Lyrics:
We are the Nowhere Generation
We are the kids that no one wants
We are a credible threat
To the rules you set
A cause to be alarmed
We are not the names that we’ve been given
We speak a language you don’t know
We are the Nowhere Generation
The Nowhere Generation
One day
All the walls will come down
All the doors will open
All the roads will lead home
But right now
We are spiraling down
And the longer we wait
The further we go
Are we slipping through the cracks now
No place left on your map now to call home?
We are the Nowhere Generation
The kids that no one wants
We are a credible threat
To the rules you set
A cause to be alarmed
We are not the names that we’ve been given
We speak a language you don’t know
We are the Nowhere Generation
The Nowhere Generation
“For your sweat, you’ll be rewarded”
They told us every day
“There’s a land of milk & honey and
it’s not that far away”
But the finish line kept moving
And the promises wore thin
The smoke on the horizon
Was the burning promised land
This place used to be somewhere but they
Sold it out from under us
Our voices all ignored
We are the Nowhere Generation
The kids that no one wants
We are a credible threat
To the rules you set
A cause to be alarmed
We are not the names that we’ve been given
We speak a language you don’t know
We are the Nowhere Generation
The Nowhere Generation
And yet we climb these burning ladders
Still, we raise for them the hammers
Swinging low
“What exactly are we after?”
They will ask
And we will answer
We are the Nowhere Generation
The kids that no one wants
We are a credible threat
To the rules you set
A cause to be alarmed
We are not the names that we’ve been given
We speak a language you don’t know
We are the Nowhere Generation
The Nowhere Generation
We are the Nowhere Generation. - Zábava
I don’t care what the critics say, I enjoy the single and I can’t wait for the album to give my own thoughts. If I don’t like it that’s cool, If I love it, even better! Can’t wait
What do the critics say? Bad things about the new single? I love this song and it has the rise against style
Who's that Critic ? Real Critic Or Just Some Music Elitist ?
Real Critic never said that, because the Lyrics are Great, Real Critic always look at the Lyrics, no matter how Catchy Or Easy Listening Your Song 💯

Critics: "Oh no! This is the credible threat to the rules we set! Let's give it a bad review!"
@@naterk9460 that’s ‘a cause to be alarmed’ (:
Rise Against knows what this generation is going through.
Given almost nothing to work with, yet tasked with saving the world, saying that we'll be rewarded in the end.
We are the nowhere generation. We aren't going anywhere, so you're stuck with us whether you like it or not.
WE ARE A CREDIBLE THREAT TO THE RULES YOU SET
I was singing 'we are INCREDIBLE threat' :D
A cause to be alarmed

Hi, also from Germany .. Age 28. =)

This song makes me feel many things. On the one hand, the lyrics remind me that our future is uncertain, that it is not as concrete as we were promised.
But the melody excites me and gives me hope to get ahead, to go there and make a difference.
Without a doubt it is a magnificent song, I love it
YES YOU PUT IT INTO WORDS
Thats exactly how i feel about this song
DT won
Song blows
Hopefully this won't dampen your enthusiasm, but this song would have been received in exactly the same way by the same age group if it had been released in 1990.
Welcome to the spirit of Punk... Since Death Kennedys, The Clash and Ramones, and even Green Day, these are the banners of every generation... enjoy!
For your sweat you'll be rewarded. They told us everyday.
There's a land of milk and honey; and it's not that far away.
But the finish line kept moving, and the promises wore thin
and the smoke on the horizon was the burning promise land!
AND THIS PLACE USED TO BE SOMEWHERE BUT THEY SOLD IT OUT FROM UNDER US.
Our voices all ignored!
The message of this song is pretty clear, the current generation lacks positive direction a lot of times, but that is also because the rules are changed on them constantly and the goalposts always get moved.
It also means that they need to FIND their direction instead of waiting for someone to point it out, and DEMAND that that direction be respected.
When the game is rigged play a different game.
This song almost made me cry the first time i heard it. Its nice to feel seen and taken seriously
This song really comes at the right time: I've been stuck at home in a more or less strict lockdown for more than a year at this point after only one semester at university (that i really couldn't enjoy bc i was really sick). I feel like politicians in my country Austria really don't care about the mental health of my generation and people my age.I feel like a kid that noone wants and this song gives me away to express my emotions
Dude, you should see the US. Unfortunately, it's fucking ran by bullshit...
The situation in Europe is blowing my mind that supposedly there is free movement but no one has really been able to go anywhere this whole time. I think it should change soon. Last summer was also not that bad. Hang in there man I don’t think this can last much longer without a huge revolt. Young people should not be under such rules as this that’s for sure
@FelixFlame Well, what other choice is there? In this case, it’s either do what your government says or risk getting a sickness that is usually very unpleasant, even for people who aren’t likely to die from it.
I heard this song on the radio the other day and I am actually kind of surprised it is brand new. I fully expected that it would have been released in 2009 or so.
I was listening to the dirt whispered as I got this notification
Understandable, great song
Child, they're coming home!
Great song, did you know about the unofficial 8 bit version?
@@woutergrob8587 no..... Where would one find this
That song is just out-fucking-standing
We are the nowhere generation.
Nobody cared to teach us how to live, so we lived anyways.
Nobody cared to teach us, so we taught ourselves and each other.
Our lives were sold for the comforts of those who had already been practically given the world on a platter soaked in blood and death. And yet we earned our breath.
Our voices were stolen and our rights hidden, so we found them ourselves and shouted louder.
Our very world is cracking and crumbling under the weight of our own parents hubris and greed, and yet we fight to rebuild it and protect it with what little we have.
Nations jealously carve lines wherever they can, and yet we transcended their boundaries.
We are the nowhere generation, and we will not go quietly.
This instantly makes me think of Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Season 1.
I've been listening to these guys since middle school. Jeez time flies. I just had my 21st birthday.
I'm 24 and can't remember when I startet to listen to their songs but I still like them
@@nri363 Same man. Rise against is timeless. Great messages and music
Same, i remember seeing the music video for Make it stop (Septembers children) when i was 12 shortly after i had realized i was gay, and that music video helped m,e through a lot of bad and suicidal times. I'm now 21 and still a bit up and down but a lot better, unfortunately have only seen them live once but when i did they played make it stop and i cried. it was a great concert, a few songs pissed off my sisters super conservative boyfriend too and was fun to see how triggered he got "I thought this was a rock festival whats with this commie punk shit"LMAO. I picked up a wolves hoodie there. eventually plan to get a tat of their logo.
@@aj4waffles that's amazing to hear dude. Hope youre doing better. And i've never been to a concert yet :(
I feel that. Im 26 and I've been listening since like 2009, around the time when Appeal To Reason was new. When Endgame came out it was my favorite album for a while. Cant believe I've been a fan for this long lol.
We LOVE Rise Against!! My son & I meet them about 9-10 years ago after a concert out in L.A. Hung out with them for a bit and they were talking with my son. Really cool guys & down to earth. Glad to hear new music from them!
This is the song that is currently carrying me through college. It fills me with so much energy and drive. It makes me want to learn what I can do to make the world a better place for my nowhere generation, and the nowhere generations that will follow! Absolutely stoked for the new album to drop!!!
Rise Against still out here speaking to my soul!
Cause to be ALRMED!!
This song is the millennial and zoomer anthem of both political stripes tbh
Once again Rise Against makes a timeless evergreen song. May it move us all toward actual change
100 hz high end sony triton crts. Damn the retro dream. I wish this technology would still expand
The intro alone describes the modern generation perfectly
If this song sets the precedent for the rest of the album then hooooohhhhhh babey we're in for a treat
The perfect anthem for the 2020's.
Gooooo

