Shotaro rushes onto his motorcycle.

I recreated the iconic motorcycle scene from the movie “AKIRA”.
Shotaro Kaneda’s figure was big as a foot. For shooting stop motion, it's easier to handle when the figure is bigger. However, the motorcycle was heavy, so I had a hard time making a wheelie. The headlight is powered by battery, and lights up. What made it complicated was that it automatically turned off in five minutes.
I used not only the table, but also the floor to complete this shoot. I was crouching most of the time, so it was tiring than the other shoots I've taken. I used a supporter for my knees to protect it from getting wounded.

確かファイナルファンタジーのお高いアクションフィギュアだと、服の部分を布で作ってる奴もあるからこの金田もそう言う奴なのでは？

@@v4nd3l4yhomeboi5 the old fashioned way is creating a model of each position increment.... being that smooth it would take a ton of jacket models to get that animation. if that's what the animator did, hats off to the guy. if he had some other trick i'd love to know it.
i guess the other trick i can think of is having a jacket that is malleable to some extent so you can change its form between each photo.
either way it's a time consuming process.
I'd LOVE to see a behind the scenes video of that part.

the animator also uses a higher number of photos (with a corresponding higher number of incremental positioning) per second than what you usually see for many stop motion captures. if using standard stop motion methods.
it's pretty impressive.

I keep re-watching the first second over and over because I'm stunned the jacket actually has a wave starting from the top and flowing down. It even puffs up a little! Absolutely phenomenal animation!

The things that I love in your videos are the humor you put, the smoothness in the animation and the creative VFX you do without the help of a computer (like the lights and the smoke).

This motorcycle looks like a cross between the Speed Racer's car and Tron's light cycle.
Katsuhiro Otomo said he was indeed inspired by Tron's light cycles, but he wanted to reappropriate the design
OMG, that was so flawlessly done. Once I saw the lower bottom of the jacket flap around, I knew this was gonna be savage.
