £4500 is a lot of money for elec suspension, lighter wheels, full LED lights and some carbon in my opinion. I know the resale value on the S is probably higher but for me that £4500 is money better saved or spent on a track bike.
      I rode the S daily for a few weeks and I found the difference in feel and performance between the S and the base 1299, almost non-existent on the road. I have no doubt on track the S comes into it's own. On the road I found the base easier to get into and out of a corner. The S always seemed to run wide out of corners. I now know this is down to how the electronic suspension works and can be changed. On my base I can change settings manually in 90 seconds. The S took me about 20 minutes. Obviously once you have your settings set its quicker to flick between them.

      Thanks Belter. You've confirmed what I've read in most of the articles... I like the idea of using the additional funds for a track bike, but the Akrapovic exhaust is calling me like a siren... Cheers.

    as a new rider with previous biking experience would I'd to transition from a beginner bike 300cc to the Ducati safely after riding for a solid 12 months and a minimum of 3hrs daily riding? its my dream bike. I'm 6 foot tall so will it be comfortable? and is it less like as a commuter bike, you have a beautiful bike their be safe and thanx

    • @BelterBikes
      @BelterBikes  Před 8 lety

      Hi Mark, the bike will only go as fast as you want it. If you have and can exercise restraint and sensibility with the throttle then there is no reason why you couldn't ride one. It will be comfortable I reckon for you too at 6 foot. Definitely test ride one to see what you think.

      +L47B747W It depends on your ability but it is definitely easier to ride than an 1199 Panigale. The S1000RR has good road manners but I found it a bit boring to ride compared to the Panigale.

      Not at all. I'm covering that in next 1299 video. Should be up soon. Once setup for the road with base you are flying. Ridden both and hand on heart £4500 is a lot of dough for a difference you can't feel too much on the road.

      Hey man. In my opinion no. I've commented a few times below about different reasons why and cover it in my next video. In a nutshell. Keep your $5k and buy a sorted 675 Daytona trackbike. However, if you are made of money and won't notice the difference in your bank account go for it.

    • @BelterBikes

      Hey mate no I didn't have any issues like that. It could be a faulty gear position sensor or simply moisture on the gear position sensor causing it. That engine can be hard to get into N for the first few hundred miles but does loosen up considerably. Talk to your dealer would be my advice.
