LOL at the unicorn dart jam out the barrel at 1:31. That's about the most accurate thing to the unicorn experience I have seen. As you can tell, I don't particularly like my unicorn.
Yeah, precisely....
They haven't fixed fundamental issues
The unicorn has a vacuum problem. It's a easy fix
Same here dawg
Jam issues, trigger issues, grip wobble cause the thin part of the barrel, etc.
There's a reason I don't use it or even use it as a loaner anymore
if you do take the time to fine tune it, it seems to have no real issues other then standard springer problems. I've done a lot of nerfing inside humid airsoft fields and the unicorn quickly runs into typical springer problems, the darts expand and get stuck in the barrel. But, every springer suffers in those conditions.
I like how they made a "maxed-out" version that's readily available, without any modifications.
I can't wait to see what comes next, Luke!
having the spring guide not be a buffer tube the same time is a huge missed opportunity.
Yeah, what an odd decision.
lets hope they are not far enough into production that they can still "fix" that.
Hopefully they can still change it. If not hopefully someone else could do it.
@xfoxgames will take care of that I’m sure
As someone that owns the first unicorn everyone should know that the upgraded version and the original have a vacuum problem where the dart get stuck in the barrel. Its a easy fix. You just need to drill a tiny hole on the tip of the pusher or cut notches in the tip to let air get behind the dart
For what it's worth, I believe this issue has been fixed on newer models. By the time I got mine many months ago it already had notches cut on the front of the pusher out of the box and had no issues with vacuuming. This one has the upgraded metal internals which includes a pusher that has semicircular cutaways on the tip.
I literally just upgraded my unicorns internals to the metal kit today and yes, new pusher does come slotted. I feel like it does remove the vacuum.
Are you able to speak on some of the plastic parts that get worn down over time? Some other commenters mentioned that problem here but I don't know exactly what parts theyre referring to aside from dart gate and priming block. Does the metal internal kit fix all those issues?
@@saeriroux You said the new Unicorn is getting the upgraded metal internals? Why did it jam in the video?
@@jakev1341 my guy how the fudge would I know that lmao
what springer (or blaster of any kind) doesn't jam at least on occasion?
Please hire silly, it’d allow him to keep on designing blasters, and with the current amount he makes, he may not be able to go on as long as he may want to.
I kinda wish they could release it as an upgrade kit for the unicorn
give em time i bet they do
@@bryanwaugi6632 yeah, another thing I though of is why not have the spring tube be a proper buffer tube?
I would be very happy if that happened. Broke the front picatinny rail on mine a while back, and I can't find a replacement for it 😅
@@steampontopidan oof man
Dying vid please! I'd ADORE one with custom colors!
I’m excited, but I have some questions right off the bat:
Did they fix the stock collapsing issue? Mainly is the stock catch on both sides or is it still only on 1 side?
Speaking of stock, do you plan to do a buffer tube compatible mod for it? It seems to have the real estate for it.
Are the barrels threaded? Mainly to shorten the blaster.
And is it possible to shorten this blaster to the same length as the original KM9 (taking off the barrel shroud and swapping to a shorter barrel mainly)?
Is the priming draw length longer?
Any new accompanying upgrade items with this blaster that is cross compatible with the OG KM9 (barrel shroud, threaded barrel, powerstock, etc)?
These are all really great questions that I hope get answered.
All of these questions are answered in the video, maybe give it another watch. The core blaster is identical to the original Unicorn, this version essentially just comes with a lot of pre-installed upgrades.
I'm glad they went ahead with my suggestions for the addon kit. The Unicorn is my favorite injection molded blaster produced so far
You may be a lil bit biased
1:30 SQUIB!
Hey man, I saw your review and you were the one who showed me the game face trion. It’s coming in the mail in a couple of days and up pretty excited, so thanks for the review!
1. Are the new upgrade parts going to be sold separately for those of us that already have the base model blaster?
2. Has XYL considered a buffer tube that's actually milspec/airsoft compatible?
Would instantly buy an upgrade kit for my existing Unicorn that has the metal internals + spring tube + barrel + foregrip; otherwise, can't justify the full cost of another blaster.
