    Good review. Love the down to earth narrative as a lot of tubers will just throw out acronyms out.
    Huge DCS Huey pilot here. The vibrations are due to overspeed. Keep her under 100. The inverter should be on instead of spare. Shaking isnt bad per say but as you said... something is configured wrong and the aircraft is telling you.
    The start stick position should be left and back. This is why you floated right on take off. You have your rudders down nicely. :) Watch that vertical speed as once you transition from hover to forward you will need less collective to keep it up in the air.
    Love your videos sir. Thank you once again.

      Hehe easy to praise when things are presented well. :)
      Not too much back left on the stick. That is why they have the red stick position indicator (similar to DCS) to help.

    Your videos are great. It is also so refreshing to hear an honest opinion about price. I have bought so many add-ons only to find out they look nothing like the trailers and contain very little simulation for the price asked.

    I’m glad you ended up doing the helicopter review since that is the one I voted for. :-) Don’t worry about not knowing much about flying one as I think most people don’t know how to, I know I don’t. I agree with a comment below that you were right at the red line for airspeed. Overall I think it was still a great review of the helicopter. It would have been nice to see you at least attempt a landing, even if it didn’t go well. Thanks for another great review!

  • @awjvdheide
    @awjvdheide Před 5 lety

    Great video reviewing a helicopter. One remark on the pricing and the features. Something you did not take into account is that the shaking, the rotorwash effect on the ground and the fact you can take the gunner position and aim and fire the gun are also features. The flight model is accurate.
    This helicopter is according some reviewers as good as the DCS Huey which is a helicopter sim standard at the moment.
    Taking this in account makes for me the price to be normal for these kind of advanced sim aircraft.

    • @Q8Pilot
      @Q8Pilot  Před 5 lety

      Thank you Albert for your thoughts and the remark on pricing. You are probably right, but really expected a much better control panel for this price. It remains a very relative and subjective matter, but I fully take your point here.

  • @mikebryant8498
    @mikebryant8498 Před 5 lety

    The shaking really bad was more than likely due to you reaching the "over speed" mark. And as for the switches, I just point the mouse cursor at a switch and use the mouse wheel to flip a switch and works perfect every time for me.

    @moparmadness74dodge Před 5 lety +1

    I think you are shaking because the rotor RPM was below the green area for flight, you are in the caution area. I didn't see the torque level but could either be too much collective or not enough throttle/engine power.

    you were shaking due to overspeed. you will notice you were reaching 120knts, huey flies best between 90ktns and 110kts, at 110kts shaking will start and at 120knts plus you could lose control

    It's to much $ for a 3d model, flight model, animations, textures, sound
    and all the features (sells his Q8Pilot Cup - only feature "it's a cup"
    - for 50% of what the Huey costs) .... ouch?

    • @Q8Pilot
      @Q8Pilot  Před 4 lety +1

      The math is simple. If you like both, get the aircraft and cup. If like neither, don't buy either. If you like either, get the one you like better. I would go for the cup =). By the way, I dont set the price for either the plane or even the cup.

      Download Timber61's Bell 429 (X-Plane Freeware). It's an excellent helicopter and probably the easiest to learn to fly. Once I got proficient with it, I could fly X-Plane's default Sikorsky, but I didn't like it.

    Ok so the throttle works with the mouse, but when I add collective I lose RPM
    can you help?

    • @pa4tim
      @pa4tim Před 4 lety

      You set the throttle right after starting at max and leave it there. So you can do that with your mouse if you want. The governor then tries to keep the Rotor RPM constant at 100%. Some choppers have no governor in that case you need to control both throttle and collector manual. So increase throttle manual if RPM drops or rises to much.
      Some also have complex stabilization systems and if you set those up the wrong way strange things can happen.
      If you still drop RPM you pull up the collective to fast or have some settings wrong.
      I hope you do not try to fly a chopper using keyboard and mouse only...

    • @Q8Pilot
