Build and manage a Maximum Security Prison. As the sun casts it’s early morning rays on a beautiful patch of countryside the clock starts ticking. You’ve got to crack on and build a holding cell to detain the job lot of maximum security prisoners that are trundling to your future prison on their yellow bus. As your workmen lay the last brick you don’t have a moment to let them rest as they need to get started on the first proper cell block so you can make room for the next prisoner intake. Once they’ve all got a place to lay their weary heads the fun can really start.
You’ll need a canteen, infirmary and a guard room, oh, and don’t forget to plumb in a toilet, or things will get messy, but what about a workout area? Or solitary confinement cells? Or an execution chamber?
Inspired by Dungeon Keeper, Dwarf Fortress and Theme Hospital and with over 1 million players having spent time inside, Prison Architect is the world’s best lock-em-up.
Story Mode:
Prison Architect opens with the story of Edward, a man facing the electric chair for committing a crime of passion. This is followed by four additional chapters focusing on different characters and aspects of prison life. From Mafia Dons to power-crazed senators, Prison Architect has them all! To bring these characters to life, Introversion teamed up with award winning professional writer Chris Hastings, producing an enthralling tale of corruption and human misery set against the background of the modern prison industrial complex.
Escape Mode:
Finished your supermax? Got guard dogs roving every corridor and prisoners eating out of your hand? Now you can live the horror by firing up escape mode and play as a prisoner hell-bent on getting the hell out of dodge.
Dig a tunnel, go for the armoury or start a riot and slip out in the chaos, it’s entirely up to you! Figure out how to escape from your own creation, or hit the random button and load one of the 12,000 prisons created by the steam community, whichever you choose it’s not going to be easy...

You can play with regimes and stuff to keep prisoners of different security at an offset to each other, so you can use the same canteen for mutlitple sets of prisoners. Example: 7am to 9 am - Min sec, 10 am to Noon - Med sec, 1pm to 3 pm - Max sec and so on.

You’re going to need some serious anti tunnelling strategies. 100 prisoners being able to tunnel out of each dorm is going to be fun to keep under control.
I think 100+ min sec can dig out overnight.
Doesn't the perimeter wall prevent tunneling ? If not I suppose just a ton of dogs
@@kalibbailey6219 it makes it harder to tunnel so the prisoners game behaviour makes them go for gaps within the perimeter wall. You can deliberately leave gaps in a wall and prisoners will tunnel towards the gap as it’s the easiest route. Once you the likely tunnel route you can add patrols and even add kennels above where the prisoners are going to dig.
I once made a dorm for 86 prisoners and with one tunnel 60 of them scaped in a single night lol
The coolest thing about this scale is I imagine prisoner staff can become super important. I do wish you would do a smallish amount of gangs & dynamic reputations just to make the prison more dynamic over time
Having 4 inmate classes could be cool, and each would get 2 dormitories and their own cafeteria.
And they can share all the other room types like chapels and visitation.
You could do different risk prisoners and have them use the same canteens at different times.
I think it would be cool to have every class of prisoner, except for criminally insane. You could have various parts of the prison sectored off by class.
Be very careful with dormitories, it's a huge safety risk at times

I have a mod that lets you build vertically. I currently have 20,000 prisoners in it. It’s not even a third full yet.
i'm praying for the frame rate once prisoners arrive sabfchkaj this is intense but i cannot wait for the chaos lol
You absolutely need laundry. Over 1000 Uniforms would be a mess, and you would need a ton of janitors to hand them out. It would be easier having inmates do it
with that meny prisoners, get the mod for the protective custody (The Snitch Sorter Mod)

You do need laundry or the game'll scream at you. You COULD do staff only laundry (lots of Janitors needed though)
You should definitely expand! Make bigger yards because that’s a lot of prisoners
It might be fun if you do all 5 types of prisoners and see what happens

I think you should make them all low and medium security prisoners and then create a separate cell block for if/when some are inevitably needed to be upgraded lol
I say all types of inmates (low, mid, high)
1000 low risk is chaotic enough. Imagine all 6 levels (low, mid, max, supermax, insane, death row). It would be a mad house

So you went for the opposite of what i suggested, but that is fine i want to see this also. I wish you could have a mode for Dread type guards. Green energy you can have it on the right side of the road. You dont really need to fence it and you could fit 2 or 3 hybrid in a row and plenty of space to have those and delivery and export.
Never done one with Dorms before never seen one tbf. I cannot wait to see how this one turns out :)

Probably too late for a suggestion, but about the ppl you are going to host there. What about you make it 1/4 of each. Like 1/4 low sec, 1/4 ?medium sec, and so on....
A low risk work focused facility might be fun.

this is where getting farming for the tall fridges is a good idea
i always go for as many prisoners as possible, however it starts to reduce my RPS to below 30 after i get 600 to 1000 prisoners. curious if your computer can handle it with 1000 prisoners.

I was thinking I got an idea for prison where you make each prison block self contained with only four legendary prisoners on death row. Each block must have its own prison kitchen, it's own medical wing, its own prisoner check in, its own everything. Prisoners are never allowed to go outside of their block less it's for execution and if possible each block has its execution location in each block basically mini prisons designed for four legendary death row prisoners. If you have not enough room build more blocks

you've probably done the maths already I just wanted to double check against yours.
So if each table holds eight prisoners, then each row holds thirty six? prisoners. and there are six rows, that's two hundred and sixteen per canteen. with a grand total of one thousand seven hundred and twenty eight prisoners total, that you're able to feed.
does this sound about correct? my maths is usually terrible so I could be way off.
