To the absolute diamond who posted this footage, from the bottom of my heart, thank you!!! I've been trying to find footage of this match for years to show my kids. This match was before I was born, but I've heard the story so many times. My dad was really good enough to have gone pro untill, when at the try outs for ( I can't actually remember who but I want to say Nottingham ) he got an elbow to the nose which crushed his nostril, after which he was ruled out on health reasons. My dad lived for the game. He knew he couldn't play so did the only thing available, and became an official. He just wanted to be involved. In this video he is living out his boy hood dream of being in a match at Wembley. Ok not in the way he originally had dreamed, but that's him, running the line, far sidevfacing the camera. I Still have the programme, sighed by both teams, his Wembley medal, and the jersey he wore and the official picture. Yeah I know they can be the most hat d men in football but to me he was a boy who never gave up on his dream.

Was there 45 years ago today supporting the 'other' side, lol! My mind's eye says there were quite a few more Billericay fans than Stamford, with loads behind the goal to the camera's left where I was.
Enjoyed seeing again, and still wonder how it went to extra time?
My abiding memory is of Steve Bone, Billericay defender and captain leaping into the arms of Phil Whettell as Geoff Aslett scores.
Sadly, Bone lost a two-year battle with cancer in December 2011, aged just 64.

Is there more Stamford fans there than billericay , being not far from Wembley would think there were more for them .
