The West just projects on Russia qualities which Russia never had.

Unfortunately, many of those missing people may literally never be found. According to the US DoD, in WWII, the US military had over 74,000 missing troops in addition to the 400k+ combat deaths the Americans suffered. In a city that was bombed to oblivion, missing people may have been forcibly repatriated by the Russians (an act of ethnic cleansing, like the forced deportation of Crimean Tatars and Polish Jews by the Soviets, which is why my country and others have classified this war as Genocide), buried under rubble, vaporized by an explosion, or just hastily buried (adding to risks of disease outbreak).
It is a shame that this has to happen for Westerners to finally understand what us Easterners have been saying about Russia for generations.
Poland and Ukraine have had a lot of beef through the centuries, but if there's one thing for certain, it's that we hate Russia a lot more than we've hated each other in the past.
Poland, Ukraine and Baltic states should form their own economic and military union outside the EU to more effectively oppose Russia in future.

Ukraine has already had their application to join the EU accepted.
Poland and the Baltic States already belong to NATO, so they are already "more effectively able to oppose Russia". Individual nations within NATO, however, are free to support Ukraine as best they are able without directly involving their troops. If they left NATO, they would effectively open themselves up to invasion and would be worse off.

EU is bloated, ineffective, overly regulated, disjointed mess, where pro russian states like Hungary can sabotage effective punitive policy response. 8 years ago, after crimea annexation all that EU did came up with is slapping Putin's wrist, then they proceeded to business as usual and keep filling up his pockets, and close their eyes on human rights abuses in Russia, so the current events are in large part their fault. Another, smaller economic and military (maybe some kind of defense pact in addendum to NATO) union between countries that are all actually on a same page in their cultural norms, and which aren't corrupted by Russian money would make tremendous difference in quickly and efficiently deterring russia in this region in the future, in my opinion.

@@kunatosftw well, actually Poland has both a healthy economy and very capable army. Ukraine's has huge economic potential, so maybe a closer economic ties with Poland could be the jolt it needs after the war instead of waiting for years for EU membership. I'm not saying that these countries should necessarily leave the EU and turn their back on western countries, although it's their decision. I just don't think that EU project is viable long term in it's current form with it's deep divisions and overregulation. But European countries should of course strive for friendly relationship and free trade in the future, regardless the the EU membership.

EU countries need to mandate that all workers who can work from home must do so. This will result in large office buildings not requiring heating during the winter. People at home can just heat the minimal rooms they need. By doing this, the need for gas will drop and the sooner it drops, the quicker Russia will be impoverished.

the better of ones yes... the middle and lower class who have no family to shelter with are not so lucky. all my family lives in the same region. if war broke out here i would have nowhere to go. i wouldtn even be able to afford fleeing and several months of food until i can get a new home and job.

Not great when you finally get food because your stomach has shrunk and will only accept a few spoonfuls. I remember a couple of years ago I watched a documentary in the spanish TV, where a journalist was traveling the transiberian route, asking people all along Russia their opinion about Vladimir Putin. For westeners, it is a mistery how he can be so popular among russians. I remember that most of them answered that they liked Putin because he was a strong leader, and that was exactly what Russia needed. When I watched it, I knew that country, which I have to admit I've always found interesting, was doomed. A "strong leader" in other words, an autocrat, is actually what leads a country to its downfall. They take actions based on their twisted view of the world, without paying the price for their mistakes untill the blunder is so huge theirs no way back, and citizens are those who will pay the price. There are very difficult years ahead for russians.

I feel bad for these people as they are stuck in the middle with nowhere to go. To see these young kids navigate the bombed out areas with little caution is crazy but a way of life now.
They have many places just they can't go anywhere because they choose to stay, many Donetsk Citizens had left into Russia to avoid the conflict
A friend of mine in mariupol is very happy where he is since this is nothing new to them, this is just a repeat of 2014 but with alittle spice and russias doing better than worse

Mariupol has been constantly been invaded left and right since 2014, the only reason i say my friend is happy is because they are under russian control again.
You don't even need to believe me for this, the constant mountains of videos showing Donetsk/Mariupol citizens praising russian soldiers with gifts as they had arrived says it enough.

I live in Poland and my friend's family recently took in a Ukrainian family from Mariupol that's made up of a granny, a mother and her daughter. I was invited to the daughter's 18th birthday party to help her adapt in the new enviroment and got an opportunity to talk to her. She actually studied law in Moscow, but she decided to join up her family that was forced to escape to Poland. They were all Russian speakers, they have lived alongside Russians for years and the daughter even moved to Moscow in spite of all the separatists-related shit. And yet her hometown got absolutely destroyed, her neighbours killed. She was supposed back to Mariupol this summer to meet up with her old friends at the Theatre Square, but instead she got permanently separated from her friends, got forced to adapt to life in a new country and even the iconic thetre is gone, together with lives of dozens of people who were hiding there.
The only thing that Russia brought to Mariupol was its doom, and yet stinky vatinks like you dare to argue that you "liberated" the city. Pathetic.

Azov was Founded Slaughtering/Using civilians as Defences including the hospital that was Attacked with That famous story of a pregnant woman, Everyone believed it was just a warcrime when In reality both sides admitted That ukraines troops used it as a bunker.
Just like the Steel plant, when citizens were founded they all spoke out against azov about them being used as shields.
