I bought the camera last week and it definitely shoots 1080p at more than 30fps. The 4k in bright environments is actually pretty good as well, but it goes to shit as soon as it gets dark which is fine for my use.
Average user here,wont ever do post work. Get this or pay 4x more for new Gopro Black 8 in a few weeks?
This is the best deal for the price, EIS is unbelievably smooth! The EIS on and off video quality is vastly different.
But when EIS is ON, what is the Viewing Angle?

You do the best reviews. Your side-by-side footage is actually helpful. You help me decide to buy the camera. I’m happy I did it’s a well-made camera with excellent features and easy to use. The touchscreen is a blessing. But one problem people should know is that the video files produced by the camera are not compatible with Mac computers. Akaso Cheaped out and used an audio codec which is not compatible with Max. If you transfer your files via SD card to your Mac you will have no sound on your videos. I couldn’t figure it out but after an entire day of searching found a small comment about the situation in Amazon reviews. You would think given the hundreds of people complaining the camera itself sucks because there’s no audio that Ocaso might consider employing a real audio codec. Or they should stayed up front the camera is not Mac compatible. There are two fixes. But he needs an extra step? The first one is supplied by Akaso. You open their application on your phone go into your video files and select the video you want. Then select save to your iPhone. During this process it converts the audio. Then you need to email or airdrop your file to your Macintosh computer. This however is time consuming. The other option is transfer your files using the SD card and then you have to use the compromise of a third-party app to convert your video. Luckily the free video player VLC will do it quickly. You just have to use the convert/stream option and select for your audio another mpeg encoding Codec. Luckily you don’t have to re-incode the video just the audio so it’s a fast process. But I really think the company should state in their literature the files produced by this camera are not Mac compatible as far as audio.
For those who recently acquired the V50x,there are three menu modes, Video, photo and system. The video mode is easy , just tap the function icon (gear shape) in the lower right area of the viewing screen. To get to the photo menu press the mode button in the front of the camera once your in the video menu. To get to the system menu press the menu button a second time. This is not well explained in the manual.

I strongly recommend that you TEST the AKASO case empty in the sink / BEFORE you find a leak and ruin the camera :) I have seen many comments about that issue and IT wasn't tested beforehand :) KEEP up the great job with reviews on AKASO , I am a proud owner ( 2 ) of this Camera :) :)

Well I have the v50pro and tested the waterproof, it was working only until 16 meters, after that the case fails, they very kindly have another one because of the warranty but I don't want to test it again at that deep lol

I have a question about my akaso v50x. I am trying to take a night time-lapse, but I have a problem. I changed the exposure time to 5 seconds (under the photo settings) so that there would be enough light getting to the sensor in the dark environment. I tried taking a few photos and they turned out really good, but when I tried to take a time-lapse, it just used the auto exposure settings so the entire time-lapse turned out way to dark because the sensor was not getting enough light. I am able to change the settings for photos, but when I take a time-lapse it doesn't use my photo settings. (just to confirm, I am doing the photo time-lapse, not the video time-lapse) and ideas? Help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Have you tested the 2023 version? It seems they downgraded the camera specs. I filmed a video with the eis on and it looked like the one on the right. I saw it on yt after I ordered and it was too late to cancel the order. The Gyro is gone time lapse and fast motion are greyed out it's become a complete ripoff.

Hi, I've been trying to find a good first action cam, and I feel like I got close with this, the biggest downside being the microphone. Have you maybe found in the meantime an alternative that doesnt involve external mics at around the same budget? I sadly dont have too many options like yi 4k+ because of european amazon
No solution aside from an external microscope… you can always record sound afterwards and edit it in… but that adds a new level of complexity

Just ordered one because of your awesome and super complete and smart review. I know, after 3 years there are many other options (and cheaper ones), but it still fits my wallet and I don´t need a pro action cam, just for some amateur motorbike vlogging. After seeing all of those seven version videos I decided to stay away from Akaso, turns out the early versions are about like a new version car you want to wait until they get the bugs worked out, but after watching this one it completely changed my mind and I just ordered one from that link you posted so thanks a bunch - that's a really good review.
The stabilisation! Cheap action cameras have come a long way since Eken era.

Hi, I notice the min. time interval for photo time lapse is 3 seconds. I usually do a lot of time lapse's at 1 sec or 2 sec. Am I missing a setting or is there any work around to modify this? - thx
no way to change it unfortunately. I prefer 2 seconds as well

5:03 1) Why cameras do blur the grass? Is there action cameras that do not blur the grass and have crisp recording at 1080p?

