- Some of Australia's top schools are taking extreme measures to stop an alarming rise in student vaping. New vape-detecting technology is being used in bathrooms that sends an alert to staff. Principals say it's helping, but more needs to be done to stop the dangerous trend. There are calls for greater regulation around vaping products which can contain pesticides, cleaning agents and other harmful chemicals.

That's a bit misleading, vapes do not use pesticides in them. There is only glycerin which is sugar and nicotine and flavouring which is mostly sugar too. Yes stop underage vaping and smoking but don't label vaping as the culprit if anything it's the lack of parenting and education
The big tobacco don’t pay them to report like that
Shout out to all the people giving me tips to stop the detectors😂
You could literally just throw wet toilet paper on it to block the vape smoke from entering the device……😒
Quick tip:
When u vape, blow it into your school bag
Thanks bro never thought of that:)
How does a smoke detector record “aggression”, “gunshot” and “thc”? Those are all listed in the app on his computer
Be thankful they're vaping & not smoking cigarettes in the school toilets like we did as kids
I don't do vaping only ice
Thanks for highlighting that if students can't vap at school, they might turn to ice, harder drugs...got a detector for that?
Same problem over here in America. My 12 year old told me about kids vaping in her school’s bathroom.
The more you try to stop them the more they want to do it as it's more cool for them. Let the kids figure it out for them self's as this is the best way for them to learn. Taking away from kids exploration does not prevent them exploring but pushes them to more unsafe ways of trying new things. Don't get me wrong i do not support kids or even adults using vapes but they need to learn for them self's otherwise they not learning anything but how to become dishonest to others and them self's.
How about educating ALL children on vaping, the risks, the contents and openly offer, without judgement, recovery programs? It's just another stategy to justify visually monitoring people 24/7 and opening other avenues for inappropriate activities. Students do not need teachers monitoring when they go to the toilet. WHEN DO YOU TEACH SELF RESPONSIBILITY?????
why don't parents DO THEIR JOB and TEACH THEIR OWN CHILDREN THE DANGERS OF VAPING/SMOKING ETC??? Why do parents expect schools and teachers hto raise their children? The issue starts at home!
When I was in highschool kids discreetly smoked cigs, I wish vaping had been around then as some have died from smoking related illnesses and whilst vaping isn't completely safe, the risks are orders of magnitude lower.
If every would be smoker kid was replaced by 2 kids vaping it would still in all likelihood result in much better health outcomes for the community. The path we are on now with more and more restrictions on vaping will result in more smoking related deaths.
100%
Vaping is actually a lot worse than smoking cigarettes
When we going to rename stralia sino south
stinky tim hanging out in the dunnys for a ciggy lol
Why not detect who sell and manufact them.
But selling cigarettes and alcohols is ok though
Why not employ Security People with trained sniffer dogs to Patrole the schools in the opening hours. Cameras are great ,but also interaction with authorised trained personnel would be a better deterent , particularly if more illegal substances were being distributed around the inside and outside perimeters of the school yards. Got to protect our Youth. The trained dog is an added bonus incase of serious confrontation to the Security Guard. God Bless.
Cameras are great???, Schools need security guards and dogs??? Not needed when I was educated...other drugs were around then, why the sudden need for TOTAL control???
I guarantee you this wouldn’t have stopped us. We would just simply say meet up at the park after school or on the weekends. Every time the school tried to implement a new policy to stop us taking drugs, 1 person would get caught and then no one else will get caught.
Butler high school Perth wa is rife with it
Indication of a lost society?
@@jillstevenson9585 let’s not act like drugs weren’t abused in schools in the past either.
GOOD INITIATIVE 👍
Good on one hand. But at the same time, Big Brother's watchful eye. Totalitarianism.
seems a bit over the top