Please do a dye video!
Seems interesting. Can’t wait to see how it will be used in the future
can you do the video on dying the unicorn
Metal dart gate and priming block is a must. My screws are now stripping the plastic
The pro alpha trooper
Little rocket's favorite mythical creature
Please this holiday season brings back the proton pack
no buffer tube seems crazy for this build
I cant wait for my preorder!
Good work!
One thing I’d like to try is a lighter weight spring guide so the plunger can move faster. Idk what material would be best tho
I actually want one or two. Also putting that tube and internals in my short unicorn. I’d also be interested to see that buffer tube included in a kit if it isn’t already
I like how the new foregrip is just the old top prime/peek-sight-thing. I've wanted to use it as the foregrip before, but didn't have any way to attach it.
Edit: Will you sell a conversion kit to upgrade existing Unicorns?
You _can_ use the top prime grip as a foregrip, just secure its back bolt through the rearmost of the pic troughs. It'll stick out a bit further than the stock barrel unless you add a SCAR or swap for something longer.
Def would like to see a video on dying one.
As a novice looking to upgrade from their first blaster (maxed-out Nexus Pro X), where this fits in with OOD's "next step up." My use case is outdoors in a kids+adults game with a max FPS of 220, favoring mostly ranged games. My guess is with the BCAR, this would eek under the 220 mark, but what are the side-by-side comparisons with, say, a Harrier?
Why not just keep using the nexus pro x and put in their own offered performance increase spring+spacer? You would only have to get that kit which cost me like 10€. And it should get you 200+FPS.
Got one for pre-order? when would it arrive since I heard you got some delay going on. Thanks!
I got that same kit on mine. Love it.
Dude that is sick
@outofdarts can you please review the amoeba from 404 seen it in a lot of loadout videos of yours and just curious
I hope this set is a mod kit for the KM9 eventually.
When is the blaster going to be released date.
You forgot to answer the most crucial question.
Does it fit my N-Strike barrel attachments?
Sooooo did they fix the trigger issue where the blaster won't fire unless you find the perfect spot to pull it, or slam fire just not working?
Can this take a lighter spring load and if so, what are the numbers on that?
Definitely a nice blaster, but for that price range I'd rather have a seagull. Can hit just as high with a few bucks worth of upgrades, and with more, will hit even higher.
The reason I’d want this one is the durability of the nylon and the metal buffer tube. Also that it’s basically what I’d always wanted my OAT to be in the first place. At least on paper.
I want the seagull and harrier too tho.
1:30 Yo that was a squib!
Would just the upgrade parts be available for purchase if we already have the unicorn?
Aw man, the original unicorn hit too low and this hits too high for me. Sad because otherwise it looks really cool.
Will XYL be selling the new shroud/pump or spring guide seperately?
Is there a way to setup the top picatinny to be stationary; not move with the prime? Thanks
The Unicorn includes an alternate fixed top rail that you can put in place of the top prime rail.
So this is a blackraisins kit from the manufacturer lol. I might get one. I have 2 of the og unicorn.
Except black raisins is reputed to be sketchy to work with whereas out of darts is not
@@jonmandelbaum5395???? That was a weird reply. Never said anything about reputation. But you aren't wrong. I have had major issues with them.
dying vid would be sweet
Can it take a K26?
Can you still get them to turn the spring guide jnto a proper buffer tube? Also can we attach side rails to the new front in some way?
anyone able to tell me what that angled foregrip is called? or if there is a 3d file of it i can print?
What, I was getting that performance out of the first version of the Unicorn. Use a Kronos 18kg spring and it gets you to 230fps no problems without the need of a longer spring and buffer tube or metal internals on a 290mm barrel.
Also with time it delevopes a trigger issue that makes it only works in slamfire because the die-cast bits inside the trigger mechanism and slamfire mechanism wear down..
Can't recommend it as a blaster.
Hi there, could you elaborate on the trigger issue? I'm unfamiliar with the terminology of springer parts, but what causes it to wear down in this blaster compared to another springer like the Seagull or Gameface Trion, or Dart Zone springers? Thanks!