I'm suddenly reminded of a similarly profound quote from an episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation.
"It seems we are not completely dissimilar after all. In our hopes, or in our fears."
"Yes."
"Well, then, perhaps... one day."
"One day."

I feel like I am part of the nowhere generation for sure.
Same.
🙋🏼♀️
Anyone after the 80s at this point.
Rise!
This song is amazing in every respect. The lyrics are both timely and timeless, the music has just the right energy, and the vocals deliver the message flawlessly. The sad thing is that a child of the 60's can identify with these words as easily as a modern young adult. We've been fighting these same fights my whole life. Race, gender, orientation, basic human dignity, and let's not forget the destruction of our environment. We were supposed to have fixed this mess by now, instead of letting greed win out over compassion, humanity, or plain common sense.
Lets go!!!
This hit me on a deep chord, I'm crying tears of happiness that this song exists.
Millennials stand up. Screwed by the past, no hope for the future. Underestimated and misunderstood. #NowhereGeneration 🤙🤘✊
The rifle was under my chin in 2019, 3 weeks ago I buried a friend. #stillhere

@@rideblades007 Classically good! They’re not in their 20s anymore and we all know how hard this band used to go! Still do, just nothing is eternal. And let’s hope they don’t hold as much pain as what was reflected in their past records.

Did... did you come to a lyric video, before it went live, to comment the lyrics?
I respect it
Name a generation that wasn't going anywhere. Mine is Gen-X. Solve for the unknown factor. Nope, just kick the can forever and demand everything will work itself out fine. Unfortunately, it doesn't work that way.
"We are not the name that we've been given"
I don't know if it's directly addressing the trans community, but it looks like a very nice form of recognition.
I take it as internet alias's.
Yeah, im not trans myself but i had the same thought. Although i am gay so i guess the trans community comes to mind for me more than some others.
@alisha hughes soo I dont know if you are just ill informed or what. However, Tim McIlrath even quoted that "I'm always trying to figure out what voice to use in a song. A lot of my songs come from the perspective of a character, they're not always me. In this one, I really wanted to put myself in the listener's perspective ... This song was sort of inspired by a lot of the younger generation telling me about their anxieties, their concerns and worries about the future of the world around them. At first I treated those accounts as, Well, yeah, that's every generation. We're all swimming upstream against the tide, trying to overcome it. But the tide nowadays has been manipulated. It's driven by a lot of external forces, which create things like the rise of the one percent, concentrated wealth, the decay of the middle class, exploding college debt. I realized that a lot of the issues that this generation is facing are new and unique to this generation.
The sad irony, the kick in the teeth to all of this, is that I feel like "Millennial" became a dirty word. It became a punch line. It became, "Oh these people are entitled and self-absorbed. They don't know how to pick up the phone or run errands." But when you realize what they're faced with, you can see [how] that paralysis might be created. When you grow up in a world where you no longer trust the institutions around you to support you, or if you believe that the ladder to success has been burned away by somebody who used it before you - that affects you psychologically. It affects the way you look at the world. I wanted the song to come from that voice. I started to find real sympathy with these concerns and complaints. It was very much inspired by the people in our front row."
So this song is written to talk about Millennials, Gen Y and Gen Z. I dont understand why you have to push religion into this song. Which does have very good meaning and does connect very well to the people who it is intended to speak about If you do want to read more about the interview-
www.revolvermag.com/music/tiktok-riots-radical-punk-rise-against-talk-trials-nowhere-generation
@alisha hughes gross . Lmaooo no, none of that is accurate . Keep your cult to yourself
@alisha hughes God doesn't like people wearing their religion on their sleeves according to your holy book. It's best you go back and do some soul searching before accusing anyone of being sinful.
This screams early 2000s.
