An enlarged liver is one that's bigger than normal. The medical term is hepatomegaly (hep-uh-toe-MEG-uh-le).
Rather than a disease, an enlarged liver is a sign of an underlying problem, such as liver disease, congestive heart failure or cancer. Treatment involves identifying and controlling the cause of the condition.
It may take a few weeks to months for symptoms to appear in case of liver inflammation. The signs are visible only when the liver can no longer function properly. So, how to tell if your liver is enlarged? Below are some of the enlarged liver symptoms, that a person would experience:
Sudden weight loss
Loss of appetite
Pain in the upper right side of the abdomen
Weakness and fatigue
Jaundice
Pale yellow stool
Nausea and vomiting
Fever
Itching of the skin
Feeling bloated
Swelling of feet and ankles