Mine broke straight out the box will only slam fire and if I try putting in the new spring it want even do that
Dye it!
The top rail moving with the pump action seems like a huge miss. I'll stick with my Worker Seagull for now. :)
Like the original unicorn, that part is optional. There are plates and stationary rails that can be installed in place of the moving top slide rail
@@outofdartsHey luke, does ur team still make those old blaster like captain slug's FLAK?
I personally watched someone playing with a unicorn launch their barrel out in the middle of a match
UnicornTactical where did I hear those words before.... I miss Coop
Will the plunger tube also have a hole like the 1st unicorn?
While a few earlier versions of the original Unicorn did come with a "half-gas" plunger tube, none of the models of Unicorn we sell have ever had holes or porting by default
Thanks! I’m already waiting for my pre order. Hopefully it ships out soonest. :)
If the shell is nylon, can it be dyed, like those big Koda magazines? If I could color this something really funky without having to spray paint it, I'd be down for at least one.
Yup. I dyed mine blue
I dyed mine top red bottom black.
@@mac02ss red and black is my favorite color scheme. Got a pic? And you dyed it with the dunk in hot water method?
@@mattorama yes, water and dye.
@@mattorama yes I do have a picture, can't send it on CZcams.

I never understood why people would upgrade their unicorns with longer barrels and all that. The whole selling point for the Unicorn to me was that it was the smallest cqb blaster available with super stock performance. Adding a longer barrel and increasing the performance put it at around the size of a Seagull with similar performance and similar price, but the Seagull clearly has better quality. This new Unicorn Tactical Edition is cool and all but I feel like it completely defeats the original purpose of the Unicorn. Now you've got a blaster thats the size of all the other blasters that have that same 200fps performance. A worker harrier, nexus pro x, stryker 2.0, or even a slightly upgraded Trion are all competing in that same space with the Unicorn and yet the Unicorn doesn't do anything different because now with the upgrades and no longer a compact size, there is no significant advantage it has over the other blasters. You'd have to really like the Unicorn to get the tactical edition, but again most people who like the Unicorn liked it for its size as that was the biggest difference it had compared to other blasters with similar performance. If the Tactical Unicorn was just a buffed up Unicorn with the same compact size but somehow able to hit right under 200fps that would be worth paying the extra money for. I get that theres a limit to what you can do with springs and barrels but if a Lynx the size of a Seagull can hit 228fps then I don't think a 175-200fps compact Unicorn is impossible especially with the new buffer tube.
230 fps for 150$ ? But I can do that with a Nexus pro X and it's upgrade spring for 70$
Yes but this has stronger internals and shell.
@@jonmandelbaum5395 and I need that ?Why? it is forbidden to 'pistol whip' melee other players with the blaster. So a blaster only needs to be strong enough to fire darts without self destructing; which the mentioned NX already does.
@@adriansue8955 it’s important to me because I like things that will outlast my interest in them on principle. So I’ll be wanting a Guardian Lynx and one of those Saber blasters too. It’s not that I intend to beat the piss out of a thing it’s that I want to know I could if I decided to or did so accidentally. It’s about anxiety. I want a nexus pro X too ofc
@@jonmandelbaum5395 Interesting. I too, like the idea of having blasters built to last. But my interpretation is different from yours. I strongly prefer Dart Zone offerings over Worker etc, because while they're plastic; they also have locks and safety mechanisms that protect the blaster from self-damage. Notably, it is possible to fire a Unicorn from an open breech, which is catastrophic; while DZ blasters lock out the trigger when breech is open. I love having that peace of mind.
@@adriansue8955 I hadn’t considered that. However can you de-prime
A seagull exists tho
Now make it shoot 300 fps
hey im looking for a 3d printer to make guns such as the lepus, gambit, hbm-23 and maybe the party popper. If anyone has suggestions about a good quality one, please tell me!
It looks okay I mean for the price I wasn't a fan of the original unicorn I'm kind of on the fence
Please show me how to dye one. 🫦
