Pete Meets returns to the legendary Apex Electronics in Los Angeles!
On my last visit, we found a treasure trove of electronic history. The video went viral and sparked a wave of nostalgia from engineers around the world.
Today, we're not just revisiting Apex. We're diving deeper. My special guest is Dave Jennings who was awarded 4 Emmys for his work as a broadcast engineer on several olympics. He has a wealth of knowledge that he's eager to share with us.
Dave will be showing us around Apex Electronics and pointing out state of the art analog broadcasting gear that he used in the 70s and 80s.
It’s crazy to imagine but I made this video with $5,000 dollars worth of equipment.
The analog gear that Dave is going to show us would have set me back over $1 million dollars!
The electro-mechanical engineering that went into videotape machines was incredible, right?

Yes!
We could hange or add an video card to be up about resolution and remplace tube be an more efficient in an video camera. We could to change an tube on an heavy camera with an 4k lcd receiver inside. Why not ? Excellent stability on body and how many lens lost? Strengh and precise mechanics? I learned physics and biochimy with tube oscillosp with some computer links for some high experiences. How to consume all possibilities to all instruments. Impossible so it was possible to conserve them. I didn't know computing with no screens but abstration is different to program and only some old programers could explain us in what it could be better than today! Regards.

Yes but vintage video is different than 35 mm film with light speed projector about quality research about vintage products. We have an deception with time about old video products. But with thinking well, tube camera colors at 8 pm TV news were not so bad in perfect state and were at 550 ligns even more but we have to search these tube cameras high definitions because they probably existed...