Hi Alex, When I switch video resolution to 1080p 120fps or 1080p 90fps image stabilization icon disappears from the screen. Does this mean that IS is not working in these modes?
correct, the image stabilization doesn't work at those resolutions

today I received my akaso V50x and in the settings I noticed that there is no gyroscope setting anywhere, normally gyroscope is under the stabilisation .
the settings 720p120fps, loop recording time, fast motion, time lapse interval are disabled,
I have searched all over the menu but these settings are nowhere to be found.
I do something wrong ?

Hi there, I have installed V50x on my RC airplane and couldn't get smooth video when my bird is doing turns, only flying straight forward makes it smooth. How to fix this problem? Already replaced sd card to some of super-duper fast class 10 U3, but it doesn't help and, one more think - this camera asks to format sd card every time I turned it ON.

Did you find that the audio goes out of sync when recording 4K as it splits the video? i saw this happening when editing videos.
Dont use h265. Also try to loop every 3 minutes.

I own a V50X, why after let's say 45 mins straight recording, when I go to view the video, I can see 5 - 6 breakdowns of the videos. Like it is recording in sections. I use the recommended SD Samsung 64GB. Is is something in the setting that is wrong?
Hello can you help me with advice, I have an akaso v50x with an external akaso microphone, but I can't record good sound. When I put it in the helmet, it is too loud and the voice is too deep so that it makes noise, and I tried a lot of positions, is it possible that there is a problem in the camera or should I try a better microphone according to your recommendation. I want to record some videos on my ATV so stabilization is most important. Probably getting this. Can't for the next month since I lost 2 weeks of work to the plague, but I should be fine next month. Just in time for ATV season.
Nice review, i have a question, can we use the app in phone to download the videos/photos to our cellphone? Or need to connect to a pc to download them and then copy them to our cellphone? Thanks you very much
you can download the videos thorough the app, however it is super time consuming.,.. you are probably better off to do wit throught the computer

i would like to ask something ...could you explain me what the frames supposed to do on the recording. i mean 1080p 30fps what difference does instead of 1080p 60fps. is the same quality image but is just recorded in different speed? i also want to know what gimpal does instead of handheld... and 3rd and last.... how does the wide angle works???...i mean 170 digree makes objects seems far but gives you a larger image but 70 make the objects distance as it is in reality but record smaller image...am i right??? sorry its a big question... thanks for the video and information sharing... I think you should save up and get the Yi 4K+. I use that one as well. I’ve seen it going on sale for around $159 multiple times

You can buy the mic from ali express and make sure canera is on latest firmware or else the mic won't work
How does the akaso v50x perform as a drone cam. It seems like the video jerks on sharp
turns with EIM on (which I’ve noticed in other review vids). Have you experienced this and would you recommend this cam for this usage?

I have a V50X that produces strange footage.
The footages that I imported to Premier Pro always have a Alvin the Chipmunk sound, but they play fine in VLC player.

Hello mr red skull i have a problem with my akaso v50x. The footage is fine when i play it on my laptop but when i import it in adobe premiere the audio goes out of sync and plays really fast that you cant even understand what im saying.
The video is fine just the audio. Might you have any idea what's wrong n how to fix it?? I'm pulling my hair over this :(

you may have a defective battery or you have ut set on the car mode

You shouldn't charge batteries that have a third pin (T) with no-name chargers that only have 2 pins (+ -). The third pin is used to monitor battery temperature and adjust the amperage accordingly so that the battery doesn't overheat. Without it, the charger doesn't know if the battery gets too hot and that's how batteries catch fire when charging.

May I know does the Akaso v50x come with adjustable angle (wider scene) while the distortion correction is on for video recording? I tried the SJCAM SJ8 Pro for my dancing recording and I do not like the fisheye effect, thus I turned the distortion correction ON but the scene was not wide enough afterwards (it changed to be narrower). Please kindly advise. Thanks.

My V50X has never taken a picture on my phone in the Akaso app, only videos. I switch it to picture mode on the phone and press take a picture and it starts recording a video. Does anyone know the answer to how to fix this - or what I'm doing wrong - what I'm missing - is there a step there somewhere? I mean this is 10 days now I've never figured it out. I've tried setting the camera before turning on the Wi-Fi to the photos mode stuff like that; and also is there any way to get this wi-fi screen off of the Akaso itself and actually view what the camera is seeing regardless of the phone? I'm about to return this thing and I hate to do that.
I have a question. I just bought an Akaso V50X and the first thing I've done has been to update to the latest firmware. When I record at 2K 60FPS the videos come out with artifacts (with the stabilizer activated). Someone else happens?

I could have turned on the distortion correction and have a smaller field of view and I could have had better footage without distortion but I wanted to let it be as it comes from the factory
